If her landing a throw lets her heal up, it’s poorly balanced. Something like that NEEDS to be hard to do uninterrupted.
Think about it… A healing Ultra is an Ultra that’s potentially infinitely usable. You damage her, the Ultra meter fills up, she gets a moment to heal, you damage her and she does a couple of Focus absorbs, the Ultra meter fills up, she gets a moment to heal… A single hard knockdown shouldn’t be enough for that kinda advantage.
Obviously it will be made difficult to do uninterrupted. Maybe only if you stun your opponent. Otherwise you try to get a fraction of its potential on a knockdown or throw.
i have no idea what elena can do but if she can mash out lights into a hard knockdown or at least something that knocks down long enough, consider that in terms of net hp difference, healing is pretty much a 100% unscaled ultra you get regardless of how badly the combo beforehand is scaled. pretty damn good on paper, especially if her neutral is amazing
capcom will likely err on the side of making healing useless (or at least her throws, as previously mentioned)
It doesn’t have to be useless or OP, actually that would absolutely suck either way. They could make it so you heal a quick 10% of health, and slowly gain the rest by holding down buttons. You can cancel at any time. It could be slow enough that it is really hard to recover full amount unless you dizzy your opponent.
I really hate useless moves, especially specials/ultras/supers.
her only “safe” way to use the healing utlra will probably be something like “Scratch Wheel FADC Ultra”…
since scratch wheel is soposed to launch the opponent realy high into the air.
the other ways of using the ultra will most likley not be safe if you intend useing the ultra to its maximum healing capabilities.
i know that forward throw into healing was a legit setup for it in 3s, but who knows how much startup it will have and how fast it heals…you’ll probably be forced to take a gamble when to stop to heal…for example if you play an adon player with U1 or characters with similiar moves.
another setup in 3s was her Mk->c.HP TargetCombo if I remember correctly which tossed your opponent acros the screen.
but i’m faithfull that capcom will make the ultra not that easy to use…my guess is that in order to set it up good and you’ll need at least to FADC one of hear specials, which cancels out the recovery of the move before…cuz it’s also possible that her forward throw has a lot of recovery, so it’s useless to use healing afterwards, or it just gives you enough time to heal a little of its potential.
also if Elena is somewhat similiar to her 3s self…she has NO Dammage potential without meter. Sure she had great pokes, and a nice kara-throw…but nothing did really good dammage. her only good dammaging combo needet 2 EX Specials…
So if she still relies on EX Moves to doo good Dammage, and on the oder hand needs a FADC to set up Healing i don’t see whats so unfair…that was the biggest problam in 3s with the Super. Your only chnace to do good Dammage was when you read your opponent right and blocked a wake-up srk for example…and then you had the choice: do crappy DMG and safe the Meter for healing…or punish with a strong Combo but lose your option to heal.
Way to overstate things. Did you miss me mentioning focus absorbs there?
It doesn’t take a terrible amount of damage to reach the first stage of an Ultra. If reaching that first stage means she can heal any significant amount, then she needs to “combo” into it, so to speak.
Of course, I’d think that this would be one of the easiest things to catch in a loctest, because you can be danged sure Elenas are gonna try to see how often they can heal
