UMvC3 General Discussion: You can't control it

I didnt say TAC is uncounterable, but the small input time plus having a 33% chance makes it retarded for something thats so easy and has a high reward

Serious question, what do you need a hyper to deal with in this game?

And I’m not trying to “play the victim,” Im not even the one who said he’s completely invincible but it is a great tactic for something thats so simple to do. The best strategy I’ve heard is GR’s jS which is a character dependent strategy. Teleports arent great unless you time them right as he is calling her or he can block and then you’ll push him into the shield where he can block.

URRBRRRSSS

Oh yeah.

Reminds me of those old Storm backwards combos… forgot what Xmen game that was (Xmen vs. SF I think)

So, after 8 months of trying characters, I finally came upon a team I love and will probably stick with for a while. My team is Magnus, Dormammu, Skrull. I now realized what I love about these characters. They are all evil characters with cool level 3s. Skrull’s level 3 is my fav in the game and Dormammus is my second fav (Ryu in my opinion is the 3rd coolest). So it got me wondering, why do you play the team you play? I’m just curious to hear what people have to say.

Shuma Frank Wesker.

Shuma Rapes Advancing guard.

Cool, so that’s 1/3 of your team. Why frank and wesker? is it cus wesker is a beast and frank’s assist is also beastly? cus you like trench coats? photographers? or cus theyre both there to help shuma be the chaos that he is? I love shuma’s dash btw.

Magneto’s DLC alt might be on blast.

Snapping in Phoenix.

What do you mean?

Dante/Dorm/Ammy

By themselves - I’ve been in love with Dante’s character design and personality since DMC3. He’s just so badass and since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by combos in fighting games so I loved DMC3 even though I sucked at combos. MvC3’s combos+Dante made it a day one purchase for me. IDK about Dorm. I’ve just always wanted to play him since the game came out but sucked with him at first. Ammy is just fun to use and the Okami demo I played was fun as hell. Plus she has counters and can punish assists as good as Dorm (purification lulz) and Dante (Stinger BC Reverb).

As a team - Dante is a rushdown beast and I’ve been maining him since Day 1. Ammy helps lock down opponents and in Vanilla, I could use Cold Star during combos to help push opponents into the corner. If things are looking bad, I can zone out for a second or two and do Devil Trigger xx Stalker Flare to change from rushdown to zoning. If I happen to kill a character near the corner, I can do Million Dollars xx Stallker Flare, lay a flame carpet and then tag back in Dante or Ammy to try and open up the next person. Dorm is good at rushdown and zoning plus does good dmg with his combos. I have to work on my relaunch combos, but I love the fact that he can carry opponents from nearly fullscreen to the corner (whats a Magneto?). It also helps that most people online dont know what his powers do except for three reds. Lastly I can DHC safely into Vale of Mist from basically anything. Ammy’s speed in XF3 is ridiculous in this game but I set her as anchor bc she can usually hold her own if Im playing my best. Can combo off her air throw, has counters, small hit box, fast normals, and can zone the shit out of large characters.

Eh, I dont snap in Phoenix. Not trying to sound good or nothing, but Id rather just fuck up the other two characters and if I have to deal with Darky, oh well. Wasting a bar for a potential kill seems dumb to me especially bc of how much harder it is to build meter in this game.

LOL problem is 2-3 seconds is enough for those trenchcoat bastards to kill Wright 4 times over. Getting bad evidences means even more openings for people to crave him apart.

I like how you pick your teams. Dante is badass, though i hate him from being so prevalent in vanilla. dormmy is badass and ammy is really good, yet so rare to see online now in umvc.

regarding phoenix though, you probablly wouldnt snap her in in regular online play, but in high level play, you always wanna snap her in no matter what. She can ovc like the best of them.

Yea I can understand in high lvl play but it really depends on what strats you/your opponent use especially with side TAC taking away one meter. Then you have people like X-23 who can kill her in literally one hit, Vergil can make her block Round Trip once she comes in and go into Spiral Swords then Sword Storm letting him try to open her up and then if anything hits her, he can use Dimensional Slash to kill her, etc. Im not saying snapping Phoenix in is a bad idea, but more or less it depends on what your team is capable of. For example (not sure if this works), can Viper use a hyper on reaction to one of her teleports and kill her?

Man, all this hate on King Juaneto.

Isn’t this why most movies have that “ANY SIMILARITIES TO PEOPLE IRL ARE TOTALLY COINCIDENTAL SHUT UP FUCK YOU” disclaimer at the beginning/end of them? Shouldn’t this carry over to comic books/vidja/vidja based on comic books?

Well this definitely proves that is a good idea.

I dunno, I’d be honored to be represented as the Master of Motherfucking Magnetism.

Maybe they’ll give him the Colonel outfit. Then Honzo wouldn’t have been trolling after all!

I’m running Frank / Haggar / Ghost Rider.

Frank - I have never played a Dead Rising game but the design decisions behind the series always interested me. Once I saw his level-up mechanic, I knew I had to try him out. I love doing lab work and he was the perfect character for me to explore. Also I had a strong hunch that he would have a strong synergy with my main man.

Haggar - I tend to favor cumbersome, grappler characters in most games. In SFII I was all about Gief. 3S was Hugo. In GG i loved Potemkin. SSFIV I spent a long time trying to make Hakan work. With a strong nostalgia for the Final Fight series (especially FF3) he was an obvious choice. I’ve been using him on point since day-one vanilla. I was originally thinking of working in Phoenix Wright but realized that I needed an assist that would do two things, help me get in at range and successfully extend combos past a second OTG. Luckily it didn’t take me long to stumble upon my third.

Ghost Rider - An assist that covers 3/4 of the screen and wall-bounces? Yes please! Thanks to him I can combo corner-to-corner with either Frank for level 4 or Haggar for 1 mil damage. The icing on the cake us the fact that on point, he does amazingly against most zoners which is exactly where Frank and Haggar are weakest. It’s kismet.
