Is there a general damage increase as well?

Nope. The damage output between 3rd Strike and SF4 is close. I’m not sure why more damage would be good.

The low damage in sf4 results on a lot of time outs so people complain about it. Plus it gives the worse player more chances to adapt to the good player.

I think damage should definitely go up a bit.

The speed of the game is not just about damage. In fact, it really doesn’t matter all that much.

The pace of the game is far more important than the length of a round.

If the mod fail to make the pace fast enough that game would still end in time out, then that is a failure on my part, because I do want a faster pace, and I expect my changes to have helped make a more aggressive & unpredictable gameplay.

But increasing damage output is not a solution to anything.

so wait how’s the leniency on these parries. Can I hold forward and press mp+mk from like the point of their start up and still expect it to work or is it another one frame link?

You just need to be holding forward when tapping MP+MK. No timing required. The parry window opens immediately with MP+MK and lasts 12 frames (8 in the air).

Not sure which of those you were asking exactly but it should answer you.

Actually with the faster dashes there is a possibly unintentional increase in damage output as new FADC combos become possible. For example: Cody can now do Red Focus - Dash - EX Badstone and it combos grounded. He can also do Criminal Upper - FADC - CloseMP - crHP where as previously he had to do close (or crouching) LP - closeMP - crHP.

Thats the exact amount of frames 3rd Strike was using. The biggest problem here is there were 2 ways to do things. The old way of doing things -was- to give it a big recovery, but it made it feel not like 3rd Strike at all. Instead a missed parry was so obvious it was way too easy to punish. Parrying was just way too risky.

Its really not as bad as it sounds. The window is smaller than it sounds and you can only parry one of two ways.

The only real difference with 3rd Strike is that you can spam the parry. (I haven’t found a way to limit this, you still have to cancel the parry before you make another one so its not so bad)

Otherwise, if 3rd Strike parrying bothered you, this mod will bother you.

I’m not trying to make a competitive mod. If people really wanted that, I could make a version with weaker parries. I don’t see the point, though. The mod will not be used in any competitive manner. Just play it with friends and have some fun, thats all there is to this.

Not gonna lie, I’m not a big fan of parry in the first place and I haven’t tried this mod out yet either so it may not actually be that bad. It just sounded really spammable initially since you can activate it with buttons.

Love the target goal of this mod or hate it, you can’t deny that this is some fantastic work. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it already, even for what’s basically just an alpha release.

This is really cool. My wish list came true! Wish it would work on xbox. Much respect and props to you @SFJ. Ono san should take notes. I was playing USF today, I must say it felt like I was playing in mud with brick shoes on. It is horridly slow compared to 3S.

Yeah I wasn’t trying to be a dick. I actually liked your first 3S mod for AE that made Seth more like Urien and shit, and you also actually taught me something about Ono even after I was pretty good with it. I was just saying that I thought the Parry sounded bad but like I said I haven’t played it yet either.

All you would need to do is make damage scaling reset after a stun.

Can we place it on edition select mode? So 3rd Strike char can fight againts ultra or omega char.

I know you’re just being a pest to get what you think you want but his reasoning had nothing to do with being unable to do it but rather being unwilling to do it. Please don’t reply.

tried it, i’d perhaps suggest you remove focus attack / fadc altogether. less is more. i’m not a huge fan of 3s, but i don’t mind trying other people’s mods out. if i was trying to make it game play more like 3s, i would work on letting people quick getup from everything that isn’t a super. and also perhaps let some kind of reset juggles happen but i don’t know a good way to do that in this engine without just having easy reset infinites. i’d also see about fiddling with the throws, the 3s throws w the quick getup and short tech window. i’d also increase the pushback and fiddle the frame data so that people dont go jab jab jab jab jab strong special. no combos like c.mp c.mp c.hk either. the 3s classic is just the simple short short super. w regards to this everything felt very sluggish, especially the canned animations like throws, but that may be because of sf4’s default data. look at 3s’s fireball frame data too.
sorry, i haven’t played the regular sf4 in a very very long time so i don’t exactly know what is changed.

i would recommend you try to find what your mod can bring to the table that is new and unique and will draw players in, and try to emphasize that. because if it is just 3s+sf4, then people who like sf4 will say, “well, why not just play sf4, this is like 3s”, and people who play 3s will say “why not play 3s, this is just like sf4”, even if neither are accurate.
