Ms Marvel actually has a Shot seeing as Marvel was pushing for her to be in vanilla. The other 4 … No chance in hell.
…You’re right. I hadn’t noticed that. That said, I have no control over the polls or vote tallies. I thought B.B. Hood had 16 votes, one more than Roll. Turns out they’re tied. Should this cause a mutual tie for 14th, and bring in one more character that placed 16th (now 15th)? That’s worth wondering.
I’ll add that to my messages to Diek. If it works out that way, everyone wins!
Though this means that unless Diek still has a personal list of the results and has a 16th place already counted…
Shit.
Tessa’d still be right below Nina anyway, so it’s okay. No offense to Nina; I wouldn’t mind her in.
Wait, you’re complaining that Zero is…too good for a true Megaman fan?
If your connotation of cheesy is good, then yeah, I am.
If cheesy means, having high priority attacks that easily chain into each other creating “little room for error”, then you are referring to something
that’s considered good in fighting games. I guess you prefer the little blue guy jumping up and down hitting
fierce over and over in mvc2?
No serious Marvel player wants half of these BS characters in the game. Just bring back the rest of the viable MVC2 cast and call it a game. I can’t believe people really want Gambit and Venom in the game over Cable or Blackheart. I guess it must be cool to vote for unviable characters instead of the classics that pushed your shit in for years and actually have unqiue play style that are not represented in MVC3.
Multi-hit normal on ground that defeats the purpose of Advancing Guard, check.
Multi-hit normal that crosses up in air, check.
Low health to defend having mechanics that allow any beginner to pick up Zero and feel like a pro, check.
The 400+ times I played Zero in ranked and realized I’d rather jump up and press :h: implying I wasn’t doing that with Zero already except in a charge form instead, check.
I hated Megaman in MvC2. I hated his playstyle, I hated his moveset, and I hated the voice actor they had for him. For the same reasons I hated MM in MvC2, I hate Zero in MvC3. If they bring back MvC2 MM, then I’ll say I hate him just like I’m saying I hate Zero right now.
How about this: I want a non-multihitting Megaman Character who can satisfy my fan based desires without making everyone I play feel like I put in ‘Zero’ effort to win. I’d also like them to be a bit more speedy than Tron without the predictability of jump dash :h: everyone seems to love so much.
I think you just want to play MvC2. I say bring back the viable XvsSF cast.
Oh you care what people think of you. What a shame.
You should put the results of top 40 or something. I’m interested to know what characters from other Capcom franchises placed well. For instance, who placed the best among the Rival Schools characters?
Good stuff keeping it up. I didn’t like you putting partial vote count on the first page while the poll was running, though, as it may lead to some bias. But no surprises among the top names.
I still don’t get how there are so many people who are so sure Asura is a good choice for this game. How the hell do we not know that Asura’s Wrath isn’t going to just completely BOMB like every other title that tries to be God of War? I just don’t see the point in adding in a character who has absolutely no history (and very likely no future) when there are tons of proven Capcom icons not in.
As for Capcom not putting characters from dead franchises in - they have Arthur and the Darkstalkers crew. Franchises don’t get much deader than them.
As for Mega Man (or any variation of him), he’s going to be saved as the trump card for when Marvel 3’s popularity begins to fall, much the same way that Freddy was added just as MK9 was beginning to lose its popularity. Coincidence? Probably - but a good move none the less. It creates instant hype for casual players (some of whom, if all goes according to plan, will become pros - so we all win.)
As for Marvel’s side, I don’t really keep up with them, but I want to see more characters with “the most common super power”. I personally wanted to see Mystique with an ‘XCOPY’ style ability (yes, I know she can’t actually copy powers, only appearances - shut up), but any boob is a good boob.
My personal choices for each side was Linn Kurosawa and Molly Hayes.
Who said anything about me? I’m just stating the obvious. No real Marvel player wants Venom or Gambit in the game. They want all the classics to be represented and fleshed out in a new engine especially those with unique plays styles the best examples being Cable and Blackheart. Even Clockwork said it “I fuckin hate Cable but he should have been in this game”
No, I was just trying to get you off my balls and stop you from taking my words into the kind of context meant to make me salt all over your face.
I don’t like Zero, plain and simple, take it however you want.
I don’t like Tron, plain and simple, take it however you want.
I don’t like MvC2 Megaman, plain and simple, take it however you want.
I want a Megaman character that fits me as a player, plain and simple, take it however you want.
I won’t be getting it ever, no matter how much I beg and grovel, plain and simple, take it however you want.
