[]I may not read comics, but Deadpool’s wit and fourth-wall breaking made him one of my favorite characters since Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Playing him was a must.
[]Dead Rising was one of my favorite games. Plus, dat shopping cart.
[*]Taskmaster is a unique case. Like a large portion of Marvel players, I had never heard of this guy. After trying almost everyone else, I saw he had a counter and high priority arrows to complement his beastly normals. (SHIELD SKILLZ!) Over time, he kind of grew on me.

Deadpool’s personality is a big calling card for a lot of people that use him, and i like that. They don’t care where he is on the tier list, they care that he is as true to the comics as any character in the game. He is also really fucking fast. I also played him a lot in ultimate alliance, though I never put much work into him in marvel. Maybe one of these days, when I get sick of my current team I’ll seriously play him. I like how megamanSteve plays him and plays him very well. Deadpool is a much better character in Ultimate.
After much time of theorizing my teams I finally picked the game up today. When I get home, which will likely be late, I’m thinking of jumping right on a Spidey / Deadpool / Strider team and mucking around to see how it feels. Although I was never a hardcore player of MvC2 since I was very much a young 'un, I have fond memories of picking the game up from time to time when spotting an arcade cab and choosing the most ninjatastic characters-- Strider, Spiderman, and Jin Saotome hahaha.
You’re gonna have some work ahead of you. All 3 characters have awesome potential but they sure as hell aren’t ABCD like Wesker.
Strider and Spiderman are about tied for hard difficulty and Deadpool is more intermediate.
I’d rather tough it out with characters I genuinely like than fuck wit characters who are plain cut-and-dry in terms of technicality and don’t aesthetically appeal to me.
I’m still soul searching in Ultimate so I won’t count that. In Vanilla I played Zero/Dante/Magneto near the end of that game’s life.
I honestly didn’t expect to like Zero in this game. I’m not the biggest Mega Man fan ever and used to think he was for kids that wanna swing a cool sword around. He’s actually pretty cool though and he’s the perfect example of characters I like in fighting games. Good hitboxes, good rushdown, good zoning, low health. I try to play that kind of character all the time and Zero is that kind of character perfectly. That and he is pretty high execution and I try to stick to those characters as well otherwise I get bored.
I wanted to play Dante because he is one of my favorite Capcom characters. He’s also really fucking cool to watch and when people watch me play him it’s really entertaining to see their reactions to Dante’s combos. He is also handsome and I like aesthetically pleasing characters. He reminds me of the character archetype Zero is to a lesser extreme.
Magneto is just awesome. Probably my favorite Marvel character of all time. So much swag in his combos too. Felt really good when I finally got his flight loops down because learning those things is WORK.
In vanilla I’m playing Zero/Dante/Vergil because it works. Not the HUGEST fan of Vergil but Vergil is cool in his own right. I prefer Dante over him in playstyle and personality.
Also, I REALLY love the subject of character selection. That has to be my favorite video game related subject ever. You can learn so much about a person like that it’s amazing. If they’re really into it, that is.

[]I use Jill because I am a big fan of resident evil and she is my favorite character from the series and I just love her playstyle I even like her more in this game than in MVC2 even though I would take “I am a member of STARS” over her lame dialogue in this game (thank you wesker/sarcasm) some of her text quotes almost make up for it… almost. Oh and I almost forgot… dat ass
[]I picked Frank mostly because of his assist but I liked him in TVC and he is much more fun in this game. I have never played Dead Rising but it seems extremely fun (which reminds that I must get DR2:OTR lol). Also his megaman costume is way too awesome to pass up
[*]I played Doom because he is my favorite villain ever. I haven’t read a lot of comics books but he was awesome in the ones he appeared and I loved him in the shows (even though I don’t like any of the fantastic four shows where he appeared the most <.<) I love the way he talks (You have angered DOOM!) and his design is awesome. He was my favorite character in MVC2 and he was in most of the teams I tried in that game. And as mayor bonus he is great in this game and his assists are great too and they happen to help Jill a lot

