I agree on the Wesker and Wolverine health nerfs. No really fast characters who can get in your face in a blink of an eye, and have all the tools for it as well, should have high health. There should be high risks involved with characters like those.
I’m all for assist not having hard knockdowns anymore. It will make players react faster if they want that combo.
Zero’s buster being a soft knockdown is actually a nerf a like a lot, I always hated that it killed the pace of the match. Combos might be harder in some situations, but nothing practice doesn’t solve.
Phoenix will still be dangerous if they remove the TAC removing one meter, if not, I don’t find her scary at all.
Hopefully Magneto doesn’t have that much of a speed nerf on his airdash so he can still RTSD like he always does. I think it was kind of unfair he could zone and rushdown so good, but now disruptor is back at MVC2 speed (?) so he can’t switch as easy.
Tron nerf had to happen, many people explained what they think already at DevilJin’s assist thread.
Wolverine with no invincibility on Berserker Slash is probably like Linari said, more like X-23 and Zero now when it comes to cross-ups. I think he still will be pretty dangerous.
And one last one, I dislike that Sent doesn’t stomp on people anymore. Stomping was so fun.
I would have been happy with the X-Factor nerf if it had been done correctly but early returns suggest that that isn’t the case ergo I’m not on board with that. I am indifferent to the removal of the DHC trick and pretty much every other nerf I’ve seen (especially health ones in lieu of actual real balance changes) can fuck right off. I really don’t want to end up with a game that’s basically 3 on 3 SSFIV.
Just going to point out that Shuma Gorath is the weakest Marvel character in the game, and Joe is a superhero with the power of time manipulation and keen martial arts, with Six Machine, that can literally be as big as a planet if need be. Canonical strength should not dictate a fighting game’s balance, character playstyle, yes, obviously, but not balance, and I see it as an excuse for super powerful characters (in-game) surprisingly often. I think even recall Seth said something about Vanilla Sagat, “He’s a giant Muay Thai fighter, of course he’s strong!” In that case, so much is wrong with 3S.
She is a gimmick character that is a God in this game because of her gimmick.
Am I salty? Yes, that is what this thread is about.
On the subject of salt. **WHY DOES SHOCKING PINK HURTS JOE? **Dante gets 50 billion moves because they want him to be close to his DMC carnation… but then all of a sudden Shocking Pink hurts Joe for no reaso, and is not air ok. Also, ever since RadRed pointed out that pre-release Joe’s RHK could OTG, I still cannot fathom why that is gone.
(Insert necessary Hsien-ko salt) I will let her real fans do this for her. Poor, chinese zombie girl
/salt… for now.
Edit for more salt"
I am gald you brought that up. Not only is her flame nerfed, but her j.:h: can only combo into drill now, and is a tighter space. 1 less way to get in. I just… Haaa… Short of ground drill being safe… wtf, man? At least I can zone better with servbots now.
as someone who generally prefers things in games to be balanced around overpoweredness than balanced around weaknesses this is how i feel
-Phoenix i feel if her H tk shots had maybe 1 or 2 points of durability and maybe only travelled a screens length then shed be more fair to deal with. dark jeans traps may not need to be so big or not cause a wallbounce… make her work a little for the mixup
-logan zerk slash nerf seems fair or maybe make his moves similiar to zero where multiple hits causes lots of scaling and force you to work for your tods or settle for less damage. or keep the zerk slash invunerability but remove the auto correcting so you have to have better spacing to make it work. if they nerf his hp they should play on his healing factor just to make him feel more like wolverine
-wesker i believe should get a hp nerf… 1 million why not?
-fix some of the stupid hitboxes or hell even change the animations to better represent them.
-zero hard knockdown nerf is good cuz i think a buster knockdown just messes up the tempo of the game waiting for yourself to get up.
on paper i think there are far worse characters in the game like zero or viper that people generally dont cry about because you have to work harder for their bullshit which seems fair. i wish they went about making 1 hit kills and scary mixups less herp derpy rather than just nerfing shit cuz people cry about it
oh yeah and level 3 xfactor bein able to kill with abcs abc is stupid too… but thats staying
I’m looking forward to the Phoenix/Logan/xfactor nerfs the most. The Magneto “nerf” is also good, even though I play Mags. Less braindead zoning and new specials make him a much more interesting character. The airdash nerf is also very minor, and overall hes a better character in Umvc3.
