Dude, Strider is so broken freaking Sword Dance and Double Team all day. Not to mention that BS Extremespeed.
Why is Wesker so popular now? He’s a tiny bit better than he was in Vanilla (His only real nerf is no longer hit confirming off of the gun and the window of OTG is smaller) is it because a large majority of the top tiers were nerfed?
Yeah, to use another Pokémon metaphor, the meta around him was kind to him. That, and he’s easy to use and relatively unchanged, so he’s reliable.
How do people deal with a team like Felicia/X-23/Trish
Basically all they do is jump up and use aerial moves that are positive on block so you cant do shit about it (Wolvie times 3 without the Berserker Slash). Counters wont work because they use Trish’s Low Voltage assist. Once they get a hit it’s ABC, into lolyoucantcounterthis TAC, into two hypers combos. Obviously lockdown doesnt work because they’re at superjump height and throwing any of them is out of the question (the first two will usually hit you first and Trish uses OS air throw).
I sometimes hate that this game is so relatively easy that the simplest bullshit is considered a great strategy.

I hate air hoggers too, bastards won’t fight me like a man! or woman…or robot, wolf or a zombie, or a demon- you know what i mean! Which is why Strider’s vajra assist basically says stop attacking at super jump height and come face my Nemesis.
That seems to be the formula online especially people from mexico. I literally just played about 5 people from mexico and there team all had wesker in them lol needless to say i ran thru them, but damn they kill one character they teabag and taunt. At least do it if you win the match and i get called a pussy for winning and leaving xD

On a more positive note, I like to see Wesker players raw teleport into Nemesis “Starfish” (j.H) and get blown up pretty badly. On the other hand, its still a pretty bad matchup. I don’t care really if Wesker is great, sure he’s good but he’s just so kid-friendly its ridic, I came to the MVC3 scene without any knowledge of the game and picked up Wesker (I saw his trailer and I was like RE fan? check, Teleports? check, badassery? check) Never really knew the otherside of it but considering how fast I picked up Wesker, its easy to “seem” good if you play a very basic Wesker. Not to say anybody who plays Wesker are auto-scrub (Though I feel there many out there) combos with Wesker don’t really go too far out of specials and magic series, but with Viscant fundementals it just seems on allot bigger scale.
Take out Wesker, Phoenix, X-factor, a few of the Sparda Bros moves, teleports, Scrub missiles, Doom’s derp tier foot dive, slow Spencer’s zip line, and you have the perfect fighting game.
I rotate teams but yeah it seems as though I need to join the Strider bandwagon. The whole time it was nothing but sj into Delta Kick/Talon Attack/Stiletto Kick. I left after about 10 matches and didnt even msg him and then I get a msg about how “if it makes me feel better” he doesnt use the same combos. I msg him saying how I hate that his team uses all aerial moves that are plus on block (the lowest is +4:wtf:) and he says that they’re still punishable. I dont think he understood what + means.
The only thing I hate more than the BS in Mahvel, is the people who use the easiest BS and thinks they’re great players.

I gotta agree except for Phoenix and teleports. Although I dont think teleports should be able to be used in the air unless they make it so that air teleports have even more recovery than their ground versions. Phoenix wouldnt be such bullshit if you didnt get the most BS character in Mahvel 3 just for (technically) losing against your opponent. Fuck it, make Dark Phoenix Mahvel’s Pandora mode. You’ve got 7 counts to kill the opposing team or Phoenix dies (tagging doesnt negate this) and activating XF makes it 3 counts.
you guys think phoenix is still that big an issue with all the meter draining technology?
for example,
I know morrigan isn’t the best, but literally even a 5 bar phoenix has trouble with an astral vision set-up meter draining fireball combo.
i’m a crappy beginner and the person was trying to get their dark phoenix in, i got morrigan in set up astral vision they tried to teleport and they were left with 3.5 bars. and IIRC they do approx 6-70,000 a piece of her sub 400,000?
at least with phoenix when you see the issue an dhit it once its dead.
with some like, mr. hot topic global saturation, nova, hawkeye etc, you have a bit of a harder time simply nipping the issue in the butt.

I think teleports should actually cost meter. like 1/4th of a bar.
Other than maybe number 3, all of these are fucking terrible ideas and you should slap yourself.
They’re abusing BS better than their competitors, so I don’t see how that doesn’t make them the better player.

I’d actually be fine with that and most of my characters use teleports.
The problem with that is that it’s a character dependent strategy. And then there’s the side TAC that takes away meter but most advanced players will know about that and just hit that if they want to save their meter (I think most Phoenix players will take more dmg on their point character rather than less meter).
There’s a difference between using easier BS and using BS better than your opponent. Easier BS would be something like using Wolvie in Vanilla. Using BS better would be both players using Wolvie and you beating the other Wolvie.
Im mexican bro not trying to be racist lol i was trying to make a joke but seriously i did face five people they were all from mexico. they were using wesker as anchor. Not every wesker is auto scrub there are good ones out there,but these guys after i played the first match i beat them they switched over to a wesker team. The last guy i played started with a sentinel,hawkeye,akuma i beat him he ran to wolvy akuma wesker. I beat him like 5 matches in a row left and got called a pussy for beating him.

Its like i was mentioning in another thread people are just familiar with wesker he’s an easy mode character who leads to big damage. Just like vanilla pre patch sentinel were going to see alot of wesker in the beginning span of umvc3. When people start to figure him out and when some of the other characters get explored wesker will go down in the tier listings. We need to let the game evolve naturally and not cry for nerfs its natural for people to go for the easy wins. It showed in NEC top eight that shit was sloppy man to much people were relying on that dark wesker and blew up in people faces.
Even though pr rog ended up taking the whole thing with wesker in his team it was actually his wolvie doing all the work. Chris g also went with his wesker team but his hawkeye,ryu combination was what made his team shine. Even justin wong gameplay was sloppy as shit man i know he played that team in vanilla but it looked like he was trying to rely on xfc wesker and he got blown up. I hate to admit it but noel brown actually impressed me not a fan of him but i felt his wolvie was the mvp of his team wesker was just the back up there. In the end wesker is good but there’s better characters than him, i tought wolvie was nerfed looks like if people dont drop him he still going to be a force to reckon with.
As to who is top tier in this game thats still up in the air this game looks more balanced then vanilla. Looks like more characters are going to be viable people just need to explore and search for new tech. I cant say this enough lets let umvc3 evolve naturally and see where it takes us. Look at mvc2 ice man was top in the beginning due to alot of his easy mode crap and not taking chip damage from beams and magneto was crap considered low. At the end magnus was one of the best characters in the game and iceman was considered crap. I know its a long shot here cause i know there’s going to be scrubs crying for nerfs and capcom is going to listen and then 10 months from now we’ll be getting Umvc3 2012 version!!
