UMvC3 DLC Poll Results Discussion [aka Wishlist Thread]

Chamber could’ve been a decent addition.

Wraith is ftw though.

Capcom was willing to force their way for specific characters in a few cases though, generally ‘classic mvc types’

yeah but everyone was saying stuff when they first announced hawkeye and ghost rider and it turned out cause they were gonna be in movies

If I had known about Wraith earlier, I would have voted for him. He’s a total badass.

I cannot lie I am very happy Marvel has conducted themselves in this manner. If not we would just be playing MVC2.5 seeing as the only characters I see people raving about are the old nostalgia inducing ones. I prefer this diverse cast of characters we have never played before. Actually I am more excited about the new marvel additions than I was about Thor and thats saying a lot.

How does that mean i’m sinking to their level? You don’t see me or any other character specific supporter trolling around threads and derailing topics or streams? How many strider, phoenix wright, vergil fans did that? I can gradually say, more than 35 Megaman fans have continued to destroy discussions and hype experience countless times. And if you tried to talk some reason with them, with out resorting to flaming, you would get flagged (in gfaqs) or flamed like hell.

That’s not being immature, it’s talking the truth. It’s good for those assholes to not get what they want, because they shit on every other character that isn’t X.

Capcom’s probably not helping that. Most of their reasons for not having X in are pretty sad. “You wouldn’t accept a 3D model of him” - Yes I would. “He wouldn’t play much differently from Arthur.” - I can make meaningfully different move-lists for any form of Mega Man they like. You have dozens of games to draw material from. I can easily understand X fans seeing those for the lame excuses they are and being angered by it. This in no way excuses the stream-trolling, thread-derailing, and so on they’ve been doing; I fully understand your frustration with them and desire for them to not get what they want because they’re being very petty. Nonetheless, I can also see why Capcom’s answers are just making them angrier; the replies given so far are pretty weak.

Sadly… I suspect the key to solving all this is in Capcom’s hands. We’ll either have to wait for this storm to die down (and it eventually will), or for Capcom to publicly agree to make X. We, the general public, cannot shout down the militantly pro-X crowd. We don’t have the power to enforce “This thread isn’t about X, get out!”, or “This stream isn’t even run by Capcom, you’re wasting your time and ruining our fun, now GET OUT!” Thus they will continue to run wild. Only Capcom can bring a swift end to all this.

It pains me to see that. The X voters have a legitimate crusade; Capcom is being amazingly stupid about the whole matter. X fans should have all the popular support in the world for this cause! Yet a sizable portion of them (again, not all of them, Buster Cannon among many others are obvious proof of this) insist on disrupting and angering as many bystanders as possible, squandering that good-will. It’s easy to see why some people are now of the opinion that X shouldn’t get in, on the basis that it would encourage this kind of nonsense in the future. It’s a viewpoint I hold some sympathy for, but ultimately cannot support since that’s punishing others for the actions of people they have no control over. It’s kind of a no-win situation (don’t give them X and a legitimate request has been completely overlooked, give X to them and petty agitators will be encouraged to continue these tactics in the future), but I have to favor the outcome that makes the most people happy and hope X gets in.

The only long-term solutions I see that don’t require Capcom involve getting through to the worst of the pro-X voters… making them see that they’re hurting their cause, breeding resentment, and harming how people see both X and the Mega Man brand. They have to understand what they’re doing and change, or else sufficiently heavy-handed moderator crackdown has to begin; first-offense banning for ‘X support trolling’, etc. I would much prefer the former outcome.

Or?! capcom could just completely troll them all and just put in one of the other versions megaman and say “this is what the people wanted” Just saying, I think that’d be a funnier outcome but it wouldn’t be fair to supporters like buster cannon. So yeah I agree with you on that. They have a big ass army behind them

That… would be pretty hilarious. It would also be corporate suicide, sadly. Capcom does troll us fairly often, they have admitted as much. They use it during development (and ‘during development’ is the key word) to rile us up, get us into a frenzy, get us talking about their games. Yet once it’s time to show their cards, they generally give us smart choices (or at least choices where I can understand where they were coming from, even if I disagree) that they think will make the most people happy. This is what they should be doing, to maximize sales. It’s hard to get after them too much for that, since they are legally obligated to pursue profit as best they can.

It is unfortunate that good business sense and “what would be funny” are often two very different things. Perhaps some day we will live in a world governed by ‘Trollocracy’, wherein the person or company doing the funniest thing that infuriates the most people gets the most money, but until that day arrives I don’t see the whole “You want X? Well, you can have Volnutt… good enough? Trollface” stunt happening. Even if it would be really, really funny.

