UMvC3 General Discussion: You can't control it

Magneto-Fits my playstyle, is one of my favorite marvel characters, was powerful in vanilla with the DHC glitch, let’s me do huge ass swag combos.
Wesker- Stylish as fuck and I picked him up before the game came out even. I just like the way he is. I had the luck of him turning out to be one of the best characters (in both games) and being able to do an OTG-less follow-up to Magneto’s DHC glitch.
Sentinel- Assist character. I really disliked his design, but playing him changed my mind and he’s just fun to play, regardless of awful, awful match-ups and being nerfed over and over.

^I hope to see some Modoks in the near future.

No die No die No Die No Die

Never before has a video of someone giving head been so upsetting.

Watching good MODOK play is about the the most fun I have with watching this game.

Playing against good MODOKs is still fun because I get to watch a good MODOK.

MINDFUCK.

Dunno, that title probably goes to Iron Man’s Repulsor Blast assist.

i use wesker, strider, dormammu, sentinel.

why i use wesker: hes the most bad ass villain ever made and yes, i’m a big resident evil fanboy. heres the video where he manhandled claire in code veronica. also, his re5 voice actor seems like a pretty cool guy.

strider: i used him since mvc1 and strider/doom was my main since day 2 in mvc2.

dormammu: i love his dark magick spells. 2c1d is my most favorite move in the game.

sentinel: loved him since cota and was praying for him to return since msh, xvsf, mshvsf, mvc1. he finally returned in mvc2 and was a beast in that game. in mvc3, he was the character i want back more than anyone else.

Frank - I love Dead Rising so very much, could not pass up an opportunity (besides buying a Wii) to play him, and then he turned out to be such an incredibly fun character who I’d build my team around.

Nemesis - Wasn’t too fussed when he was announced, but I gave him a try when I got the game and I was hooked, he’s obscenely fun. I tend to like big, hard hitting characters so he fits the bill. Plus all his goopy, sludgy disgusting moves are cool as shit. Helps Frank relaunch easily so he can level up, that’s about as far as synergy seems to go here.

Dormammu - Played him lots in Vanilla, very satisfying to play as, but I had literally zero idea who he was before MvC3. He went pretty well with Wesker, my main in Vanilla so that’s why I played him in that, and he goes very well with Frank when the journalist is on point, and he can put the shopping cart assist to good use too.

Kind of boring huh.

So just outta curiosity? How do you guys deal with vergils j. :d: :h:? The one that looks like dantes air :s:? The guide says its 0 on block and plus 2 in devil trigger, so its completely safe, but my friends spam that shit on me and it pisses me off, so I just want to find out if its something I just gotta suck up and deal with or if there is a way to make him pay for being so predictable and annoying with his offense.

The entire ace attorney franchise is point and click adventure games.

0 on block? If he’s not spacing right you can get a grab or you can xfactor cancle it into a dead Vergil. And if he’s being to predictable with it you can even get an air throw.

Is that what they’re classified as officially? Not tryna start or anything its just that, I wouldnt consider them adventure games at all.

He can actually teleport afterwards to make it safe lol

Character choices, eh? Don’t have time to write another essay, so here’s the abstract:

Spencer: Relatively simple character with lots of flexibility in his moveset. Allows for creativity in a way. Nice mixup game with unusual approach. I like those characters. Plus, the concept of whacking people and otherwise with a big bionic arm is appealing to me. And he has incredibly hammy lines.

Hsien-Ko: Overall cool character design in my opinion (not as cool here as in DS, but fine still). My favorite character and gameplay there, and she’s the character I knew best I felt. Though here it’s mostly just character loyalty and finding ways to make her work. Front page article on balance, yeah I know.

Taskmaster: Forms a solid core with Spencer, assist helps the other characters, simple but effective moveset. Kinda there to fill a role, really. Also completes the theme of The Kings and Queen of Swing Sans Spidey.

Nemesis: Don’t really like playing big boys usually, but brutal aesthetics/midrange options and resets are fun. Tentacles too (sorry Shuma). Makes for a pretty decent lead.

Once you know it’s coming dash under him on his way down and punish him, that’s how I punished Dante’s that spam jump S. I haven’t ran into any Vergils that spam that . . yet. Hope that helps you some

It should help if the Vergil is just a noob and doesnt teleport afterwards.

Honestly pretty much every character I play other than Strider I started playing because I thought they either had cool voiceovers or a cool theme. >.>

After about 800 games on PSN, I’ve found that there are 4 types of online players that you will see in Player Match.

The super armor Noah player who mashes H + uses Wesker + mashes TAC.

The trenchcoat team player who doesn’t have any execution with the Sparda twins + uses Wesker + mashes TAC.

The guy who uses 2 new characters + uses Wesker + mashes TAC.

The guy who uses 2 keepaway characters + gets to a corner and jumps all match + uses Wesker + mashes TAC.

Lobbies have some quality players though.

Also I think House of M Magneto is swag but I wouldn’t mind if they replaced him with Ian McKellen or Michael Fassbender Magneto.

I use Wright/Ammy/Hawkeye or Taskmaster.

Phoenix Wright: The character who I wanted the most even before vanilla was announced. I’m a huge fan of the Ace Attorney games and when I figured it was a Capcom game I thought “it would be cool to see Phoenix Wright in MvC3”. I started giving up hope about him getting in but when he got leaked in Ultimate it was pretty hard to believe. I still can’t believe he’s in as well. Anyway, the moment I saw him I knew I’ll always use him.

I mean…I’ve been waiting for 9 months to play him, and even if he turns out ass (which he is) I’m still using him. I’m just lucky he’s really fun and I don’t think I’ll have it any other way. lol he’s hard to make work but I’ll take that as a positive thing.

Amaterasu: After not liking Frank with Nick, I decided to give the reason I bought vanilla in the first place another chance to be in my main team. The reason I didn’t use her in vanilla much was because of how hard she was, and for a scrub like me it got annoying. I’m not regretting it, I love her a lot now, and she has great synergy with Wright. Though I haven’t played much of Okami, I’m a huge fan of the character.

Hawkeye/Taskmaster: Well I wanted to try Hawkeye with Nick. I love Clint, he’s a douche and I thought he’d work well with Wright with his assists help. I know there are other characters who would help Wright a lot more, like Doom, but I got tired of using Doom and Hawkeye was one of the my most hyped characters.

For Taskmaster, well the guy is my favorite Marvel character and since I love using him and his assist makes Nick a chipping monster I just decided to switch with him and Hawkeye on some matches. Depends on who I feel to use.

people are starting to pick sentinel again. havent had one match without having to fight him.
I thought kids were past this phase

I have no Idea why I played She Hulk in Vanilla. It just… clicked. All the characters I actually wanted to use - Morrigan, Hsien Ko, X-23 - wound up being extremely boring and/or weak. Yet She Hulk just felt right, even before people started unlocking her potential. The rest of the characters I used - Tron, Ammy, Taskmaster, Spencer - were picked simply to support her.

As for my current team, it’s more a situation of liking a character on top of them being effective. I love Felicia - even though I only decided maining her after I saw dat Yellow Iris alt - and I’m also a huge Dead Rising fan - plus, I really, really love weird characters - so Frank was also a must - and the fact that they work so well together made me really happy. The reason I use Vergil is simply because he’s damn good, though I also like the character and find him extremely fun to play.

On a side note, Lupinko just pretty much confirmed that Bad Box Art Megaman is going to be a guest character in SFxT - and he also sounds like a joke character.
The shitstorm will be delicious, though I pity the Unity mods.
