What. -10 dmg on crMK? Please tell me that will never be a thing. The -10 on cr.MP in AE and -20 on ex.barcelona [or was that in 2012?] was already enough. It’s not like we’re doing Akuma/Cammy/Oni/E.Ryu damage here…
Those three characters weren’t low-tier like Vega. Sucks that Bison is losing one whole frame advantage on a zero on block LK Scissor, but he’s at least getting a substantial damage buff (play the AE PC mod) to compensate. Yun is still solid and it’s overall an very, very tiny nerf. Adon is still good and dodge the bullet by keeping the s.HK two-hitter. IDK what you’re talking about, almost everyone else kept their buffs. Dudley, Ken, Chun, THawk, Juri, Gouken, Gen, Oni, Rose, E Ryu (WHO ALSO JUST WON A MAJOR OH BOY BETTER BUFF HIM), Makoto, Guy, Guile, Dhalsim, Dee Jay, Dan, Blanka, Sagat and Balrog are all going to be whicked buffed. You might have noticed that I just listed like half the cast…
The problem lies in that Vega is still a lacking character. He lacks two very essential tools needed to succeed to in Street Fighter. Even the guys that are overall nerfed (Gief, Seth, Adon) are still complete characters that had answers to people jumping around and have answers to pressure besides “block and tech everything perfectly”. They’re not going to be so bad. Vega is going to be the worst character in a game where everyone else is crazy-good like it was Super again. Where he was pretty bad before but not outright horrible in AE, Vega is going to be outclassed be even Dan in Ultra if he doesn’t get anything.
I’m not gonna argue here, but I just don’t see Vega as being the very worst, even in Ultra, with how the current build looks. He’ll be mid-tier like he has been, is how I feel. At the worst, maybe lower-mid. That’s just how I feel and It’s probably just my opinion.
That’s fine if you don’t want to argue, but I think you’re looking at like this is AE. Yes, Vega is pretty much unchanged from AE to Ultra, so what’s the deal, right? But that’s exactly the problem, this isn’t AE. Everyone is getting crazy overkill buffs and Vega is being left in the dust because an incredible player finally won a major with a low/low-mid character after 5 years. Vega was already kinda weak and it’ll be worse than ever now that every other character is crazy good. He’ll be at the bottom of the “the five characters that didn’t get buffed” tier.
Srsly, your average Ultra character would be easy top 3 in AE.
I’ll say it again like I mentioned in one of my posts prior to this. While Vega might not be getting very many changes himself, the system is.
Tell me you don’t think DWU won’t help our footsie game, or that DP FADC is -5 for everyone now. I’m not 100% sure on this but I think It’s actually possible to catch a number of characters on their backdash from DP[With cr.mp, maybe something else, un-sure.]. I know It’s possible to catch Guile like that from his Flash Kick FADC backdash as-is, so that’s what I’m basing it off of.
I think Lethiros here fails to see that ex.st buff is not in the list, as he is talking about "now having an anti-air"
They have removed the inv. frames on ST. Removed the jabs being +5 on hit. Nerfed super’s damage. Removed the ability to link any normal after ex.roll.
He indeed will be the new Dan of USF4.
ex.roll-cr.mp/hk is one of my main combos and Vega’s mostt damaging potential. Adding something like that and then taking it back is completely unfair. And nerfing this and not giving any buffs whatsoever is a clear dislike of the character by the dev team working there, I cannot find any other reason. It is against any kind of logic.
It will require a Vega mainer to be a perfect masochist to continue to play this game. Most will switch or people like me who play Street Fighter games only for the sake of Vega will quit it.
I’m seriously heart-broken. If the game comes out like this, they will have taken away one of my mains of great fun, which is SF4.
If anyone here knows Combofield personally, I hope they will try to get some sense into his head.
The nerf to EX Rolling Crystal Flash’s frame advantage and Rolling Izuna Drop’s damage was first brought up in the Capcom Cup build
But it wasn’t as big of a deal then, because Vega still had those other great buffs going for him.
He was at his best in the NEC’14 build (although 5 frame startup Splendid Claw might’ve been too much) except for that Rolling Crystal Flash bullshit where he was -8 ON HIT.
Then he was completely fair in the Capcom Cup. I hope Capcom realizes this and at the very least revert Vega back to the Capcom Cup build.
Also, nobody seemed to notice the invicibility frame buff for Bloody High Claw from NEC’14 not coming back in the Capcom Cup and this current build. I hope it comes back, I’d like to play around with it more, and not having it get stuffed on the way up would be nice.
Also, I’m STILL hoping the EX RCF nerf is a typo, that it’s a change from +4 to +2 on BLOCK. Since in what I think was the NEC’14 build, his EX RCF received a buff of +4 on block. Then when the Capcom Cup build rolled around, some of you guys mentioned the +4 > +2 on hit was a typo meaning to be on block.
Capcom needs to get better at wording/translating their own changes…
Hope all you want, but it is on hit those changes listed are from v2012, not from any previous loc test. EX RCF was never +4 on block but 0.
All in all this is very disappointing but I guess we’ll manage. Hell, some of us even played vanilla Claw and most of us went through pre v2012 Arcade Edition with him. So bring it on!
I’m willing to agree with you on everything else, but weird as it may be, cr.hp can be used as an anti-air a great deal more reliably. I don’t even mean to rile or stir anybody up here, I’m as upset about it as you guys are, but you have to look at the bright side of things. Also as Korbidon stated before, this isn’t even the last test or the final product yet.
Let’s all just cross our fingers and maybe do a little pitch-forking.
Except, we won’t. That was Vanilla, the game was new, we knew changes would come and our half-finished char would get fixed. But now these are the final changes. They will stay for good. No other changes will come after USF4. No more than quarter of current mainers will stay after some months. And the remaining will not be able to win any minor tournaments.
I’ve posted on there for 3 iterations now and have nothing to show for it. I’m done. Whatever happens happens. I’ve already dropped 2012 again due to this crap. I’ll pick the game up again when/if they decide to give vega more options. I came back on the premise that they’d address his problems and it’s clear they won’t. So yeah, Capcom won’t be getting my money this time.
DWU will help vega more than most characters because his offense doesn’t really rely on those sort’s of setups and he lacks a reversal outside of ultra.
He really really should have had that +5 crouching lp though.
