I don’t think Ryu got overbuffed, it’s just what he needed for top players to look again at him as a viable tournament character - he still has a horrendous matchup in Sim, and Fei should still have the upper hand.
Though I agree cr.MK and fireball damage alone are very strong buffs for Daigo’s playstyle. Wonder if he’ll have any use for the new cl.HK, I’m excited to have him play Ryu again.

highest dmg fireball. with noticeable different speeds.
c.mk almost same if not better than all series.
dp not that bad compared to vanilla dp however still not too shabby
and loses trade u1.
solar plexus damage arent so bad either.
compared to super i think he almost got all necessary tools back. and few better one to compensate.
fei nerfed. perhaps sims the only demon for ryu.

Shit, I woulda liked to see some Daigo Evil Ryu or Daigo…Oni?. But yeah UmeGouki is no more. I wonder if he will use him against sim though. Maybe Gouki or Yun.
Ryu’s sweep was only 100 stun in SF4. However don’t use Events hubs frame data for the stun values because they aren’t correct. (Lists Akuma’s sweep as 100 stun)
Probably use Cammy for the Sim match. She still wrecks him.
Yun will also still wreck Sim and Daigo can already use him REALLY well. Don’t think he’s gonna learn cammy (because last time I saw his cammy, it was shit) just for that one matchup. He’s been trying her out as a main lately, but I think he’ll stick to Ryu.
Eh, who knows. This version has been out a week. I found it really funny that on their frontpage eventhubs said something like “Daigo has been playing only Ryu in these matches, so it looks like a virtual certainty that he will be maining him in 2012.”
Uh… lol? He absolutely might play Ryu, but he basically laughed when some interviewer asked him if he’d be going back to Ryu before. Is it so hard to believe he could’ve just gotten sick of losing, didn’t want to play Yun, and figured he’d beast with Ryu for a day or two? If Daigo SAID he’s leaning strongly toward Ryu, that’s a completely different story, but I didn’t see anything like that in the post or the comments. He could try out Sagat or freaking dictator tomorrow and decide “this is the one!” Yeah you can always say that, but until I hear it from his mouth - and this has nothing or very little to do with the fact that it’s Akuma, my main - I am not going to take a few days in the arcade to mean the next 1-5 years of SF4 character choice have been decided for him.
For a sponsored pro who knows that character like the back of his hand, it’d make no sense at all to just play 2 days to check the changes - it’s something you need 5 minute in traning mode, and I’d expect someone his level to understand the importance of those.
Maybe he didn’t know about the changes, or simply thought a runway Akuma could still win in v2012 (something which hasn’t happened since vanilla, and probably will never). Still, I don’t see Dagio using him again aside from counterpicks - and even Sim can destroy Akuma if you’re not good in the matchup, he should just pick Yun.
Speaking of mains, both Tokido and Infiltration are spending a disturbing amount of time with Seth and Gouken respectively. Who am I going to copy off of now?!
