Oh no doubt. I definitely wanted to make sure I got across that I was referencing the entire community as a whole. There are a ton of guys here on SRK alone that come up with a lot of good stuff that goes unnoticed - but when looking at the total number of posters on this site, it’s an extremely small percentage.

As far as Iron man goes, it’s too early to tell if he’s good or garbage. Personally, I’m not sure whether the design change on IM was necessary or not, but I at least understand the reasoning for changing IM. Instead of trying to compete with other successful tri-dashers like Mag and Storm, IM is gonna play his own way. Hopefully his ground zoning, air-to-air punishing, and overall damage is decent enough.

Smartbombs need to go different distances

You can relaunch with an assist. That depends on whether you play Haggar with an assist but if you do it will be easy to OTG with him, probably so for Chun Li too. The worst OTG at the moment looks to be Spiderman’s, which seems to be really tricky and difficult to pull off,

To add two cents, I think when I get home I am going to play all the characters, learn them and see what I like, cause I really have not strayed from Chris/Hulk/Doom-Ironman since the game came out :stuck_out_tongue:

the reason why it wiffs in certain startup bnb’s is because unlike wolvie his normals push him far away on hit, and unlike mags his slide (c.M) doesnt have much range to move him BACK INTO range… mags slide has stupid range as does she-hulks… the entire reason why there launchers dont wiff.

It’s the ideal environment for their play yes. It’s obvious they takes SFIV more seriously than MVC3 because SFIV has a fucking cabinet they can go to after they get off work and play top people all the time. No worrying about lagged inputs or even needing a console. Several of the top players in Japan don’t even have consoles.

The “desire”? Anybody can have the desire to be good with a character. That has nothing to do with why the Japanese are really good when they are really good. I just always explain how they have a better environment for leveling up more advanced characters by being in a better environment to practice more technical characters that can be risky to throw in tournaments without regular practice. I can want to be the best Tron player in the world…obviously don’t have to be Japanese for that. LOL.

You’re the one calling Japanese players garbage at games not at an arcade, didn’t say that either. Dunno how you put that together.

Basically the jist is if the US was a small island where arcades regularly flourished we would be less sloppy with our play and have more top players with a better variety of characters and it wouldn’t have taken 5 months to realize that Zero is sitting on the tippiest top of the tier list with characters like Dante, Viper, Magneto, Wolvie etc. It’s just common sense. I don’t necessarily ideal the fact that they have squinty eyes and press buttons real good as much as the ideal environment they have for leveling up their play at an arcade. Don’t see any reason to argue that.

The Japanese have a superior work ethic to us Americans. There. I said it. One thing that annoys me in this place is that some players want to hide things. I remember while I was out there in sasebo while in the military, despite the language barrier guys that whipped my ass half way to next week would still share stuff.

I’m wondering a wall bounce assist will be needed to be able do something after Haggar’s otg. That or things with an obvious delay like perhaps Doom missiles or even Chris’ land mine, sentinel drones.

Right now not including the new characters it looks like the top tier is staying tops. The only exception right now I’m guessing Phoenix but I was totally off when I said Phoenix wouldn’t be a threat in vanilla so I think I’ll shut up on that one.

I’m only really seeing Cap and Chris doing significantly better than before. If Haggar’s otg gets something out of a assist for more damage them Team America Fuck Yeah will be a reality.

All I know is that even if there was another vs series scene in Japan, it wouldn’t be popular in Japan. I highly, highly doubt that the Japanese will put the effort that they put in Street Fighter. They haven’t done SO with nearly half of the vs games, and the vs series is not popular in japan at all. Even fucking TVC wasn’t popular in Japan, and MVC2 arcade scene was actually bigger in America.

Hell, Japan(IIRC) even banned The Giants in TVC…when they weren’t broken.

Yeah that might have some to do with it but…a lot of the market for SF is actually in the US also. Either way it’s not likely we’ll see an arcade release of UMVC3 because of the work and money it took to release the arcade version of AE which probably was overall a company loss any way.

The one year TvC was at SBO it had a decent showing at least. I would imagine a UMVC3 arcade would have been even more successful than TvC. Not in a business sense but at least in a tournament/community sense.

I mean work ethic as in how they apply themselves to their jobs and what they do.

The zoning better than Arthur thing is arguable cuz Arthur got some nice buffs to his zone. We’ll see.

Haggar doesn’t even really play like a grappler so it’s kinda expected I guess. Haggar is just bad on point period.

I didn’t expect Wesker to get nerfed much any way since most of the stuff that made him overboard was mainly just XF based stuff. Most of his other shit you can punish easily unless he calls an assist. Unless you’re really low on the tier list he’s very fightable. He’s not a walking spaceship like Zero where you just kinda guess when you’re supposed to hit him.

The mini XF he has should prove to be interesting but it only really increases his speed more so than his damage. It will probably be worth talking about if he’s low on live as anchor and then gets XF3 plus mini XF boost.
