Ultra Street Fighter 4 | General Lounge

Didn’t SSFIV already have a team battle mode? I think it could go up to 4 vs 4 and was elimination based (players could change characters for each match, but that’s beside the point, each player was still a part of 1 of 2 teams in member elimination fashion).

Scramble mode would be far more interesting for this.
(there’s already too many multiplayer modes involving taking turns. Scramble is refreshing and even more fun than SFA3’s dramatic battle. )

(though I think each player in Ultra SFIV Scramble should have their own health bar instead of shared, make the fights feel more complete., but I guess
they made it share health bar so 1 player isn’t left fighting 2 on their own, but hey it’s possible for 1 to defeat 2, as Dramatic Battle proved.)

$15 dollars isnt bad at all… Just put 15 dollars away for the time being and buy it when it comes… and if its too much then… just dont buy it? Everyone is happy…

It does and it’s fun as hell. If i understand correctly though, what he means is a KOF style 3v3 where you pick 3 characters, there are no rounds, super bar carries on between characters, etc. Pretty sure some alpha game had something along those lines.

Lol did you not watch the reveal or read any of the info? Early 2014 is the release date. They wont release in November, at best you are looking at January/Febuary. Remember, Capcom isn’t JUST releasing a digital version they are also releasing a full disc version and they wont cannibalize their sales of the disc version by releasing the digital version early. That on top of the time for testing and tweaking the balance changes + any truly new content (game modes, adding features like hitbox viewer/additional training mode options/ect.) all will combine to make this likely actually follow suit and be released early 2014. When was the last time Capcom released early not counting the on-disk DLC characters for SFxT that was DEMANDED to be early and even then was only a few weeks?

I do fight it, usually by taking long stays away from FG’s or the local scene…as you see in my sig currently playing anything but. But when you come back, there’s nothing but SFIV and Marvel to greet you. Basically no one has a choice, unless you want to be ‘that guy’ that I explained earlier.

Who said I was hard up? Relenting to give money to Capcom even more for subpar work, and being hardup for it are two different things. I know this is hard to believe on an SF site but… I work a good job. Video gaming is the less costly of my 2 hobbies. Games dont do shit to me, especially $15.

And ‘spoiled today gamer’? I’m 30. Paid any ‘dues’ that you can think up.

Money isnt the issue. I would pay a full $60 EACH for Alpha Anthology Online edition, XMEN VS Street Fighter, and true OG Super Turbo online for the consoles.

If SF5 has Guilty Gear Xrd style graphics, loses the silliness in the presentation thats present in SFIV, has tight controls like 2D, and loses the floaty flip trash, with OG grabbing…I’ll buy a Collectors edition for BOTH no probs.

Even this game…Ultra SFIV. If they had put in work, actual NEW work, and not copy/pasta’d from an even worse game than SFIV, it would be worth the money. Model 5 brand new guys(Even if from old games), compose new themes, make new stages I would have zero problems giving them $15 or more (if I like the character choices).

So u want 5 brand new characters created from scratch (either from old games not using sfiv engine or never before seen), new music composed, brand new stages created all for 15 bucks? Yeah that would be a steal, but no way would that be 15 bucks. Last time, we got Evil Ryu (adjusted Ryu model), Oni (fattened recolored Akuma model), and the twins (who share the same model with different faces.

I don’t know if these 5 new characters are worth it(never played SF xT).We shall see.

Like I said…$15 or MORE. If the changes are worth it. No more than $20 since its not a full game.

Also I’d pay $15 if they just did the following to Ryu:

Faster, farther reaching c.mk
Akuma’s c.hk, but cancelable into specials
Super Turbo Hadouken speed
Donkey Kick
2nd impact target combo, but cancelable s.HK.
fake fireball
air tatsu should have Alpha or Super Turbo arcs.
M. or L air tatsu should have Alpha spin (reliable front hit)
SRK should be more reliable AA, and lose the flip trade.

Give him an alt model, remodeled to the Alpha look, no ape look. I mean new model, not skin.

Subpar work to something you havent even played yet? Yea ok. Its an update, not a new game. If $15 dollars dont do shit for you, then you sure dont act like it.

Im 35, so you should know better cause gaming today is dirt cheap with free updates compared to the 90s.

I love how everyone is just says copy/paste like thats all thats needed for the new 5 characters to work in SF4, it doesnt. You cant just add those characters with SFxT mechanics so everyone can just drop the copy/paste bullshit. All 4 new characters need major reworking and the entire cast is getting balanced yet again. The new 5th character is on the same boat as everyone else. This is an expansion, what you are asking for is a new game. Thus the $15 price tag, you act like they are charging $60 which clearly they arent and for anyone thats going to try SF4 series for the first time $40 with all that it brings is a dam great entry price.

USF4 timing couldnt be more perfect. After 2 EVO of the 2012 edition, its time for USF4. If Capcom would of just made SF5 in the middle of a console life cycle transition without enough changes to the current version of SF it would be a major bust. I rather they do this to extend the life of this product thats still in high demand and keeping it fresh for the tournament scene. When all the next gen consoles are in full effect, then it can give Capcom the chance to push the boundries with new hardware but the userbase to support it.

Everyone acts like gaming Companies dont have overhead. These guys work for a living and have families to support.

In the end, you’re entitled to your opinion, so I’m not hating, but this is what I’m gathering from your posts:

“I do fight it, usually by taking long stays away from FG’s or the local scene…as you see in my sig currently playing anything but. But when you come back, there’s nothing but SFIV and Marvel to greet you. Basically no one has a choice, unless you want to be ‘that guy’ that I explained earlier.”