Characters change from game to game. Just because Cable and Blackheart were beasts in MvC2 doesn’t mean much of jack when it comes to MvC3. Just look at Sentinel & Storm for the proof.
Marvel FANS (and by ‘Marvel’, I’m referring to the Marvel universe, not just one of the games in the Versus series) want Venom and Gambit because they represent fond memories of the 80s & 90s for them. They don’t want them because of some high-priority moveset, supers that do ridiculous damage or assists that can significantly change a matchup from a prior game. They want them because they like the characters.
If you love Cable and Blackheart as characters, that’s fine. To love them for their moveset, though, is a little silly. So much can change in the transition from MvC2 and MvC3 - and quite frankly, it should.
You are a very straight forward person. If it weren’t for the fact you insulted my sisters of battle we could have been friends.
If you don’t want armor change supers, then just ask for Classic, because that’s what you’d be getting.
I know my post kind of a long one, but you should at least read that part if you have disagreements with my opinion.
X would still have his armor powers, but they’d be command normals, dashes, source material for making X’s charge shot unique, and the giga attacks they give would be better hyper combos.
If you look at the armors from the X games, there’s only three powers that they have that would serve a purpose in a fighting game. The boots gave X different dashs and tools for mobility, the buster gave a different charge shot, and the body armor gave a giga attack like the G Crush and Nova Strike. I don’t see any benefit to adding ANOTHER power up hyper to the already extensive list of them in UMvC3 just so X can use flight mode / have an air dash, a different charge shot (which would be hurtful for him since your charge time is also using up your power up time), and access to other hyper combos which would mean X would have to spend two meters just to do a simple hyper like Sent’s Plasma Storm or Skrull’s Inferno.
The most viable option I’ve heard for using an Armor change hyper is that it would change X’s special weapons their charged versions. Sure that’s functional, but isn’t that exactly the same as Arthur’s gold armor and Dante’s Devil Trigger word for word? After how much Seth Killian and Niitsuma keep going on about how they want the characters’ respective playstyles unique, making him more like the other characters would only hurt his chances of being added and hurt his potential moveset.
Simple reasoning actually. Everything he does screams Fighting Game Badassery. Name another Capcom Character New or Old who Has Trailers/Feats Half as Epic as Asura… … I will wait.
As for Tons of proven Capcom Icons, they are pretty well represented. Outside of Onimusha and BOF that is and even their feats pale before Asuras trailer feats. Thats pretty sad when you think about it.
It’s very easy to use a bunch of flashy special effects to make your character do ‘badassery’. It’s much harder for there to be any actual weight behind it.
I watched the trailer for the game again earlier today to refresh myself on the character and even now I’m having trouble remembering anything significant. Dude (I assume Asura, I dunno) runs at a bunch of guys, takes a bunch of spears to the chest, keeps running, does some weird magic fisticuffs stuff on some ‘boss’ guy, summons Buddha and then magically gains six arms. That’s about all I remember. None of it meant anything to me.
I have very little reason to care about the character I’m playing as because there is no character building. It’s just one enemy after the other, with stupidly ridiculous violence thrown in to make me forget about the fact that I’m just playing as a corporate suit’s idea of what it would be like to throw Kratos and Akuma into a blender.
To each his own. I look at Asura and I see nothing more than an empty shell. To be fair, though, I thought the same of Kratos, and people seem to love him despite him having the personality of a balled-up fist.
Yeah they only do those things…if you don’t count past X3.
And even then, there’s upwards airdash which could be a double jump. There’s a little more to it than what you’re mentioning.
-Airdashes
-Flight
-Buster upgrade
*Extra level
*Double shot (As well as the X3 combine-able shot variant)
*Quadruple shot
*Plasma shot (Leaves plasma ball where it hit the enemy)
*Piercing shot
*Complete change of buster mechanics to power up the damage and limit the attack range
(That’s just X1-5 FYI)
-Weapon charging
-Ultimate attack
And that’s not including the implied Marvel-attributes such as 8-way airdashing and super armor on certain armors. The way I see it, X should have no less than 3 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT armor hypers that go as far as to change his frame data and alter the way you can play him for the duration, as well as being able to be used during one-another’s durations. They should combine different Marvel aspects as well as mechanics from the games that I listed to create a truly unique meter-reliant character that plays different from anyone else, as well as with everything you posted (except the “no armor” part)
There’s also the fact you didn’t address his Hyper combo attacks at all except saying what he shouldn’t have.
