UMvC3 DLC Poll Results Discussion [aka Wishlist Thread]

Because the correct response to immaturity is more immaturity.

Do you really believe sinking to their level makes you better than them?

Cisco i completely understand what you mean, but there is nothing you can do. People are entitled to their opinion. Megaman X isn’t a bad idea but neither are other characters. You can’t say a character is dumb because they have followers that piss you off. What about people that wanted strider when MVC3 vanilla came out. People were angry and voiced their opinion. So the megaman X people are just following their example. I’m just saying that we’re a community that like fighting games so why can’t we understand that some people just want certain things and when that doesn’t happen we shouldn’t make fun of those people or curse them out. May sound cheesy but, can’t we just get along?

Megaman is a bad idea though, using Zero instead was exactly the right decision.

They cover the series, and have a look/features that won’t make people that aren’t MMX fans go ‘eww’.

People need to see beyond their own fandoms and realize enough is enough. On the flip, the only thing to resent the megaman fans for is the huge amount of QA time they eat up asking the same question over and over.

For what it’s worth, I’m entirely willing to resent them for precisely that. Also for barging into completely unrelated threads, tournament streams, and so on and pushing their demands there. I’m as angry as they are that Legends 3 was canceled; it was one of the reasons I bought a 3DS, and now I’m left going “…Damn. Now what?” However, I keep this anger limited to appropriate venues; threads marked for Mega Man discussion and so on. Likewise, I keep my Breath of Fire love, Nina advocacy, etc. limited to threads where such things are on-topic. It’s very easy to become resentful toward a crowd that stomps into every venue with their message. The old saying goes that forgiving them is divine, but putting that into practice when they’re actively distracting development resources from something you love is hard. Rather than directly forgiving them, I have simply put my energy into projects not related to their interests and hoping they’ll leave me be.

I admit I am curious to see how this turns out, though. Let’s say Capcom gives them X. Will they be satisfied at that point? Will they calm down and allow discussion of other matters to resume? Will they buy the character they campaigned so hard for? I will be darkly amused, then very annoyed, if that doesn’t happen. All of this X clamor had better turn into huge sales for Capcom if they make him DLC, or they’re not going to put much stock in public outcry from here on. Personally, I hope they do get their boatload of easy money and we can move on to other DLC character matters. If X winds up being the first step in a series of longterm DLC support for this game, I would actually be very happy with that outcome.

Still, it does not surprise me that some people are openly resentful toward X because some (clearly not all, but enough to stand out) of his fans have been disrespectful, pushy, demanding, and disrupting those who have nothing to do with the situation. At some point, “I wish they’d leave me alone” can easily boil over to “I wish flaming space rocks would fall from the sky and crush every one of them; that’d teach 'em a lesson!” I suspect they would face less opposition if they acted more like their hero; reasonable, peaceable, and wanting to talk through a problem rather than lashing out with anger.

THANK GOD someone said this. Just because the game itself said Psyblade was an “Anti-Air” did not mean that the assist was actually an AA. It was a total misnomer. Keepaway teams didn’t use Psylocke’s “anti-air” as a keepaway tool; they used true anti-airs like Corridor and Gene Splice.

yeah i see what you guys mean. I don’t like that either. But when people are controlled like the people that wanted strider that’s understandable.

I actually think when the game was originally released (MVC3 that is) Asura’s Wrath was probably not far along enough for its development team to have a good grasp on his complete moveset and abilities. At this point however I am sure they do and CC2 seems to really want it to happen which is the only reason I think he has a legit chance. I would hope they went the Oni Route with him and let him have battle damage effects.

As a guy who’s been involved with the Megaman fandom for years, I can honestly and unfortunately give a solid NO to that. The Megaman fanbase is one of the most horribly divided things I’ve ever seen in my life. If X gets in as DLC, people will continue to whine about MML3. Granted, I was disappointed at the cancellation, but I’m far more annoyed at the general Megman-fan attitude than I’d ever be at Capcom. That said, if MML3 were released then there would be X9 nagging. That’s the unfortunate result of a franchise that has so many different variations. People will cling to particular ones and hate the ones they don’t like. Personally I’m an all-around MM fan who likes them all and doesn’t care which one makes it in, and it certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world if he didn’t get in at all (though I’d be surprised).

