With VSYNC off PC does have even less input lag than Xbox 360. But also ugly screen tearing.
With VSYNC on (and max prerendered frames set to 1 - see related pc thread) it should be the same as the Arcade version, meaning 1f slower than Xbox and 1f faster than PS3.

Lastly, we have another problem in the fact that playing with v sync off makes the game actually respond faster than arcade and 360 while also possibly screwing up strict frame timings because of visual screen tearing and other issues because the game was not meant to be played with v sync off. Technically when u play online on PC the ideal setting would be everyone to have v sync on (without the bug) to play at the intended speed and input delay. The problem is that a huge amount of people play online with v sync off so they have a huge unfair advantage of reaction times faster than intended (even though it can mess their combos up). You can tell when this is happening if you encounter someone that consistently beats you in air to air attacks just because they always attack first.
While technically this is the best version of ae, you will encounter a vast number of players online with v sync off that have an unfair reaction time advantage and the only way you can fight that is by turning v sync off yourself in which case your 1-2 frame combos become unreliable as your not playing the game as intended.
For these reasons I have to unfortunately go with the Xbox version being the best for random online play since no one has buggy v sync and everyone is playing with it on as intended./quote]
honestly at this point when switching from in game Vsync and Nvidia Vsync i can barely feel the difference, its there , its something between 1-3 frames, but i can totally play with in game Vsync now that am used the lag introduced by any of both Vsync
the option to turn it off shouldnt be their or at least not easily accessible since it cause so much trouble, if we couldnt turn it off am sure we would have adapted to the input lag with time, we only complain because we know how much more responsive it is when its off
The problem is that NVIDIA’s default setting for “max prerendered frames” is 3 causing there to be more input lag than PS3.
When set to “1” the game’s VSYNC works fine. As good as on console.
Did anyone actually sit down and test this, or is it one of those ‘someone sounded smart when they said it so must be true’ things? Most times anyone makes any claim about input lag without actually testing it we need to take those claims with a grain of salt until we can test them.
To be specific, I really doubt anyone has sat down with a real arcade setup, a high speed camera, and an LED wired to a button to actually test this. I can test 360 vs PC if anyone actually wants to know how they compare.
Well, I tested it only by playing and felt the different input lag with and without vsync.
Would be good to have actually measured results of course.
If you could do so please do three comparisons of PC vs Xbox:
With VSYNC off
With VSYNC on and max prerendered frames set to 1
VSYNC on and max prerendered frames = 3
You can set max prerendered frames in the NVIDIA settings for 3D gfx (Catalyst control center should have this option, too, if you have a Radeon card).
sure thing. it’ll be a while since at the moment we’re running some similar tests on Third Strike Arcade vs console vs emu. but I could def check out SF4 PC vs 360 after. I’ll post something once we do.
they are saying ultra is being rushed so that people have time to practice for evo Im wondering if that means like a week before evo or the beginning of june a month or so before evo
360/ps3 DLC updte is in June, physical versions and the PC update are in August. So I’m going to have to put up with the horrid low-res textures for 2 months. Ah well, at least last night showed me that I win more often on 360.
