Isn’t it “Gimmie a sit round”? Or… “Gimmie a sit clip”? I coulda swore it had to do something with ammo.
Anyways… Whatever he says is a hell of a lot better than “REBEL ONE!”

Naw, “gimme a sit rep” as in Give me a situation report.
Eh, alright. I still like his lines though; the corniness is what really sells if for me.
For anyone that is trying out chris during the pre-release version of umvc3 know if he can cancel his dashes into a jump(like doctor doom, hulk, and a few others), because I just found out on my own when using him in vanilla mvc3. And if he can, all the more reason to use the air gunfire over the grounded version instead, as well as the air throw. If no one believes me that he can jump cancel back in vanilla mvc3 should try it out. Because it actually works, he can cancel right at the beginning of the dash. I reccomend everyone to try it out in training mode. I also know a couple of extra tricks withChris, so if anyone is curious, let me know in this thread, and I will be happy to share them you guys.
I’m going to Comic-con tomorrow so I’m going to try out Chris myself and I’ll let you guys know anything that hasn’t been said already.
(It’s kinda weird how I’ve played Chris since Day 1 but have never posted on this sub-forum. Then again, sloth.)
Man, j.d+:h: into Magnum is going to give me such bad habits now. Hell, the Magnum (and almost everything else’s) speed in general is going to do. And right as I was trying to stop using the Magnum so damn much. Figures.
Anyway, I didn’t see this in the original post, but briefly talking with Chrisis into another thread makes it seem like Hard Combination Punch now scales “correctly” in terms of hit stun decay, so it’s probably impossible to combo his (horrible) Level 3 into it anymore. I’m not sure Hard Combination Punch is even going to have use anymore, since it seems like they’re expecting us to combo Level 3–if you can even combo it at all since they sure as hell didn’t seem to speed it up/make it more reliable–off of c.:h: into Magnum (haha, that’s going to be so dumb) or maybe even just Medium Combination Punch into its Magnum ender. They basically seem to be pushing the Magnum really hard.
Speaking of which, has anyone tested if All or Nothing still fails after the first two guns if two hard bounces and/or wall-bounces have already occurred?
Can you please try to test the prone position? Literally no one has used and, while I doubt it’s been changed at all, it would be nice to confirm that. If he can get into and/or out of it faster, it might have some niche uses now rather being a move you’d rarely use except just to fuck with someone, like a Sentinel player or something.
I am concerned about the heavy boulder punch as well. You could get some crazily damaging shenanigans going on with that thing.
Now, I wouldn’t write it off just yet, though. Combos that use it always score higher damage, and you still can ground chain into it. I’m going to spend a great deal of time in the lab figuring out how to work it in.
You guys do know that chris can combo j. magnum into ground magnum, right?
But it requires a more tighter execution than comboing it into H combo punch; and it also does slightly less damage too.
What I would like to know also is if Chris can otg off of air pistol, if air pistol can quickly cancel into j. shotgun on normal jumps (for zoning purposes), and if j. shotgun can lift an otg enemy off the ground to continue a combo.
Tried out Chris today. that faster Gun Fire assist is so much better.
Sorry I wasn’t able to find out anything due to the fact they made you use Aracade Sticks. I only know how to use the Controller Pad so I sucked terribly and spent the whole time trying to learn how to use the stick.
Best pointer I can offer is to just slow down your inputs.
the Arcade sticks they had in NYCC use Sanwa buttons, so you have to be careful as they activate easily.
Well for example, i’m used to doing LMHS in a circluar motion with my thumb. With an arcade stick its left to right and then you have to move your hand all the way over to the left again to hit S. My muscle memory keeps thinking that M is above S but when i play on stick L is above S.I’m also used to using the RT for L+M+H for specials instead of pushing 2 buttons. And finally doing QCF motions with the stick feels weird to me. Basically the entire time I was there I was just trying to get used to doing the basic magic series with Chris. I also picked Nemmy because he made it easy mode even if I was using a stick.
(Sigh. I really need to stop being lazy.)
Yeah. I can only imagine how odd it is/will be trying to play on a stick again after playing on pad, especially with mashing having come back. I can only imagine how trying to wave-dash on those things will be now that Chris (and Ryu) have proper ones.
Affirmative. However, as you said, it does less damage AND has tighter restrictions, so generally the only situation that I ever end up using it for is getting people the hell away me from me if I’m not near the corner or I don’t have three or more bars to kill someone. Otherwise, Combination Punch :h: was the go-to combo ender for me if I could get close enough, even with Chris’s gimped ground dash.
I highly doubt they gave j. d+:h: OTG properties and, even if they did, I can picture it actually being useful in that many cases.
Hunh. I hadn’t even thought that the speed up with affect his assist, but it makes sense. I wonder if this means he put out the landmine faster too, then; I doubt Combination Punch :h: got sped up.
This is what happens when you’re too fixated on what Denjin Mode Ryu('s assists) will be like.
I don’t remember them mentioning speeding up landmine assist. Will check if I have the opportunity.
Will also check air pistol for otg capability. Should be doable after a magic series ending with s if it can otg
Sounds like type B controls for arcade stick fits you best. Sadly they’re set to Type A so it is a bit annoying that way.
QCFs. Slow down. I’ve mashed qcbx2 and gotten dp.
For mashing / Magic series. Play it like a piano. You’ll get used to it real quick. For mashing you’re basically hitting LMH at the same time so it’s easier in that respect. Especially with Sanwa buttons.
Edit: jump pistol has range so not really able to see if it otgs a condition to test would be you being cornered and doing a magic series ending in S to mid screen and jump back pistol. I forgot about trying mine assist.
Im not sure what can be made of chris “proper” wave dash he got, it didn’t feel like he got around any faster when i used him
I been watchin Vids on the new Chris…do the Magnum to otg Magnum into another Magnum causes a hard knockdown still?
No. The wallbounce works like the groundbounce now. They’ll just recover.
Which really sucks because this nerfs Chris’ combo potential drastically. He is now only limited to 3 Magnum shots in a single combo when before he could do as much as 10. He could also use his Grenade Launcher in the middle of combos by doing a Standing Magnum Hard Knock down, planting a mine, and doing the super. Wallbounce assists were very usefull to him in Mvc3 but they won’t be in Umvc3. The only real way to combo into Grenade Launcher is to either use Dante’s Jam Assist or Spencer’s Slant Shot Assist. So basically if you want to use Chris you’re going to have to have specifc assists that let you combo into the Grenade Super or use him as a Battery character.
Maybe. But we’ll see. Right now a very effective way to combo into the 'nade super is using an assist to juggle whilst you toss a grenade and cancel into the super (for instance, I use lightning legs. But others work, too). Well, now you can cancel the otg guns into grenade toss, so the amount of time the assist would need to juggle is greatly reduced (so tatsu doesn’t work now, but it might in the future). It’s probable his assist choices will actually expand.
You could still combo into Grenade Launcher in a THC as long as your assist supers keep them up long enough. That’s usually what I do with my current team if I only built 2 meters.
