Forced stand with stepkick on hit would be to strong.

But i would like it if abel st.hp was buffed so i can hit a standing honda reliable, this would probably be too good as well since it would allow Abel to hit more crouching opponents with st.hp when they are crouching.

Calm down guys, Abel Step kick already hits crouching big character. Need training to perform a combo against a crouching little hit box?
If its not on counter hit, its not mathematically possible dont be funny with your training.
If you want cl.Hp hit crouching hitboxes, then you become so strong because you only have to drop Hp whenever you hit or not and you are safe.
I keep this idea: Step kick on hit forces stand because most of Abel bad matchups are against little hitboxes characters, tell me if i am wrong?

Sure, I can definitely see that it is good for abel but step kick cl.st.hp is already good now (besides against the wonky hitbox of honda, claw etc) and despite the cl.st.hp being a 1f link, you have plenty of time to hit confirm it since after the step kick lands abel’s going to dash and thats 16 frames so its not as hard compared to hit confirming cr.lk to cl.st.hp. Against crouchers that cl.st.hp whiffs, its not like you dont have any options, no combos, true but you have frame advantage which can lead to guessing game/frame traps into more damage, step kick no dash cancel is one of the option that can lead to counter hit step kick and so on. Once you show them that you have that no dash option, might as well say the step kick is now +5 or so since it adds hesitation on their part to mash low short/reversals etc.

Dont get me wrong, Id be happy if we get that(Abel probably will become top tier too), but I doubt it will happen, not without gettin nerfed somewhere else. Thats what I meant by saying its ridiculous, its just seems too good.

Your strategy is good, i have seen Pikagoma using Step kick without dashing, its pretty smart.

But think about it: Abel can perform his best combo against many crouching opponent: Sagat, zangief, Dudley, T-Hawk, Abel lol, Balrog, Gouken, Seth.

I don’t think this matchups really are for Abel…so we all know that Step kick is THE Abel weapon, make it effective against every characters in every situations.
I consider it like a bug as if Akuma DF can wiff against some specifics characters, if it was, it would have been fixed I guess, what do you think?

I think it’s good that they dont listen to srk, because srk puts Abel on place 6. Even with cls.HP hitting crouching opponents he would get still CRUSHED by toptier and all the other bad matchups, wouldnt change anything

It doesn’t work against Dudley I’m afraid.

I went to leave training mode, it works on Dudley, you can had Rufus, Makoto, Oni, Rose, Dalshim, Viper, Feï-long, Yun, Yang, Hakan and Guile too.
It doesn’t connect only with little hitboxes and in little hitboxes you have really bad matchups: Akuma, Cammy, Sakura (who wiffs like Honda), Jury, Chun-li, so IT CAN HELP a little bit.
But I have to admit that enlarge cl.st.HP should be OK.

Faster recovery on crouching roundhouse and increased damage on U1.

Abel’s U1 already does great damage and has great utility too. I feel that Sweep doesn’t need a change either, one point is that you shouldn’t be whiffing it in the first place. Another is that you shouldn’t even be throwing it out unless it’s to whiff punish a specific move, but even then, Step Kick can usually be used for that purpose.

Only time Sweep actually gets used is in Backdash Option Selects but even there it is outclassed by dash OS imo.

And Cptn, no offense intended but I find your idea for Step Kick to force stand absolutely preposterous. It shouldn’t force stand at all, in my opinion its main purpose is to get you in for a mixup and it serves that purpose tremendously.

Honestly you can just set up frame traps, get a CH Step Kick and go straight into Crouching Fierce for a good amount of damage plus Oki.

There was a lot more I was going to say but all of it seems to have slipped my mind unfortunately.

My first language is french.
Its good to have reflexion about changes with you and after all I have change my mind and think like most of you: if st.cl.Hp could hit little crouching hitboxe, it will be Ok.

Few things I would like to see:

  • Cr hp second hit to have its hitbox extended or modified in a way to resolve the funky issues vs balrog/elfurte etc where it drops even point blank on a grounded punish. A minor issue but an annoying one none the less.

  • First hit of St hp to hit crouching opponents second should whiff on all crouching characters.

  • One frame Cr jab to Cr mp combo (might of gone to far with this haha).

  • EX FS to be given more invulnerability to ensure it NEVER trades. They jumped in shit and we spent the bar and timed it right they should be floored and awaiting Abel pain ™. Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing it trade for zero damage.

Can I also just say the way they should change St Hp is thus:

First hit should hit ALL crouching characters regardless. Second hit should whiff allowing people to punish it for your failed confirm.

I would swear that Sakura has a VERY big hitbox and that it’s possible to hit her with cls.hp while she crouches! I dont have the possibility to test it right now. Works also on Gouken and Cody.

Sakura seems to have a strange hit boxe like Honda, try cl.st.hp into training mode: when you are really close it doesn’t hit, but a little bit far it does…
