Ultimate Salt - Nerfs you are looking FORWARD to in UMvC3

Something about Hulk being strongest there is… how could you have forgotten?

Ninja Edit: Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulk SMASH!

First of all it is crushing even if thats not how you play. (Gamertag: Kingviktaunius3) I can show you how bad ass a rushdown phoenix can be. The only times I generally toss salty balls is at the end of a combo if I dont have meter because I blew it on the last combo. I never rely on DP because it is BS and OP but One air action is completely crippling. Hell even if you like to … for example airdash DF H, Cl,CM, Teleport H up and above then Teleport M down behind Then go for her overhead or Low depending on where there blocking this opens people up about 99% of the time and I have never seen it used the way I do it. there punishing me for playing her differently when the only thing they need to do is remove the priority on the fireballs or even make them non tracking and remove those cheap ass projectile feathers. Seriously people talking dumb shit about how not crushing one air action is are just completely fucking biased. I play thor also should he have one air action?

No, you’re looking at it the wrong way. Try to picture yourself playing a round of MvC3, the opposing team is Zero, Tron, and Dr. Doom. Now try touching Zero. You can’t right? That, my friend, is the ol’ Capcom formula of 1/HP = BALANCE

If Hulk is so strong, why’s he wearing purple shorts? I mean, where’s he even get those at? Kmart? Who the hell sells purple shorts?

i think the thing you arent getting here is that even if YOU dont play that way… other people do.

i personally have a friend that will do NOTHING but superjump and salty ball my ass into oblivion. i can counter it, sure. but it is waaay to powerful and just unfun in a general sense to play against. its like as if you use wolverine and DONT berserkers slash mixup… that doesnt mean that others dont and the move is just fine and peachy keen.

Which was why I stated an easy fix is to remove the tracking properties of the salty balls and projectile durability and poof problem fixed. Who the fuck cares if she spams fireballs if they just fly harmlessly by.

Edited to add… I literally almost fell out of my chair laughing when C.Viper just optic blasted jeans ass through a tk shot.

you are right… there are a MILLION different things they could have done to nerf the balls of glowing doom. however any one of those nerfs would have affected different phoenixs differently. case in point if they nerfed ironmans smartbombs they would be nerfing MY ironman… but not necessarily the next guys. your style got hit… we get it. it sucks… but its what happens. my style of playing ibuki got hit from super to AE… so i adjusted. you have a right to be mad, but in the end your just going to have to adjust like everyone else or drop her like i might drop ironman cause of his tridash nerf.

people arent really hearing you from the phoenix stance cause they are hearing “she shouldnt have been nerfed” rather than “she should have been nerfed differently” but in the end its all semantics. some will be affected more than others… you just gotta live with it man… or do like i do and go preach to the choir (your character specific boards) its a pity party in the ironman forums… but we aint taking that shit into gen pop.

Seriously, why the hell does Viper of all characters need a projectile?

I know, right? Give my man Chris a parabolic grenade launcher special move already!

She already has seismic hammer, one of if not the best projectiles in the game. Luckily from trying it out the optic blast didn’t seem incredibly useful, but there are likely a lot of things it will be valuable against.

I’m not looking forward to health nerfs, especially for Phoenix and Akuma…its like really? But oh well. I’m dying to see how Chun plays with the buffs shes got and Strider has got me super hype. It’s gonna be a hassle creating a team. Le sigh

phoenix health nerf is funny to me… especially when you stop and think that somebody got paid to make that decision. its like a plumber fixing a leak with duct tape, sure itll help but… really?

Seismo isn’t really a projectile, at the very least it does a poor job of giving Viper distance due to how slow it comes out and the built-in guessing game involved for the Viper player themselves.

The addition of the OB is pretty plain: A move to give Viper another option when pushed full screen. Frankly, it’s a large help.

16 frames for something that eats plasma beam, level 3 buster shot etc is far from bad. Especially when paired with the fact that the only analogue attack which people love for zoning (purification) has twice the start up at 32 frames and doesn’t cancel like seismo for over ten times the recovery. If seismo had any less start up it would be sillier than it already is. Optic Blast’s start up at least at the EVO build was dramatically longer than seismic hammer and unlike hammer you couldn’t negate the entirety of its recovery. Viper doesn’t really have many problems when she’s full screen aside from Magneto whose disruptor won’t be as much of a problem in Ultimate anyways.

Seismo is one of the best moves in the game for many reasons.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Seismo is bad: I’m just saying that there is a learning curve built into it. I think we can all agree that MvC’s Seismo is better than her SSF4 version. The problem that arises with seismo is in that the move requires you to play a guessing game against yourself in which version you should use. Of course, this could be said for almost any move, but I think it doubly applies to the useage of SS due to the nature of Viper’s offense. I’m just saying, it’s nice Viper is getting a pushback move that can create some distance while also giving her a bit of forward moment when midscreen or further that isn’t just what the opponent may completely expect.

That, and it looks cool.

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. God bless you.

May you have a prosperous life.

I agree totally on the fact that it looks cool, the only thing with the guessing game analogy is that it’s a guessing game where execution is the only issue, if you guessed wrong you can cancel on whiff into anything and everything to punish your opponent’s good read. What a well designed move.

The more nerfs to Phoenix, the better. I don’t give a shit if they make her the next Hsien-Ko, hell I hope Phoenix makes Hsien-Ko look like Wesker in this new version. People have been getting away with Phoenix dependency for way too long… I can’t wait to see who adapts and who keels over with the nerfed crutch.

Because Capcom doesn’t want to put Cyclops in the game. Viper has Optic Blast and now Ryu’s Shinku Hadouken rebounds off the walls. Both stolen from his fighting style, it’s pretty a cheap way to say we remember him yet we’re still aren’t gonna put him in the game.

I don’t see how your tactic wouldn’t still work! Teleport H would be a ground action, and your next teleport behind them would count as your one air action.

I’m not trying to ignore that it is a pretty big nerf, I understand the significance. But to me it’s MORE significant in that it makes people think the character out. Clearly you have already done so, and I honestly respect you for that. The point I was trying to make is that now Phoenix won’t be straight up derpmode. I liken it to Berserker Slash getting nerfed. Wolverine is probably still going to be really good, but now people will have to invest time into different tactics than just spamming assist + slash.

Thor should have like 12 actions. Or what I was telling a friend of mine, leave Thor as is and double his health to 2.5 million. That’ll make him playable!
