Phoenix is dead too. Nightcrawler is just too similar to other characters to have shot though.
Is Phoenix ever really dead? Shes been resurrected like what 4 times now. That bitch ain’t dead.
I like to think that she’s dead for good this time. I’ve always hated her.
Ryu (BoF) has been a pretty consistent force on these polls, I see. He’s almost always in a spot between #14 and #18.
Nina started in the high #20s, I think, and gradually worked her way up into the #14-15s.
I was pretty amused by Katt at #49 with 21 votes. Guess BoF awareness has been rising lately with the PSN release and DLC polls.
As for the rest… I’m wondering if we’ll get Anti-Venom due to Venom demand. I personally don’t know much about Marvel, so any character is fine with me as long as they add to the gameplay.
Tessa may not be the flashiest character as a candidate (the flashiest tend to be made for this game, which makes sense), and she does have a DP and a fireball, but she has some other tricks beyond fireball fireball fireball uppercut. Her normals make for some good spacing options, her cannons cover important aerial angles, she has a counter-ish move, and she can do crossups with her ghosts/force people to avoid them, leading into whatever else. And who knows what they could do with her throw and OTG. It’s honestly a little hard to tell when there’s no competetive scene for her game, but I think she can offer more than just “another Shoto” to the game. Maybe someone else can elaborate on what I said; I typed this in a hurry.
Thank you for your thoughts. For what it’s worth, I’m really not worried about whether there’s a competitive scene for it or not. After all, there’s no competitive scene for Ace Attorney! The only thing that truly matters regarding a character is whether they bring an interesting move-list and visual design to the game. You need good visual designs to attract players (“Cool, what game is that?”) so they get into it, then interesting combat designs so they stick around long-term.
The walkthrough videos I saw seemed mostly limited to the projectile, uppercut, the cannon, and some divekicks. It’s possible the player didn’t have her full move-list unlocked, however. Watching SvC Chaos showed me some of the ghosts you mention. As far as “throw and OTG goes”… to be fair, that can be said of a lot of characters already on the roster, can’t it? It is, mind you, an awesome-looking throw.
Ah, okay. I see where you’re coming from. If you’re talking about the English gameplay video, yeah, he started from Lv.1. The Japanese one somewhere in the related videos is more exciting to watch. But I see what you mean.
It’s also important to remember that a character doesn’t have to act exactly like his or her previous incarnations and can be expanded upon to become more dynamic. For example, Morrigan’s Flight or Ryu’s Denjin Mode. Though, like the throw, this could be applied to anyone with past fighter appearances, and is a general statement.
Oh? There’s a better video? Can you link us to it? I’d like to see it. Edit: While that may sound like a stupid question, sadly ‘related videos’ is not enough. There are four videos in question… it could be any of these from their related video lists, hence my hoping you can narrow it down.
Just wanted to say that I haven’t forgotten about this. I just haven’t had access to a legitimate computer in about 30 hours and will post a link when I can because you can’t really do that on an iPhone.
Red Rick, Venom/Eddie Brock not being good business sense because he no longer exists in any continuity is moot. If he got the most votes from fans, he is a good business decision. People may be convinced to buy the game if he were to be included. I get your point though, but to that I scratch my chin. If there’s such a huge demand for Brock Venom, why didn’t Marvel or Capcom have the mental capacity to just put in Anti-Venom? That would clearly be the smartest move to keep everyone happy.
Finally got a chance to post this:

Lv. 32 Tessa stuff. A little more exciting than the other video. I can see where you’re coming from, but I find her a little more fun to watch than, say, Ryu in other games. Though that could be in part due to the flashiness of her moves. Like I said, it’s hard to tell when you’re just fighting a computer since there isn’t as much strategy as fighting a human.
One thing’s for sure. If she does make it in, then her normal cannons need to shoot real cannonballs. Q-Bee Pixies just don’t cut it.
Cause capcom doesn’t know Marvel. LOL.That is why there is no Anti Venom.
Not if Marvel has a completely different priority beyond specifically moving DLC units of any given character. Which I strongly suspect is the case, given pretty much every Marvel addition to the UMvC3 roster is someone Marvel wants to push due to upcoming/current products starring them. It is entirely possible Marvel does not care about moving even 200,000 units of Brock Venom DLC.
I’m convinced at this point they do not care about direct sales. Capcom probably is, mind you. Marvel however is treating this game as a chance to build their brand. All our pleasant memories of this or that character/product from the 90s mean nothing to Marvel because those are not translating to current interest. Let’s say we got Brock Venom. We buy 500,000 units, even! Then what? We’re no more enlightened on product lines and stories that Marvel is developing and currently using. In other words, Brock Venom does nothing to bring us back into the fold and spending money on Marvel’s stuff. We get our pleasant 90s nostalgia, then we go away. Marvel gets some money on the side from the DLC units being moved, but that’s short-term sales when they want long-term growth.
Marvel pretty much completely ignored the last poll for this reason. They have their eyes on a far bigger prize than X/Y/Z # of DLC units moved. They want to make current Marvel fans out of us. At this point I’m convinced that we can either come along for the ride and try to steer their choices along relative to their own goals (e.g. “Fine, we’ll go with this series, but we want that character from it!”) or be left behind. After all, if 200,000 (a random number, mind you!) of us buy one product… eh, okay. If 200,000 of us buy multiple products, or even 100,000 of us do so, they come much better, and that’s what I think Marvel is going for.
I have nothing against Brock Venom himself. This is solely me being astounded at what I perceive as willfully throwing away one’s influence in a poll to reiterate a point/request Marvel is clearly ignoring and has good reason to do so.
Noble Cactus: Alright, let’s see what you’ve got here… that’s not bad. I see the player in the previous video had a notably lower level Tessa and wasn’t as skilled to boot. This is a much more meaningful showing for her. After watching this, I think you’re right. I wouldn’t be disappointed if Tessa were to show up as DLC.
she’s not a 90’s character?! she’s the sole female character in uncanny x-force
Psylocke is like a collection of bad '90s cliches. Hot Busty ninja with magic (psychic) blades and a pretty tormented backstory. Oh and skinsuits, lots of skinsuits.
Naturally people are gonna like her
She was a terrible addition to Uncanny X-Force, Fantomex and Deadpool pretty much carry that series.
I have a feeling that there was a lot of ‘follow the cool crowd’ going on there, but props to Diek for pulling it off so well.
After a bit of thought, here’s who I figured would be a good cast for the next re-release, if it happens:
[]Megaman and Cable- Both wear blue, use energy weapons, from the future, and are returning from Mahvel 2.
[]Gene and Doctor Octopus- They’re basically free money for Capcom and Marvel. No-brainers.
[](Demitri, Pyron, or Urien) and Gambit- Are X-Men/Street Fighter/Darkstalkers already over represented? Possibly. However, each of them would make a meaningful contribution in both playstyle and personality to the cast. Isn’t that what matters?
[]Nina and Thanos- We’ve already covered Nina, so I’ll elaborate on Thanos. Between the Avengers movie, Avengers cartoon, and his history with most of the cast, I’m surprised that he isn’t very heavily requested on here. Does anyone know why?

T. Rex and Squirrel Girl- A man can dream, can’t he?
So, are there any questions or "OBJECTION!"s?
I have just one question. Why does anyone give a damn about Doctor Octopus? His continual high placing confuses me.
Megaman is free money.
Gene is fanservice. He wouldn’t sell much I doubt, as much as I or everyone else on the internet want him in.