The funny thing is that I kind of agree with both sides. On one hand, I’m a Megaman fan who wouldn’t mind seeing X included. On the other hand, I’m really annoyed at the way the fanbase is acting right now, and would be curious if X’s exclusion would cause some people to self-destruct or something. Seriously, have you seen Capcom’s Facebook page? Bleh.

Funny thing is it wouldn’t bother me at all. Like I said, I’m an all-around Megaman fan who wouldn’t mind getting any one of them, and I wouldn’t be too salty if he wasn’t included at all. Though, I would be slightly upset if it was Volnutt and he lost his TVC air-dash. Seriously, I’d feel naked playing him without his IAD j.buster approach (now how am I supposed to get in on people?). But yeah, the only reason I think it’s going to be X is because it came from the horse’s mouth. Niitsuma did mention that X would be the choice for a MM, due to fan demand (translated: money). And then there’s that (questionable) leak mentioning that X was the only MM that was considered.

Really, this just strikes me as Capcom underestimating the fans, as the initial plan was “Hey, let’s add Zero and give him this X costume. They won’t mind!” Of course, we all see how that turned out. I still say that Zero potentially may lose his X costume, which could be a tell-tale sign. I guess we’ll see with the reveals in the coming weeks.

The cool thing about Marvel’s inclusion of characters is that it forces people to get out of their “comfort zone” and learn about new people. I like Venom too, but this isn’t the 90’s anymore, and he’s not relevant like he used to be. That’s kinda what I found charming about TvC. Half the cast is made up of people you’ve never seen a day in your life, and you eventually find them growing on you. I may not have known about Rocket Raccoon prior to this, but I’m actually pretty interested in him now.

I voted for Vile, who nobody else seems to care about :frowning:

Still, I would like to see X in the game anyway.

Maybe they just didn’t like the designs of starforce, EXE, and Volnutt. Nothing wrong with that.

But the very same people bleating about Volnutt’s series getting cancelled when they did nothing but shit on Volnutt is pure hypocrisy. Apparently not even Megaman fans like Megaman. As far as I can see he’s an excuse to bleat and whine about ‘Crapcom’.

Before MVC3 I barely knew a damn thing about him, but I didn’t really mind him. Now because of his ‘fans’ I can’t stand the little fucker.

They didn’t have to like the character to like the game. And If you hate a character because of some bad apples then thats your problem. It’s like saying I hate chocolate ice cream because some people who eat it are assholes. That may not be the greatest analogy, but you see what I mean.

If everyone incessantly whined about chocolate ice cream and never stopped talking about it I’d be pretty fucking fed up with hearing about chocolate ice cream.

And yes, liking Megaman is in no way intrinsic to liking a Megaman game. Perfect sense.

No, no no that’s not what I mean at all. A fan of Megaman Legends may not have liked that certain incarnation of Megaman, but they may have loved the game itself. The story, characters, setting, all of that, but I digress. We could carry this discussion on in a PM if you want, I don’t want to derail the thread anymore than I already have.

This is a UMVC3 poll results thread. Megaman couldn’t be more on topic if we tried.

‘Man I love this Megaman game, it’s just this Megaman guy I hate.’

Pretty sure he’s somewhat central to the plot, characters and setting. I wonder what it’d be like to play Strider without Strider? Hey, it worked for Garfield.

I like megaman just as much as the next guy, and i don’t mind people like buster cannon who are sensible and think before they talk. I can’t stand the “Give us megaman X” army though. But this is just gonna keep happening no matter what. But yeah i completely agree with you

At the risk of being shot, I do think it’d be cool if we got Ken. Granted, I fully understand why people don’t want to see him, but he’s always been my favorite SF char, and I think a lot could be done to distinguish him from Ryu. Heck, at this point Ryu’s less of himself and more Goku. Besides, I’ve always wanted to put Ken and Zero on a team together (Zero =/= Alpha Ken aesthetically).

I did mention him a little while back. He’s probably one of the better non-Megaman candidates for a game like this. He kind of strikes me as being a Hawkeye-like character (pretty much straight zoning) with hover capabilities. The ride armor gimmick could be added to make him stand out a lot more, though. Maybe as a super or something.

Where is my damn Gun? Just kidding. Man the only problem I have ever had with Kens inclusion is the same problem I would have with cyclops inclusion. Who wants another shoto character when we already have more than enough? I feel like if they should have added Oni instead of akuma just because of the type of game this is but thats a completely different discussion. My main gripe is I dont want another hadoken shoryuken tatsu guy when I could possibly have a Flipping vibranium claw guy or a chick with wings (Nina) or a Six armed God… I am loving the new stuff.
