None of the top 5 marvels characters will get in. It’s pretty funny.
obviously you’re referring to my post. I’m not sure if you are trying to flame me or just troll. Quite honestly I don’t understand what you mean. I didn’t say it like you quoted “I’m oldschool, like the '90s cartoon”. You quoted me wrong if you were “quoting” me anyway. All I was saying was as a kid I enjoyed the 90’s x-men cartoon and I liked the character Cable. Not sure why you have to make a thing about it and bein in my upper 20’s I do consider myself oldschool because I grew up and experienced all of the 90’s to the fullest… again not sure why you make a thing about that as well.
I normally wouldn’t reply to something like this and I was most likely baited but I am kinda curious what your gripe is with those sayings.
-bulldozer
-reverse
-pop a wheelie
-super bulldozer
-Lvl3 doughnut
-walk (costs 10 meters)
I approve!
Foxhound, allow me my geezerdom. “Damn kids these days always think that their youth was oldschool.”
Referencing Cable and the term in question at the same time is an atrocity. The introduction of cable was a dark dark time in comcsdom.

I always feel like cable fans are just lucky enough to be too young to remember.
As hot as bear-cable is, you need to put that stuff into spoilers.
fixt, sorry.
and to me, ‘oldschool’ will always be ‘before Liefeld ruined everything’. But I’m wandering off-topic a little…
Like I said in my post, there’s a ton of options with him and how he’d play would vary with what you want to go with. He has weapons that could be used for zoning and tools for rush down. Personally, I’d like him to play like an inverse of Chris. Chris mainly uses his special weapons to create openings, especially with the magnum, but not quite as much to extend his combos. I imagine X playing somewhat the opposite with a few special weapons helping cover him as he approaches with his better maneuverability and then his special weapons extend his combos.
An easy way to incorporate X’s special weapons would be to have a single attack motion do different attacks based on the attack button used. Like QCF+L gives Spin Wheel from X2 that can OTG and with assists lead to relaunches. +M Could be X1’s Storm Tornado for long range but also help with combos since it hits so many times that if X recovers quick enough from using it he can continue the combo that way and something else with +H. Doing something similar with QCB or DP motions would give an easy way to incorporate at least one thing from every X game.
There’s about three things that I think X must have to be viable and not just a gimmick character. First, a lot of people wanting X say that he should use an armor change system with two-three different armors that he can swap to with meter. In my opinion, this is one of the worst ideas I’ve heard and would KILL any chance X has to be useful. There’s already too many power up hypers in the game already and if you look at the armors from the X games, they don’t give abilities so amazing that you would need to sacrifice a meter to use them. If you look at the games, the armors only do three things. The body armor reduced damage taken and allowed for a giga attack (which would be perfect sources for viable hyper combos), the arm parts gave an altered charge shot, and the boots offered more mobility. An armor change feature would mean X uses a meter to have an air dash and a different charge shot. Horrible. The armor powers would serve X a lot more as command normals, command dashes, and source material to make X’s charge shot unique.
Which leads to the second thing that I think X needs, a different charge shot. Of the three buster shots seen in the VS series, only Zero’s has been viable. The problem with Classic and Volnutt’s busters is that they weren’t practical for combos and were weak zoning tools. Couple that with the fact that you actually have less attack buttons because of this and it’s a disaster. To keep X feeling like his original game counterpart (which is something Capcom references a lot, such as claiming Dante plays just like a DMC game) X’s buster should mimic the Double X Buster from X2, X3, and X4. In those games, the X buster, when charged would have two shots. After releasing the attack button, X would fire a charge shot, but then he would have a second that would fire the next time the attack button is pressed. In MvC3, X would still have the normal buster shot with the H button, but if charged using H, the first shot would cause a stagger if on the ground or a soft knockdown when done in the air, and then X would store a second charge shot that would fire the next time he hits H and could cause a wall bounce. The second charge couldn’t stay indefinitely, that’d be cheap, so have the second charge last with X for like 4~5 seconds or whatever seems reasonable. It doesn’t have to work exactly that way but a double charge shot of some kind would help his combos, give him a unique charge shot, and would be true to his source games’ playstyle.
Last thing he needs to help his mobility and stay in tune with his gameplay feel from the X games, is a type of command dash. In the X games, the way how every experienced player moved was with dash jumps, where you do a ground dash and then jump. X would travel further, higher, and would be much more mobile in the air this way. To keep X’s command dash unique and not just a copy of Zero’s, X’s command dash should mimic his games and all his command dash variants should put X airborne where he would be more mobile and the different attack buttons used to activate the dash would alter the angle X jumps at. L would be close to the ground but go the furthest, M at a 45 degree angle or so to help go over attacks like fireballs but not go as far as the L version, and the H would launch X straight up allowing for cross up attempts.
