Your original post makes you seem pretty upset that people aren’t getting into the stream as much as you’d like – and part of that involves commentary. I haven’t been to any gathering with the stream setup so I can’t make any direct comments about it, take what I say how you want since I haven’t been directly involved with the stream.
Please don’t take offense to what I said, I’m not trying to say “Well it’s your stream it’s your fault!” like some snot-nosed teenager. Rather, if you had some people really serious about participating in the stream we wouldn’t have this discussion. Right now I get the feeling people think of the stream like “hey it’s neat if it’s not there it’s cool”, cause everyone is focused on the games. You’ll have to ask your major stream players why they’re not so enthusiastic-- my guess is it’s the commentary issue listed above + feelings that no one but Geoff’s stream monsters are watching.

Let me just say one thing, the fact that so many people are wanting to play/getting hype about the scene and wanting to stream etc., I think is pretty dang cool and totally approve of. I feel kinda lame for not ever really getting out to play with people and participating in this stuff, but i’m at a stage in life where i’m working 40 hours a week then spending most of my nights (even if chilling on gay pc games) in my room with the soon to be wife and the majority of the time I DO get out of the house, its to do something with her.
If the scene would have had something like this going on back before I was in this serious of a relationship,
(old school guys know this statement is actually ridiculous cuz I was in a different pretty serious relationship for like 6 1/2 years , but thats beside the point, because I still got out more during that one because that girl lived for school so she was always busy lol)
I would have loved the frick out of it and been all over helping and participating.
But anyway, long story short I just wanted to say props to the newer “ish” dudes for stepping up and to Steve for streaming things. I look forward to saturday should be really fun.
If anything, commentary or not, I’m thankful these streams are up so that I can watch the archives and see what I can work on improving.
Quick 2 cents: I’ll commentate all day, as long as I know what’s going on. Unfortunately SF4 and MvC3 are probably the two games that I can commentate on with any real confidence - the latter not so much except for the characters that I’ve played with and generally play against. Like Mike G said, though - the lack of viewers makes it difficult to want to commentate, some people just want to game and that’s it, and not everyone is playing whichever game is on, so we’d be commentating on the same few people and that would get stale real fast. Also, typically, there’s one guy who’s above all of the rest, so he’s gonna be in the chair for most of the night and commentating on how x beasts on everyone else with whatever the hell will get old. If we could keep the rotation dynamic (e.g. Ft3s and then two players who haven’t played each other come on), then that might work out better.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I personally take a bit of offense to this.

the point im trying to get at here, the whole point of this “stream” IS to get our names out there, but as of right now, we’re nobodys, (whether you like to admit it or not, nobody outside of the 4 major cities in Florida we’ve been to for tournies, knows who we are) If you take offense to it im sorry, but we’re not big right now and thats just the simple truth. You walk up to NEC or SoCal regionals or anything like that, and you’re just another scrub like the rest of them, we all are. Thats the first step at becoming a better player, is acknowledging where you are right now. No one said you aren’t good Chris, but the fact of the matter is, nobody cares about casuals from a no name town with a bunch of no name players with mediocre skills. I’ll stand by what i said. That doesn’t mean i don’t respect your skills, Of course I do, you taught me everything i know about Street Fighter 4. None of us has ever won a major, ever. We may have placed well in several local tournaments across the state but thats it. We both scrubbed out at final round. We did better at CEO, but not by much.
So I meant no disrespect by what i said, and you shouldn’t have been offended whatsoever, and I’m sorry if you were, but I still stand by what I said. Do I want this to change? Of course I do, thats why i’ve been working so hard to build up a consistent scene in this town, thats why I’m willing to drive all over town to make sure that people can get to games, Its why i always volunteer myself to drive all over the state, Its because I love this scene and I love you guys, simple and honest truth. So please don’t take offense, if you do there’s nothing I can do about it, but there was no disrespect or maliciousness behind my words. Only the truth that I’m willing to accept and work past.
Dude I think you should stick with him. He has SOOOOO much potential.
So I know I’m not the greatest at marvel, but considering all the shitty sentinel I’ve seen these past few months, I was considering making a strat/rush/combo vid. What do you guys think? I’ve been playing extend so much that I’ll probably be dropping marvel soon, so I figured I might as well release what I found and let people who are actually good at the game go crazy with it.

I want to commentate on some stream when I get in town again. It was always my calling. Humor, strats, politics, social commentary, jokes, profanity, sexual suggestions, homoerotic undertones…I’m perfect!
You completely missed what i was saying. I never said you weren’t a good player because you didn’t win any majors, I’m saying no one outside of North Florida knows who we are at all. Did you even read my post?