You guys do realize that without his partially(ya was only invulnerable for about half) invulnerable berzerkslash, wolverine is going to be the easiest character in the game to zone? He has almost no air manueverability and - projectiles or invulnerable full screen supers. Also at least half the roster could do the double ko with lvl 1 x factor so still not sure why people complain about that only with wolverine… Sure maybe he was one of the stronger characters, i still feel dante was by far the strongest, but these changes are going to be wolverine terrible bottom tier for sure. Besides dante’s teleport with an assist or really any other teleport setup with an assist was much more effective that berzerker slash so again why people complained about it so much…
I’ll think this over beyond XF/DarkFactor Phoenix/Wolvie teleslash nerfs later, but the one thing that immediately comes to mind is Wesker’s hitboxes. Huh? Not to mention the Magic Bullet. It just seems like poor programming. Then again, I guess a lot of hitboxes need to be reworked. But I guess we won’t know all of those changes until release.
Though honestly, I’m more excited for buffs to underpowered characters.
More people acting like the meter stealing TAC is going to change anything. LOL.
Here’s what’s really good about the TAC shit. I didn’t make a big deal about it because you die in one combo any ways and I only really found it super bullshit for DHC glitch based or Phoenix based teams. They nerfed the TAC system so there’s a color coded escape system after the flash. Once people learn to react to the colors good luck getting that shit out every other combo anymore. Which is fine cuz I abuse the shit out of it too much as it is.
**The biggest nerf to Phoenix is definitely the H shot. The biggest change that will do is make it so every character will easily have access to pick her down and kill her off during the 5 seconds she is vulnerable during a snap back. ** No more having to call Akuma assist while doing a 4 way mix up each time just to have a chance. She gets to throw one H shot and then she’s coming back down to the ground.
While I definitely see your concern, I think thats the way it should have been from the get go. Berserker slash still looks like a pain to block once wolvie gets in, and when paired with an assist should still give people issues, but now wolvie is gonna have to work to get in. I mean the fact that berserker slash was more efficient at getting in than a lot of characters teleports is just insulting to be quite honest, and then once in it was also effective at opening the opponent up as well. With the amount of damage wolvie can dish out and how easy it-probably-still is for him to open people up, I think its fair that he should struggle getting in on zoners this time around.
As for the overall nerfs, so far I am happy with them cause they appear to be addressing some of the issues from the last game:
The dhc glitches removal is probably the change Im the most happy about, I mean a reset without the need for a reset is just no fair by any definition and with characters with meter building abilities like magneto, it lead to a dead character of a throw which is bullshit if you ask me. Plus the fact that most of the top tier could take advantage of it further reduced the need for exploration of other characters.
Magnetos disruptor slow down, as a chris player I found it hilarious(not really) that magneto, one of the best rushdown characters in the game, was a much better zoner than chris. I mean from full screen magnus had the advantage, and up close magnus had the advantage, hows that for balance.
Those are the two Im most excited about, phoenix nerfs could go either way so ill wait to see them in action before I comment and x-factor doesn’t really look nerfed at all so no comment on that. Although I am glad wesker lost health since he was so fast, mobile and damaging I didn’t see why he was given so much health.
Yeah I haven’t seen enough with the XF changes to determine if it was toned down enough. I hear the damage and speed has been normalized across characters but haven’t seen for certain. That will definitely change things for characters that got huge XF3 speed boosts like Felicia and Chun Li if that’s true. The videos I was watching level 1 and 2 XF’s still seemed like they lasted god awful too long as usual. It’s MVC3 though so I guess you can’t really expect the world.
The Mag and Wekser nerfs. Because I’d like to see some character variation. All they did to mag was make him more difficult. The trade off “suck em in” magnetism move though may fix magneto’s problem. Lol, SETH-neto.
I’m not looking forward to most of the changes in this game. They are nerfing so much random shit its hilarious. Even nerfing the assists doesn’t sit well with me. UMvC3: Nerf of Two Worlds.