Lifetime Spider-Man fan. I’m about as big of a Spidey fan as one can be without actually reading the comics (I love the cartoons and the movies and video games and all that, but I’m beyond the comic generation so I never got into it)
Strider was a favorite of mine from the fond memories of picking of Marvel 2 long ago, because he was “ninjatastic”.
Deadpool, I don’t recall how I first learned of him… Probably one of those treks on Wikipedia where you start on one page and one things leads to another… eventually I found out about him and realized he’s the kind of character I would like. Anyway, jump to the present, Deadpool is hilarious and fun and fast and crazy I don’t see why anybody wouldn’t pick him at some point and have a good time with him.
I like Dr Doom, too. I mean, this is a weird reason, I guess, but MF DOOM is one of my favorite rappers. If you don’t know, he’s known to always wear a mask akin to Doom as a part of his persona; his songs have sampled lines from old cartoons that refer to DD himself.
To just use this as an excuse to spout off some nonsense from me being a rap junkie, Ghostface Killah and Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan also have comic-related personas, “Tony Starks” (GFK’s debut solo album was titled Ironman) and “Johnny Blaze” respectively (But I’m not planning on picking up either Iron Man or Ghost Rider, haha)
Iron Fist, because he knows kung fu and I’m all about that shit. Except, I’ve been more into kung fu movies where there were multiple characters who knew how to fight well (Five Deadly Venoms!), not the Bruce Lee films (which weren’t certifiably “kung fu”) where he’s the one guy that beats everybody up. So yeah, the whooping and shouting turns me off to him somewhat even though I like the idea of a guy like him.
I guess I’ll be more in depth about my Shuma/Frank/Wesker
Shuma- I own his comic book appearances and Ive played him ever since MSH back in the day. He was my favorite character and has always been my main. Also I think he represents all of the “lost” marvel characters that people have forgotten over time. So I feel like I’m avenging lost heroes when using him XD.
Frank- I wanted to choose a new person in Ultimate because it was a new game. Ive played Dead Rising and loved it, and Frank is totally awesome. He’s my favorite capcom hero now alongside viewtiful joe ( Megaman has been gone for awhile) Also I just find Frank’s moveset of “survival tools” to be one of the most unique things Ive seen in a fighting game.
Wesker - In every fighting game you have to have an anchor. A solid rock that can turn matches around. Wesker is fucking concrete when it comes to stabalization.
NOOOOOO! Why’d you change your av from sexy Lady? Nonetheless yeah I like these convos too especially a lot of people DONT play certain characters for specific reasons as well. Like I refuse to play Wolvie. I actually like his personality but his playstyle just seems to easy for me. I’ve sorta started a liking for Mags but still him having crazy mix-ups and can zone as well just makes him seems bleh to me. etc etc
Yeah man, I agree with that. I’m a real nice guy in person, I hate confrontations, and I tend to gravitate to the complete opposite in this game. I love super evil characters (I play mags/dorm/skrull). I just like unorthodox characters (dorm and skrull imo are very noob unfriendly, and thus not seen as much online, leading to favorable matchups for me) and magneto is just so swagtastic like you mentioned. Learning his combos is so much work but is def worth it, and he fits very well with my other two characters. swag swag.
 oh thats a lovely piece of Jill art that I must add to my collection
on the subject of characters I wouldn’t play I would never touch Hsien-ko, I mean she was one of my favorites characters in VS but they took away almost everything I liked about her and then they shitted on everything that was left (and that makes me sad :()
other character I wouldn’t play outside of trolling purposes is Phoenix I just don’t like limiting my other characters to get dark phoenix and proceed to (according to my experience in vanilla) destroy the opposition. The last character I wouldn’t play is Wesker, I love the guy in RE but he is way to derpy for me. Wolverine would be in this list too but I like him since I was a kid and I used him in MVC1 and my friends tell me I do a great imitation of his voice