Still, I agree that the timing was very off for Megaman fans, though you can’t blame that on Capcom. A long-awaited sequel to a game gets cancelled and the very next day you find out that Megaman still isn’t in UMvC3? Yeah, that’d get some people salty. Doesn’t excuse the way people have been acting, though. Life’s not about what happens to you, but how you react to it.

I agree. I mean, I’d be terribly annoyed if they finally included X and then the fanbase starts whining about Capcom being greedy. People don’t realize that Capcom is indeed a business and they need to make money just like the rest of us. X as DLC is an extremely shrewd business decision, and it’s un-doubtable that they’d make serious cash off of it. I mean, Megaman X is a pretty recognizable character, and he’s the sort of guy I could picture people buying on reaction.

I’m interested to see who Marvel would cough up for DLC, though. I know they want to keep it relevant to current comics and other media they want to promote, which is really smart. With the new Spiderman movie in the works, I wonder if the Lizard would be viable as a character.

I’m probably in the minority here, as I have a huge amount of MvC1 experience but my MvC2 knowledge is pretty barren. You can chalk that up to my mall’s arcade having both MvC1&2 back in the day, and the former was $.25 as opposed to the latter’s $.50. Guess which got played more. :sunglasses: That and I still play some MvC1 on GGPO, so yeah.

Mega Man fans needs to die in a fire, even when they arent whining theyre making explanations for those that are. If he makes it in I hope hes free to zero.

I’m confused. Can you elaborate on what you mean by ‘people are controlled’? I’ve been thinking on this for about an hour and still can’t quite grasp your point, I’m afraid.

Lol, Megaman fans…

As someone who has total disinterest in the series I think I probably like Megaman more than the Megaman ‘fans’ and I’ve played one Megaman game in my life (no idea which one it was). Whenever a Megaman rep that wasn’t X was brought up it was met with immediate vitriol.

‘Megaman EX? FUCK NO!’
‘Megaman Starforce? Eeew! Puh-lease’
‘Megaman Volnutt? God, anyone but him!’

And yet, despite seemingly hating every single one of these incarnations they all whined like the ingrates they are when MML3 was cancelled. I only knew what MML3 even was, because of all the Megaman ‘fans’ hating on Volnutt (the one from TVC right?). I would actually LOVE to see Megaman get ousted again when it comes to DLC just to spite these pricks.

The thing I dont get is people who say Megaman and CapCom “deserve” to be in MvC3 but characters who are relevant in Marvel AND won in polls have no chance in hell. What kind of logic is that?

I’m surprised at the lack of Thanos love. Think of what could be done with him if they did a total revamp… though that would me no more bubble party :frowning:

Megaman starforce is hella cute.

I think the reason I didnt want him was because he’s always looked so lame.

MM Starforce for DLC. They heard my obscure prayers for Vergil and Strange, I’m sure Capcom Inc are reading this as I type.

A lot of them are substantially different than their current marvel incarnation though, that’s been a sticking point all along. Cyclops is the one I still don’t, and never will understand. Not even a big fan of him, but c’mon…

Havok for DLC >>> Cyke

Especially if they try to make his beam not-pink

I have a deep personal love for Havok! Take him and replace mags with Polaris, instant joy!

i hope Megaman doesn’t get in because Zero is wayyyyyy better. and because of the guy to the left of me

lol i mean that if people just state themselves appropriately like i saw many strider supporters do, then i’d give them a chance. Not when they are running around like a chicken with no head screaming “give us megaman X” in every forum

and sadly marvel just puts in whoever they feel like and capcom has to agree. Ah the beauty of product placement