So you’re mad that there are only two really popular games right now, neither of which you like. You want capcom to make a game YOU like, so you can play that game with your friends.

“Even this game…Ultra SFIV. If they had put in work, actual NEW work, and not copy/pasta’d from an even worse game than SFIV, it would be worth the money. Model 5 brand new guys(Even if from old games), compose new themes, make new stages I would have zero problems giving them $15 or more (if I like the character choices).”

You know it’s not a simple copy-paste done by monkeys, right? It takes man hours by people who do this for a living. The balancing, tweaking of frame date, the programming…those are all jobs done by people. How do you expect these people to get paid if you’re getting things for free? Buying a game and expecting maintenance and upgrades for free is like buying a car and expecting car washes and oil changes for free. How is a business supposed to make money when they’ve got people demanding for a custom catered experience on the cheap? From the outside looking in, it’s easy to say “model this” and “make this character”, but did you see the costs for additional new characters? The Skullgirls kickstarter needed hundreds of thousands of dollars to add additional new content to their game, and those were for 2-d animations, versus the 2.5 d modeling needed for this game.

like I said, you’re entitled to your opinion, but when I see people complaining about $15 and what they feel it should be getting them, or folks making complaints about what they’d rather have, as opposed to not getting anything at all, it just reeks of spoiled gamer.

Dunno if this has been suggested but I seem to recall Gouken’s daughter being a potential candidate at one point in time. Just a thought/theory.
shrugs

On the topic of Gouken, fingers crossed for him to get legit buffs. He’s mediocre as it stands currently. No wonder his brother kicked his ass. -_-

Also, 3rd ultra for USF4!!! For the love of god make it so Capcom!!!

I’ll definitely purchase the retail copy of USF4 and 40 bucks without download time for all the DLC crap is well worth it but also because of my SSF4 disc has a hairline crack in the very center.
thankfully it hasn’t spread around, haha.

Might buy the disc as well for all the costumes and the nice box. Though i like the convenience of the digital version better.

so yeah, a further 5 bucks says the new character is defo haggar who will reuse alot of zangiefs animations for obvious reasons. Bunch of lazy shts, they did the same thing with Hakan and reused a bunch of gief, honda and blanka animations.

If anyone remembers the original hakan concept that was leaked before SSF4, he looked like a total badass and not the clown he is now.

Anyway, yeah defo haggar.

It’s subpar work because 90% is already done. SFxT was based on SFIV, its not like it takes much work to reverse engineer the characters to fit SFIV. Tweaking frame data? That can be done in a hotfix. Capcom had to do more work putting the Morrigan sprite in to fit with all the different engines it had been in.

As for the money, I’ve already told you what I’d gladly throw money on. You already seen what I spent on IV. Lets not get into SFxT for both, or Marvel AND Ultimate for both. I’ve thrown more money on these games than people who live for them.

I’ll give you the point. But I will also say it doesnt matter, today is today. At our age we should realize how we are getting boned. Thing is, if you want to be half decent, you HAVE to allow it.

I agree if you NEVER bought a SFIV game, or maybe just ONE… getting Ultra for $40 is a good deal.

Naivete at its best. Of course, nothing is free, but Capcom isn’t doing this out of the goodness of their heart. Capcom knows the FGC. They know that because of the need for the latest that whatever they put out WILL be bought regardless on the NEED alone. And since FG’s dont sell well, its a given that they will reuse assets as much as possible. It’s still a cost cutting measure no matter what you think. Even Marvel reused its Capcom characters from TVC.

It looks kinda weird , he isnt even touching the character. But this is more of a fix than a buff , it just helps people who couldnt already hit confirm off St.MP->Slide , giving them more time to react.
There is barely any additional damage due to scaling. (maybe a little more stun)

A hotfix? Dude thats how you deliver the patch. You still need to test it and make sure it doesnt cause more harm that good. Thats called hours of testing and last I check people get paid by the hour. You have zero insight to able to say that 90% of the work is already done. If that was the case it should be out by September. This wont be out till next year.

No we are not getting boned. Last I check AE2012 edition was completely free and it cost Capcom money to make it.

And $15 for an update is awesome as well. Its adds new character, a brand new original character, stages and a balance patch for the rest of the cast. All this will add hours of gameplay to this fighter.

They are doing it cause its a business, no shit just like everyone else running a company to keep bring quality products to any market. Of course they know they FGC, they work with us very closely and actually listen to us. People want more SF4, we havent gotten enough and thats exactly what Capcom is giving us. They have to think about the future of the franchise. They arent charging full price for this update. You havent even seen the 5th character or seen the patch notes for the re-balancing of the cast. Yet you act like this is a travesty. Sounds like you are jumping the gun.

Anyways, you dont like it. Then dont buy it, no one is forcing you.

Ok this may have been answeard already but, reading that USF4 will be available for Steam (from anouncement trailer and Original Post), does that mean that I won’t be able to upgrade my PC version of SSF4AE to Ultra? I don’t have Steam installed on my PC, I bought the retail version of AE for PC (GFWL of course) a long time ago. I would’ve expected that the Ultra upgrade would also be available in the Live Marketplace; if that is not the case then is a real bummer.

Woah woah woah
wait a second
I just watched a video from that “Project X Zone” game
and i saw that Batsu was on Ryu/Ken’s team
looks like Capcom still realizes how great Rival Schools is
I seriously hope with all of my hype-hope that Batsu is the 5th new Character for USF4

Dunno who Batsu is but that dude in the trio looks pretty badass, woodmain/10
