i keep hearing the idea that newer tech will discourage certain characters. In the long run yes tech will be discovered. replacing solid characters, i think not. Wesker is gonna be here for a MINUTE.
he has been solid since vanilla. Heās common because heās almost a guarantee. his otg assist is like a universal combo extender.
āscrubsā ( i really do not encourage the use of the term)arenāt really complaining, the newer people actually gravitate toward him. wesker has a solid game plan. and not a bad one in this game. Hes someone who may never be best but he certainly is as solid as it gets at a lower level and is a certainty at a higher level.
Risk-reward.
the risks-reward ratio of someone like iron man/viper will likely not anytime in the near future reach the risk reward-ratio of wesker, regardless of the tech.
even if someone replaces him as a better point character (which plenty of people do) how many characters make a better team-mate? who else is as self-sufficient?

I might pick the game back up after my week long sabbatical, although I guess Iāll be going back to my vanilla team of Taskmaster/Dante/Felicia. As much as I love P.Wright and Frank, it just doesnāt work to have two characters who have to have tons of work put in to make them powerful.

I think itās just the correlation between Mexico having horrid internet infrastructure (even by Western Hemisphere standards), and the fact that Wesker doesnāt require too much execution. And the fact that he dresses like heās in 1999.

I donāt think Wesker should be nerfed but I do agree he is fucking bullshit this early in the gameās lifespan. I played about 90 matches today and not a single fucking match lacked a Wesker on it.
A Wesker anchor in the back just promotes laziness in alot of online players. Canāt do a Magneto loop? Its okay, just use Wesker assist. Canāt OTG with Zero? Itās okay, just use Wesker assist. Canāt do a Sentinel fly/unfly? Itās okay just use Wesker assist. Canāt do any Vergil combo worth watching? Itās okay, use Wesker assist. Youāre ass with your first two characters? Itās okay XF Level 4 Wesker will fuck people in the face for you.
At least Doom frauds are still complete ass even with Wesker assist. Btw, Doom + Drones laughs at Wesker.

Playing characters like Wesker or Akuma brings out the evil in you. I havenāt teabagged anyone since I stopped playing Akuma. Taunting will still happen especially when beating someone real disrespectful or the trench coat mafia. I also noticed I used TAC alot more in vanilla, for the most part I donāt use it unless Iām looking to save meter and tag someone in safely.

The Wesker hate is emerging only because heās more evident in rosters than ever before, now his BS is the only one that really sticks out because allot of it is gone. Sure I lose to Magneto ROM loops and thats crazy damage but at least its commendable, Felicia too Iām fine when I get bodied by one because i respect that. But when everyone thinks theyāre āteh greatestā because they can do free extended combos with Wesker and ToD on an entire team with XF3 yeah, its noticeable to bring the hate. Its not like Wesker was ever bad or good now its just the strange amount of use heās getting, and iām not sure why the sudden increase in popularity.
All the derpy vanilla berderper slash Wolvie and lvl 3 XF dark Phoenix users picked up Wesker. Thatās where the increase of use comes from. Heās the only one alot of ppl can fall back on for really easy ToD bnb combos.

its not some wave washing over the people, or some mystic hidden epiphany. its literally, oh hey, phoenix is gone i should instantly win every matā¦ wait a second, whos that? did i just lose because of him? grrr.
and now he gets a strength and speed increase as heās hit or uses his non counter hyper.
