Look at how strict Gold armor Hsien-Ko/Arthur is vs Devil trigger. There is literally no weakness to Devil Trigger, Dante don’t even fucking need it. A fucking level 1 super gives you more benefits than a level 3 from Jill. This is like comparing Ammy’s projectile counter vs Hsien-Ko’s gong…saltworthy.
-Look at the fact that Taskmaster doesn’t have a airdash too abuse his normals vs Dante has better retarded normals that he can abuse with a dash. Dante has a chunk of aerial options to make his normals safe…such as Hammer.
Why does Hammer viturally no glaring weakneses? It’s basically better than Haggar’s lariat because aerial properties. There is a low height restirection, you don’t lose health, you get better option…and it’s a superior character using it. Again Hsien Ko’s gong vs Ammy’s projectile…salt worthy.
The idea that Magneto/Phoenix/Wesker/Wolverine should be nerfed without nerfing Dante makes no sense.
Hammer’s weakness funny enough is that it loses to Haggar’s lariat for free. If you’re fighting against a Haggar team Haggar’s lariat has 45 more invincible frames than hammer and hits on both sides also so. Which means Haggar lariat pretty much shuts down Hammer. Against any team without Haggar you can run it pretty liberally as long as they don’t catch on and wait for you to whiff one and then air throw the next one. It still has 5 frames of recovery so characters with fast dash in to crouch pokes like Wolverine and She Hulk can blow up the recovery unless you TK it off the ground basically. If you don’t like Hammer get Haggar’s assist on your team basically or force air throws on him after he whiffs one.
In general Hammer is designed to cover Dante’s one big weakness which is dying to frame traps and throws once he loses his positioning. All of his projectile specials have slow start up and he only has one special move that activates fast enough to keep people off of him without going to the hammer. If you move in past the hammer Dante is basically done unless he has Haggar or Tron so it’s imperative for Dante to have good projectile or protection assist backing his point projectiles and ports. Dante can’t really turtle most rushdowns that well without assists. Especially since his teleport will only move him closer to the rushdown which gets blown up by air throws or S launchers unless you cover it with assists.
Either way it’s been confirmed that they’ve cut down the invincible frames on hammer. He didn’t really need 15 frames any way.
The problem with Haggar’s lariat is that Haggar himself cannot make it seem scary to get tagged by the move. He really doesn’t have much options without assists, and he can’t do much even with meter. Haggar’s lariat assist is godlike because most of the cast can start combos from the ground. Dante’s aerial hammer is superior to the lariat because he automatically could start a combo from it. That he has aerial properties that allow to space his hammer in ways that lariat can’t be done. If Haggar misses his lariat, he will get punished servely for his efforts. If Dante misses his hammer, there is a punishment window…but it’s safer because it’s in the air.
The fact that you need to bring Haggar’s assist to defeat Dante’s hammer just shows you how ridiculous the move is, and how bad shit would be if Haggar/Tron’s assist weren’t as good as they are in Vanilla.
Yeah, but I’m basing that on how fast I KO’d him with Wesker multiple times. S, MMHS, OTG gun Shot followed by jS cLMHS MMHS OTG gunshot KO’d from essentially full health, checking training mode right now, that’s not even a full 800k. I never once hand Dante survive two basic magic series from Wesker into OTG the entire Evo weekend. So unless Wesker got a damage buff, Dante lost health. The first series had about 15 people watching and commenting along the lines of “Holy shit Dante lost health, never seen him go down that fast”.
I noticed the same thing when playing against a Wesker at EVO. Though I didn’t really notice it against anyone else, may not have paid enough attention though. Either way, Dante either had less health or Wesker was doing more damage.
In fact everyone had almost the same reaction the first time it happened.
If Wesker actually got a damage buff excuse me while I bash my head into the wall repeatedly. People will cry far, far more when he does above average damage than when he had tank health. Therefore I choose to believe Dante got a health nerf until proven otherwise.
