Agreed, I don’t really care about anything except making the step kick bnb work on every character.
I’d love it if his cr.lk, cr.lp, cl.mp bnb was more consistent on the cast as well. Maybe extend the distance threshold to activate the close one?

i dunno… based from my experience with location tests (for super and AE 2012)… they dont really listen to the players suggestion, unless youre daigo or something… this whole submit your suggestion is bullshit to me for all i know they already decided on what to change…

hopefully capcom will consult each character’s “top player” for input but i really really doubt it, best bet is still for the likes of daigo, tokido, etc who might have an actual effect to the update…
do we know what kind of changes are possible at this stage? maybe just frame stuff that can lead to new fadc combos or just new combos…? or are we talking new moves? haha

Well, i’m hopeful because it seems like combofiend had a hand in the SFXT 2013 balance changes, and that was a very good patch. If it turns out anywhere near as good as that patch then it can’t be too bad.
I’m honestly just hoping they don’t do some pointless knee-jerk nerfs to Abel. They’ll buff everything and then suddenly “Step kick dash in is now -2 on block” or “Tornado Throw no longer invincible to grabs”. He’s already one of those characters i almost never see. I see more Gens now than I do Abel.

Capcom, if you’re reading, can you please TOTALLY remove abel’s Ultra 2? its useless, give him an ultra like Fei’s or Cammy’s ultra 2, god knows he needs it A LOT MORE than them for characters like Cammy and Rufus who can pretty much run a brain dead auto-piloting train on him. If you increase it’s start up you will just have people crying again like they did at super, just remove it. at this point, NO SERIOUS player uses it cos It’s either too random/strong, or utter useless
Wouldn’t say it’s useless. It has its uses, it’s just the fact that Ultra 1 is a better Ultra overall in my opinion.
Ultra 2 is an OS god for backdashes and jumps and it’s probably an ultra of choice for those that are really struggling with their one frame links/relatively new to the game although you’re on about serious players. It can also really mess up Yun and Yang with their divekicks!
Isn’t it also the Ultra of choice against Honda too? I’m not too sure, I’d have to check the Complete Abel guide again even though the new forum has butchered it.
I wouldn’t say Rufus runs a complete auto pilot train over Abel though, but it can be frustrating to be under the Dive Kick pressure at close range but I haven’t been against hardly any great Rufus players. Abel mauls the poor guy when he has no meter, you’ve just got to bait Messiah god knows how many times ha!
Cammy on the other hand is awful when she knocks you down but luckily it’s pretty much two BNB’s and a mixup to do her in. It’s just hell getting out when you’re knocked down. I tend to just try and make her really work to get in and get damage where I can. A lot of Cammy’s I face tend to have the same patterns. One EX TT can lead to you getting the round depending on your oki.

I understand you wanting it removed though and replaced with something more like a counter Ultra for the reasons you mentioned. You do realize that they could add a third Ultra so your prayers may be answered haha.
Ultra 2 is borderline broken against fuerte and it’s really good against honda and gief.
Ultra 2 is a really good ultra, it’s just that ultra1 is one of the best ultras in the entire game and by comparison so does ultra2 look bad.
If i could have my way so would i buff it by removing 2 of it’s startup frames, i play alot aginst a strong honda and this would allow abel to punish his ex headbut with it(among other things). This would probably be to good of a buff.
I wouldnt go and say U2 is useless.
I recalled Shiro said that he might prefer U2 for some matches like Fuerte, Honda, Claw, Gief(this can be either U1/U2) to name a few oh and Makoto too iirc… If you notice, most of those chars that has weird hitbox where you cant really rely on step kick s.hp to combo into ultra plus like Whitty said, its really better vs backdashes than U1.
Interesting, I will admit I have neglected U2 against a few of those characters. I’ll have to give it a try and see the results, I’m actually ashamed that I haven’t used U2 against some of those chars.
But yeah, U2 is a really good Ultra, I mean come on, it’s not like it’s Ryu’s U2 or Balrog’s U2 (I could probably name a couple more).

To resume guys, not to change so many things, it would be logic that Step kick on Hit make the opponent stand to connect with st.Hp.
There is no sense, because you have a small hitboxe, not to take Abel best combo just because you are hurt crouching and not standing.
Step kick on Hit must force stand!!!
And better AA to anti-air Sakura HK, blanka HK, ryu Hp…

What is ridiculous is to only have 70 points of damage if a Jury, for example, is hitten crouching and to make 500 with ultra if she is standing…

I don’t know if you know or heard, but Abel’s BnB combo does 365 damage and set-ups what’s called… a 50/50

One right guess after a bnb combo could lead to 500 and damn near stun or more if Abel has ultra.
Given that, I think we’d all be thankful for the great number of characters that this DOES work on crouch because in a perfect world, Abel’s bnb would be a standing punish ONLY!
the combo works on crouchers on counter hit just fine with mp ANYWAY and plus step kick leads into a mix up regardless of whatever the opponent is doing.
So no, I know you want things to be easy, I know you want to land fat damage, win rounds and feel good about yourself but that’s just not gonna happen. Abel is already pretty stupid and can be pretty scrubby as he IS and if you need a buff like that… then maybe YOU"RE the one who needs a buff