And for the heck of it, I’d like to see Tornado Fang from X3 be used as a command normal. Tornado Fang is a missile with a drill on it, but the charged version would change X’s arm into a drill, so forward+M could be X moving forward a bit with the drill and if used in the air would have X using the drill downward at an angle like Tron’s Jumping L or something making it X’s air-to-ground tool of choice.
Anyway, if X were to get in, I’d want him to have something similar to those three things I mentioned so X would have tools to use, easy to pick up, and finding ways to incorporate his multiple special moves to extend his combos would give him depth and versatility. X needs that so his potential inclusion isn’t brushed off as charity to shut up MegaMan fans with a token character and is instead a viable choice to add to teams.
Wow. That was a mouthful.
tl;dr: Special weapons would extend combos, no armor change supers, charge shot would have two shots and store a second one, and a command dash that puts X in the air with better mobility for cross up attempts.
Dante + Zero?
I hate to be “that guy” (seeing as I already brought her up twice), but there was a miscount concerning Tessa. She has 18 votes, enough to place in the Top 15. Should I send this to Diek?
Unless the poll ran differently than I think it did.
Noble Cactus: God why are you so friggin’ obsessed with Tessa, let it go already Wait, that’s needlessly hostile. Let me try again!
You could, but then Diek will have to kill you. That vote count was classified information. …Still not right.
You could, but that will knock Roll out of the results list. Mega Man fans might rip you limb from limb. Well, that’s possible, but unlikely… one last try!
Yes, you probably should. Diek seems like a pretty reasonable sort, I doubt he’d get angry over you sending him a correction. He had to count several hundred votes by himself. I’m willing to give a meaningful Margin of Error for that no matter who’s counting the votes; the implications are obvious. He’ll probably care to know about this, and Capcom should be given as accurate information as possible. It doesn’t matter that bringing it up is directly relevant to your interests and agenda (Yes, wanting a specific character in the game and taking steps to promote that is ‘an agenda’; meaning I have a pro-Nina agenda, Mr. X has a pro-Gene agenda, etc., and none of these are evil things)… it doesn’t matter at all; the truth is the truth, and if you believe you have caught a vote-counting error then you should double-check it and definitely report it if you come up with the same mistake twice.
Point me out which post(s) I missed out (even I am human) via pm and I’ll look into it, it could however been a void voting ballads.
I agree with pretty much everything you said except for this part. Classic MvC MM has always had a useful tool in his buster shot. A one-button fireball is great for not only zoning, but for approach. It was useful to deal w/Magneto in MvC2, as it kept his rushdown in check (to some extent). You could fire one in the air and wavedash behind it to try to start an offense. I’ll admit that the buster wasn’t as good for combos, but the cool thing about it was that you could charge it while in hitstun. It’s unique in that way since you at least got a nice tool to use after eating a particularly long combo.
Volnutt’s buster is pretty much Classic MM’s on steroids. When combined with an IAD and air weapon switches, you can cover a lot of the screen with your little pellets for zoning. You could also get a few off when approaching from full-screen, allowing you to get across the screen very quickly while staging an offense. The charge shot was also very helpful in combos as it not only added extra damage but was super cancel-able into the Machine Sweep, doing quite a bit of damage. Being able to rain them down from a super jump is always nice, too.
Alright. The deed has been done.
Keep me posted on how that goes. I’ll edit the opening post if it turns out to be upheld and Tessa should have Roll’s 15th place finish. …No, wait. 18, you said? If that’s upheld, she’d have… 13th place, ahead of Cammy and knocking Roll off the list, I believe?
Will do. Is there any reason why B.B. Hood is also 15, yet is one place above Roll and would stay on?
I forgot to vote lol. I would’ve voted for her. Not that that’s valid at this point.
God MegaMan fans obsess about their characters. I mean no other fandom is soo…pitiful.
Sonic and My Little Pony
If Zero didn’t feel like the Grand Master Cheese of MvC3 I’d play him, but unfortunately, he doesn’t. That h, j.h, Blaster, and pretty much his entire move set puts him on par with ‘Amy-like stupid’ for having little room for error. So… give me Bass, Protoman, Sigma, or anyone from the MM universe who isn’t as cheesy as Zero or as unbearably slow as Tron and I’ll give you a MM fan who isn’t ‘pitiful’.
