UMvC3 Captain America Changes Thread **Only new information**

Is it just me or did it also go through Nemesis’s assist? It’s hard to tell because it’s right at the tail end of the that assist.

I watched it again, yes it did. Looks like FULL invincibility has been given to CW. Good stuff.

well we don’t even know if heavies are jump cancellable…so given that we haven’t seen jump-cancellable heavies yet, we can freak out about the hitstun scaling on SS

i guess people just like freaking out before the games come out

like when dr strange was first shown people were like LOLMAGNETO2.0 when he clearly couldn’t airdash lol

anyway let’s just BREATH and relax here, cap is obviously getting buffs, if his damage is lowered he’s still WAY better than in vanilla just based on his overall changes we’ve seen (especially with this new video showing cartwheel and otg shield slash from like mid+screen LOL)

I wonder if he will be able to do his sig 10 hit combo from MVC2 now

i think captain america was a good character before as a starter but lacked enough options to be a threat at the end or in xfactor. his invincible cartwheel, otg shield slash, and double jump and going to make him feel like ultimate captain america. i can’t wait to cartwheel behind guys as the jump in.

I was thinking about SS OTG. Will cap be able to relaunch and keep punishing or “just” use a Hyper after OTG? (I don’t know, with the SS hitstun scaling…)

At 1:30 cap uses a Charging Star. It’s not a soft knockdown, right?

It is. Its been reported that all versions of Cap’s Charging Star now cause a soft knockdown. This will help him out a lot and may make his Charging Star assist a good combo extender for otg’s.

  • Half of the cartwheel animation is projectile invulnerable
  • Shield Slash L version OTGs
  • Hyper Charging Star is NOT shorted as rumored
  • Shields are faster maybe? You decide.

I don’t know if the shield slashs are faster, but i’d bet money they go further. The old M shield slash BARELY used to go 3/4, but when in the video it seems like it goes a bit further and fully goes the 3/4 screen. Same with the air shield slash, Cap used to have to be mid screen for it to go off the screen like that.

I’m taking requests from Gaffers, but is there anything about the Captain you guys wanted me to check? Making an exception because I love Cap Am. Tomorrow is the last day of the Dubai event and my last chance to test stuff.

Thank you so much for doing this, its good that we finally have a good cap player to test out the new changes! I have many things i would like you to try!

1.) Please try to do the shield slash loop on an opponent to see if it can still be done, the inputs are cr.L, cr. M, Cr. H, H shield slash, j.m, j. Up Heavy, H Shield slash, J. Up heavy, Heavy shield slash, then loop H shield slash

2.) In the corner please try a normal L,M,H, S, j.m,j.m,j. H, j. down H, S, OTG Shield slash, S, then do it again. If the S is too slow please try M, M, S. If it does work please try to otg them and do a Heavy Charging star to Hyper Charging star to finish it. I believe this is going to be our new corner bnb.

3.) Also on a big character please could you try to do the level 3 xfactor L charging star loop in the corner, if you need to see how this looks like here is a video http://youtu.be/QKiDYQD5H2w?t=58s

4.) Please try to see if the cartwheel is fully invincible not just projectile, you could test this by having someone do a slow move such as hulk’s H, or nemesys’s rush punch, or anything. Then try to avoid it using a cartwheel.

5.) after a normal L,M,H,S please try to do j.M, j.M, double jump cancel, j.M, j. Heavy, J. Down Heavy, S. I want to see how his double jump will work in combos.

Sorry this list is so long but i could go on for days on some of the things in want to test with cap lol. Please if you could try your best to do any of these it would be well appreciated!

what of his air normals are jump cancellable.
can he double jump after an air shield slash?
can he block now after an air shield slash?
is his cartwheel only top invincible(meaning can his head still be hit normally)

I’d like to know if he can OTG then relaunch. Maybe throw his shield from mid range to make 2 hits and then a S. Even after a combo with 2 shield slashes ( or if it doesn’t work because the hitstun problem)
More informations about cartwheel. Can he dodge an attack, like a punch, and counter in time from behind?

I’m in no way a good Captain America player (he’s not in any of my teams) but I like him as a character and I definitely want him to be viable in UMvC3.

I’ll try out the stuff you guys mentioned. I’m going to have to practice those combos Ken mentioned at home before I try them at the event. People forget that this thing is on the default Xbox controllers.

You guys might get better stuff from the Fightclub/Eurogamer event. I’m trying to catch the little things the pros are likely to miss.
