They didn’t change U1 at all. I’m pretty sure they gave Super JP1, because I saw numerous posts that Crane cr.LK -> Crane cr.LK -> Mantis Super was possible for example.
I’m a bit sad that they took away the 150*50 stun off mantis st.hp. It was the one buff that would be interesting with mantis u2, turning Gen into a stun machine (esp pre-nerf at 600 stun).
So … yea. This is Yun-level nerfing, except Gen wasn’t even top tier to begin with. I don’t understand.
The SRK change list now says “can no longer be used in air combos”, so I think my first assumption was correct.
Well, I hope not.
The reason I believe they’re talking about juggle potential is because Rose actually has a patch note “Soul Spiral can now be used in air combos”, but it already connects on airborne opponents, which made me assume that it now has a juggle potential. They also had Gen’s Mantis Super change note when Ultra came out: “Can now be used in air combos”, but it already connected on airborne opponents before, which led me to believe that they added JP in (and they did)
lol. we have a new Dan. good luck guys. the game will be out soon so we can cry better
Step 1: Promise to buff lesser characters so everyone is viable
Step 2: Show buffs and nerfs at test locations & changelists
Step 3: Remove all buffs
Step 4: Profit?
I also don’t understand all the nerfs to Deejay. Even in the final changelist video, ComboFiend says that Deejay will still be a hard character to win with – doesn’t that pretty much mean they didn’t do a good job of buffing him?
Well, it’s possible, for sure. I realized the “U1 has JP1”-thing was just one of the many mistranslations from EH…
As a Deejay and Gen main myself…yeah…that pretty much sums it up.
My hope for both characters getting better is gone and my world is literally destroyed.
Thank God I started to learn Yang this year, that’s all I have to look forward to now.
could today get any worse? what next. crane super 7 frame start up
So…
Umm…
Who’s excited for Edition Select?
ignore
Okay, so Combofiend made a correction. LP Roll indeed is +2 on hit.
I got @dawgtanian responding to Gen changes. make yourself heard. head over to twitter and make yourself heard
He responded to me a couple of weeks ago as well. When I asked why wasn’t an idea like EX Oga (invincible) even entertained in a build, the response was ‘he doesn’t need it with delayed wakeup. we want to make sure gen has to make a decision when on offense. does he want a hard knockdown or not’.
I just want to know what their frame of mind was, what their major concerns with the character and the new game mechanics and how to it eventuate to this and based on who’s expert suggestion.
Last time some this horrible, when Seth Killian was probed about Gen from Vanilla to Super. All we got was ‘There’s more to the game than the balance of one character’
I asked Dawgtanian to post here and clarify but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen.
So the only new stance change combo is replacing mantis jab with crane jab. Yeah. Not very useful or fun.
he will. have faith
He will probably have a hard time explaining since he’s not the one actually behind the changes Gen got.
What street said, they propably have a balance team so it’s not just dawgtanian or combofiend contrary to what community thinks. It’s just weird how they took so many nerf requests yet so little buffs requests.
I assume you mean Deejay. Because while Gen is A LOT worse his buttons/combos/mobility/utility are still far too good to drop below mid. He just dropped from high mid to mid or low mid. Hard to know why anyone would play him over Guy or Decapre though.
I think he might have more but certainly not much. He has some FADC stuff he can do with Rolls for instance that are better damage than hands. One thing that is really annoying though is that due to hitbox positions he can’t seem to combo into MP/HP Roll consistently from crMP.
Oh yeah he certainly does, but besides the cr. lp ones and the cr. mp xx roll xx ex red focus there’s nothing new, i’ve used roll fadc ones which are a tad more damaging than the hands fadc ones, it’s VERY small difference though.
