Absolutely, and it lets us remain mobile, I prefer an AA that doesn’t require a charge.

Isn’t its hitbox practicaly horizontal and not very high?..the 2 aditional active frames should make easier to catch oponnents recovering from air to air wiffed normals and empty jumping in from of Vega…it won’t really be any better beating actual jump ins…by the way the 2 extra active frames should make the move even more punishable on block right?

they didn’t add 2 more frames, they just converted 2 recovery frames into active frames. should still have the same total of frames. cr.hp would only work on some characters, but as hazlan has pointed out numerous times, it’s not the best of anti airs and would still lose to whatever it loses to this day. it’ll just make our anti airs more consistent i.e. we’re not hitting air. people will just use a different jump in to counter vega. for example it might beat ryu’s jump hk 50% of the time, but will lose to jump hp.

I just want to break his leg when i see his j.hk to be honest. Slashing it is not enough. tries to supress his hatred for Ryu

To this day i’m not really sure what was the design function of Cr HP…its not an anti-air…its way to unsafe to use as a poke…you can’t fallow it up with anything after it…do the developers purposely give a couple of useless normals to every char?..cr Hp used to be a decent anti air in SFA 3…in SF X TEKKEN its somewhat usefull as part of combos since you can cancel into launcher…i mean cr Hp are unsafe in the case of much charachters but they generaly work as anti airs

I’ve found Cr.Fp to be useful against certain dive kicks, but other than that its useless. Far St.Mp is pretty damn useless as well.

far st. MP works pretty well against most dive-kicks.

It’s a decent counter for some short hop and high profile moves like Guile’s Upside Down kick, Chun-li’s Hazan Shuu, Cody’s Crack Kick, Shoto’s Hurricane Kick, Zangief’s Spinning Lariat, etc.

I see there are people who haven’t discovered the glory of the Cr.HP trade into combo.

I’ve seen Chris King doing that…cHP is pretty fast and has pretty good hitstun…what makes it such a terrible normal is its horruble recovery…but when you trade with a medium or light normal you actualy recover faster than the other char and that gives you a free cmp into what ever…it takes a lot of skill to pull it off…and yeah God pride its right CHP its good against mid air spacials like hurrican kick…chun li’s hasanshu etc…gotta eat my own words not useless

Actually, there are people that still do not know that crHP is pretty much as negative as LP Jet Upper on block. It easily whiffs on crouching etc.

There are a few other aplications, but the better use of it is as a whiff punish tool.

Agree on cr fierce whiff punish, I use it a lot for that purpose. In my opinion, Vega has use for all his normals in order to form an efficient offense

I while ago, all I really wanted out for Vega was to have his c.HP move fixed. Make it not whiff on crouchers, don’t make it punishable on hit, give it a decent hit box for AAing (or in general)… when you AA with it you’re more AAing with his wrist/elbow than you are the claw, it’s a very close AA. (Either way it has a very bad hitbox for doing much of anything.) It should actually match the visuals and Vega should hit with the claw, not the arm.

I just wanted c.HP to be made into a decent move instead of a super-situational one with one-in-a-million applications and if you mess up you get punished hard.

What with them buffing the crap out of the rest of the cast tho, I still think Vega needed the legit reversal move too and there’s no reason to NOT have a 2f link for jab links. Srsly, it’s a stupid way to balance things, making basic jab links 1f, and you can Select Plink it anyways, so what the fuck is the point? Players that want 2f LP linking will get it.

stHK / clHP trade into combo is obviously ok because you are going to use those moves once in a while in the neutral game as a poke or as a way to get a hit confirm.
crHP on the other hand… outside from punish situations you can try to counter poke stuff like Gief’s stMP and so on. But after the trade you are going to be so far outside of the range of crMP that you won’t be able to combo.

Sure, you can still trade with things like Rekka and use a OS Trade with U2, but you pretty much need to guess a Rekka to try that.

cr.hp hitbox extends over hurtbox farther than ryo hitbox on j.hp… So I dont know how you would not trade at worst.

Seriously, these are some VERY underwhelming “buffs”.

His super was buffed with a knee hit, then nerfed big time with damage reduction. No Vega in their right mind is going to spend four bars on this.

The we got that weird RCF-FDC “buff”. Where the hell did this even come from? Who even asked for this? Sure, I think it MIGHT have a use once in a blue moon, but seriously, Vega is a meter dependant chaarcter, and which Vega is going to spend two bars on this?

The 7f U2 buff is good, but that’s not really a buff, more like correcting a nerf that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Mask pickup is a command now. Fine, I guess. With that in mind, can someone explain why Vega has to lose his claw as a result of blocking in the first place?! This is a drawback unique to this character only, and even WITH the claw he is underpowered compared to most of the cast. Not to mention that his design forces him to block. A lot. So why is this character getting punished for playing the way he is designed?

The only thing worth while is the crHP buff, and it remains to be seen how much that will effectively improve Vegas gameplay.

I think it’s funny how Capcom’s flagship word was “balance”. Judging by the current changes it has merely been a shift in top tier characters, and not much of a balancing. Obviously there is no game where ALL the characters are on the exacts ame level, but I feel the gap between top and bottom hasn’t decreased. It’s just a power shift, that’s all.

And remember how thrilled everyone was when the USF4 news were announced and we were happy speculating about PoM +frames, crLP +hitstun, EX ST i.frames, CH improvement, and so on. Now we’re just happy not to have EX RCF nerfed.

Take notes, folks, that’s how you raise kids. Don’t give them what they want. Instead, remove what they already have and see how grateful they are when you return it.

Vega seems definitely low tier now.
