I’d have to ask what size meter was used and how many stocks?
Using 3rd strike try setting it up with 1Stock, Long Meter. That would give a more accurate representation to what multiple Ultra’s could look like. I don’t remember if the Gauge could be changed to reset between rounds or not, if it can put that on as well. this would be the closest analog to Multiple Ultras
I think it could be interesting for SF4, however I don’t think it should be the Standard
Now that I know KOFXIII Steam Edition is coming to steam, a much better game than shitty fighter 4…I could care less about SF4Ultra’s release or its nonsensical game mechanics.
2 Ultras aren’t a bad idea.
You know what is a bad idea?
The very notion of an ultra in of itself is a bad idea.
An ultra, by SF4 definition,
does 50% health meter damage which you attain by growing a ultra meter thats gained by getting hit and playing poorly, which was conceived by Capcom staff knuckleheads to try to artificially recreate an exciting comeback, but without skill or much execution.
That notion which, btw, was inspired by the Daigo vs Wong Evo SF3 finals.
But unlike the Daigo comeback, which was a thrilling comeback due only to the fact that his parrying of a Ultra(super) required actual high level skill and execution…SF4’s ultra=comeback potential, is artificial, forced, simpleminded, easy mode, and slows the game down instead of speeds up its pace.
Now that, my friends, is a bad idea.
People were making those same complaints before I even registered to post at this place. Whether or not one agrees with Ultras as a game mechanic aside, it’s been HALF A GODDAMN DECADE since SF4 first hit arcades. It’s a little late to be complaining about them as a concept.
At this point, that’s nothing that hasn’t been talked about/debated/complained about for over 5 years now.
As you yourself have pointed out. There are other alternatives when it comes to fighting games. Perhaps it would be best to simply focus on those instead of pointlessly posting in the forums if you have nothing constructive to say (especially when the other alternative is not being able to post at all).
You know that this game has now 39 characters, right?
Can you tell me then the differences between the ultras of Ryu, Hakan and M.Bison, please?
By the way, just wondering, let´s say I play Hakan with U2 or Gief, I eat on purpose a poke, which allows to get access for this ultra, isn´t it tactial a good move by me? Maybe I am wrong hereby.
Can someone tell me how to block user posts if there is such a function? Everytime I’m in a good mood I come to this board to see what’s new and I just leave 30 IQ points lower and disappointed in my fellow human beings.
It’s been 5 years and 3 levels of xfactor later, yet people still complain about comeback Ultras. I’m glad you at least used an argument that actually makes sense. Instead of saying it takes too much time to pick ultras for an appropriate matchup.
I mean you argued that ultras are so crucial in your Juri matchups (a character who is very ultra reliant btw), yet you hate ultras so you show your disdain by picking them immediately to avoid the entire metagame of ultra selection. But you think they are easy comeback mechanics that take no skill, BUT even though they take no skill they ruin your entire Guile matchup. Fight on brother.
Edit: Man and you’re moving to KoFXIII with the stupid arguments you make you’re gonna get blown up everyday; you won’t have fun at all finding yourself in HD infinites. And this isn’t a KoF criticism it’s a SocraticClown criticism. =|
Click on their name. That opens up their profile page. Then in the upper right you’ll see a button that says “Ignore” click that.
You’ll still see the person made a post but it wont show the post, just treats them like what happens with a post gets buried due to too many negative flags.
People will always complain. Oh well. Since combofiend is doing the balance we can have a sigh if relief that the next version of sf4 will be the best one
But for what its worth, I never saw combo as a true SF4 player. He knows fg’s, and that might be enough, but I have my doubts about him really knowing the ins and outs of sf4
Mmmmm. That is a difficult question to answer.
Since the object of the game is to win 2 rounds from your opponent…in reality the best way to win is to win by getting your opponent’s health meter 2 times out of 3 rounds, while avoiding getting hit as much as possible.
Therefore the best possible tactic is the one that leads you to two straight perfect rounds over the opponent.
But if you don’t have a life lead and feel the need to use an ultra, getting intentionally hit by a poke to gain access to ultra may be a good idea, but a better idea is to get intentionally hit by a poke while focus attack dash canceling so you gain ultra meter while not permanently losing health from your health meter. Wouldn’t that be a better idea?
Thanks for bringing that up.
I personally hate the HD meter KOFXIII employs. I think its gimmicky bs nonsense inspired by SF4’s ultra and yun/yang’s super combos.
So I hate the hyperdrive meter and how it ruins KOFXIII.
I mean, Shen Woo with full super meter and HD meter can now commit a K.O. with just 4 hits!
bs man. total bs.
I think KOFXIII>SSF4AE
but that doesn’t mean I think KOFXIII is one of the best KOF games.
Its not.
