Ultra Street Fighter IV Mobile App for Android and iOS (Frame data included)

Just as a heads up so people don’t think I’m just spamming, I asked an admin member if it was okay to post this and he said it was.

As a fighting game fan, I have been making mobile apps for fighting games for about 4 years now. Here is the thread about my previous SF4 apps, which had been updated when I created the updated versions.

I decided to make a new one for Ultra and finished it this weekend.

The Android one is live now, and the iOS one was submitted Friday and it usually takes about a week to go through and be live on the store. I’ll update the post with the link once it’s available. Links below.

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AndrewStanton.USF4Guide
iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/guide-for-ultra-street-fighter/id889461182?ls=1&mt=8

Screen shots and description are available in the links. It’s a long description so I don’t want to just paste it here, but the general gist of it is that it includes a fast way to view the characters profile, special moves, unique attacks, supers, ultras, combos, a notes section per character, links to videos, and links to the character specific forums here.

And I’ll say it is much faster, easily accessible, and much smaller than the “other” one that is out there. It doesn’t have any official artwork obviously because it’s not my property, but there are some SF4 themed graphics that are created by myself and a buddy.

I’m asking 99 cents for it.

Also, if you get it and like it, I’d appreciate a decent review! Additionally if you find errors in it, please let me know. The way I went about creating this version is starting with the AE data I had, then going to the official changelist from capcom and making the changes to that data. So if I had errors in the original AE stuff, it could be here as well. It is just very hard for me to know if there are some things that are wrong because it’s a lot of data.

I actually updated the app this morning because I woke up to an email from someone who told me there were a few errors with Gen’s data, so I revisited all of it and found a couple other errors. So people notifying me like that really helps me clean up errors, so again, please let me know if you find errors!

As soon as the iOS version is live, the update with Gen’s changes will be submitted, as well as any other errors that I might fix before it goes live. And keep in mind the iOS updates also have to go through a review process so the updates also take about a week to go through.

Oh also, there are A LOT of different versions of Android out there, so if you have any layout issues with things, PLEASE PLEASE let me know the exact version of Android you are running, the device you are on, and the problem you are having so I can look into it.

I hope you all enjoy and get some use out of this!

Nice work

Bought all the previous versions, and bought this one. Thanks

No problem I hope you all are finding use from it.

I put out a couple updates yesterday that fixed some wrong/missing data, and it also fixed a layout bug that happened on higher-res android phones.

I also plan on adding in more data to the profile section in the very near future, such as frame data for dashes and jumps. I hope to start it tonight.

What source are you using for your frame data for the new cast?

Also, I’m sure you had to think about how to list this, and I don’t know a better way than what you did but… the decapre scramble frame data is a bit hard to digest. Being there are so many variations and equal ex variations, there is a ton of information. Seems like it doesn’t matter though, since there are only 4 non dive kick options and their data is all identical.

I want this for iPhone already…

Is the notes section broken down into matchups or is it one big note pad?

The source for the frame data was from a community page on reddit. As errors are found I will be updating it.

Also I do agree about some of the data can be formatted weird due to the length of the characters in it. What I would like to do is have a responsive design so at least during the frame data pages users can turn their phone 90 degrees and have more horizontal real estate per cell.

iPhone one will hopefully go into review tomorrow or Friday. In the past it has taken around a week or a bit more and I submitted it Friday.

The notes section is basically a notepad that is saved on an individual character basis. So you will have separate notes saved/stored for each character. Your notes in the Balrog section will not be the same as the notes in the Akuma section. It starts out as an empty note section though so the end user can fill it with whatever notes they would like to put in there.

I see. I’ll be scooping it when it hits appstore.

Cool I’ll update this thread with the link to it once it’s on the store.

Please be careful with the notes sections, and any changes in the future that might wipe them out. I haven’t used them yet, but if I do it would be nice to have some kind of hope that any future changes won’t cause them to be lost.

Yeah I believe the way it is handled is that it won’t erase any local data. I haven’t had anyone ever mention it erasing notes before so I am pretty sure it’s good.

I just submitted a an update that adds in dash frames, back dash frames, jump start frames, and jumping frames.

It just went live on iOS.

I’m updating the iOS version tonight as well with all of the updates I have put into the Android one, which again will probably take a week to go live.

Would have preferred if you updated the old SF4 app. I bought your original SF4 one and SFxT and you did not update them once the game was patched or when people started reporting errors. No chance I’m getting this app since you’ll just bail on it in a couple of weeks.

I do not recommend anyone to purchase this app.

SF4 app has been updated and is up to date from the errors I knew about. It was up to date with the AE:2012 changes as far as I know. It’s hard to make sure that literally thousands of data values are accurate or not though, so most of the time when I find errors it is because of people telling them to me. It is tough for me to find them myself just due to the sheer numbers of values there are.

I didn’t update the SF4:AE one because they are separate games.

SFxT you are correct I didn’t update that one. It was pretty much because I dropped off of that game in general and lost interest in it, but I have recently had quite a few people ask me to update it so I was going to get around to it, a bit late.

The Android version of this USF4 app has already been updated 6 times in a week due to people pointing out errors to me, 1 of them being a pretty big layout issue for higher-res phones, which was tough to debug since I don’t have one, and the emulator doesn’t even work for xxhdpi phones, but I figured it out and it’s now live.

Are you going to update the iOS version? I’ve noticed some missing frame data in Decapre and Evil Ryu for starters. Good job btw.

There is an update on the way already but it doesn’t include anything with their data. As I mentioned, if you find errors please let me know and I will fix them.

Sure, for one thing I noticed is Evil Ryu’s c.HK has a 6 frame startup, not 7. If there is more, I’ll let you know.

Am I missing something or is the frame data on the iOS app reversed for advantage on hit and block respectively?

After a quick look, you appear to be 100% correct my friend lol. The labels at the top are wrong.

I will fix this tonight and update it.

Thanks for that huge brain fart glaring error. It appears the Android one has the labels set correctly.

i really enjoy this app, helps greatly. Especially when I forget a character’s Ultra. Instead of having to go to EH I can just look it up there. Btw, for android users. You can basically get the app for free. Just download the Google Rewards app, do the first survey and it’ll give you 1$ enough to buy the app
