They get used plenty in KOFXIII. But the way it’s set now in USF4, you shouldn’t need to go back to character select and restart the match like people tend to do. If you set them via button press, then your buttons fucking work. Don’t waste time and get into the match.
Smart button config in Skullgirls is the best thing ever. It should be a bottomline standard inclusion in fighting games. Especially since a lot of sticks actually have button maps in different locations.
I’m not 100% sure but I think I remember Mike Z saying that this particular type of button mapping is copyrighted, so devs have to pony up cash before they can implement it. If that is true, I’m not saying that capcom doesn’t have the cheese for it, but a financial incentive is probably the most important when considering a feature. That means that I guess they would have had to pay for it, SF4, SSF4, SSF4AE, SSF4AE2012,USF4, some 5 times by now. Idk, if capcom new they were going to make multiple SF4s (which I’m sure they did) then they made the smartest decision financially I suppose. This would also lead me to believe that we are probably coming to the last update on the 4 series…
Or if they were smart, they would write up a contract that allows them indefinite use of the system for x amount of time before having to pay for it again. Allowing them to get about a single paid game, and a single free one before having to do another contract again.
I mean If Capcom is taking the actual usable things from SFxT, why not take the smart additions like the character select screen button config and while they are at it, also use the Hold start to initiate pause feature as well.
Well then he can fuck off as there is no “exact date”. Which brings me back to my original point. Google isnt that hard to use. If google doesnt have the answer you seek, said answer likely does not exist.
While hes at it he can knock off that tired ass joke.
VS mode should definitely have a “restart” option. This way people can do their button checks, give the thumbs up, then immediately restart and begin the match with no loading times.
They should also speed up stage select. Either get rid of that stupid screen transition animation, or give “always random stage select” in options somewhere, with an ability to customize which stages are available in the random. Just think about how much time has been lost over the years for that needless stage select animation.
If every tournament players weren’t dumb it would already speed this up.
It should work like this : match A is over > players for match B do rematch and button checks quickly with the new feature > go back to the chara select screen > fight.
Instead they do this : match A is over > players for match B go to chara select screen > loading everywhere > button check > combo check > go back to chara select screen > think if they should counter pick > read notes for hours > fight.
The restart option you’re talking about is useless if you don’t go back to the chara select screen twice for no reason in the first place. If you check your damn buttons with the characters from the previous fight everything is faster.
Players please… think a second. Everything is so slow because of you not because of the game.
Sincerely yours, an european spectator watching your freakin’ match at 4am !!!
Funnily enough, not even the new button mapping helps. When I saw at the location tests, how people set their buttons and went to the match only to realize something is wrong, so they go back to the pause menu again, staring at the screen for a minute…sometimes it feels like those players see an arcade stick for the first time in their lives.
How fucking hard can it be? Take a damn second or two to read what’s on the bloody screen, then just set it up. Loved how Combofiend was laughing/crying about it on the streams.
