Honestly, I think Capcom is about to do something big with Viper so they are giving her even more goodies. They said her alt. outfit for UMvC3 is related to something special for her later on.

I vaguely remember an interview with Nitsuma in which he stated that early on in development they wanted both Sentinel and Juggernaut, among others, however Marvel didn’t want to bring back both of these characters and Capcom had to narrow their choices. If Capcom really wanted a character, they really might not get it.

Not quite. The shield is done when the rocks are in the air, and Molecular Shield only fires off 4 1 point rocks at max. It’s just a timing thing in the video, the new Soul Fist is simply so slow it arrives as Molecular Shield goes into launch mode.
