I’ll delete if not true but until then…

VGchartz was probably not even close, but UMvC3 never had a chance to chart on NPD at all. November and December belong to blockbusters and Capcom was surely planning to follow the SFIV(3.1 million LTD)-SSFIV(1.6 million at half the original’s sales for LTD)-SSFIV:AE(800k LTD is probably their hope, but I think they sold less so far) progression.
SSFIV has sold over 1.6 million copies, but it got about 180k first month in the US NPD. I have no idea if UMvC3 hit that number, but I doubt it and the game probably wouldn’t hit top thirty with that number either.
Yeah, this game was not made for new people at all despite all the silly comeback mechanics and easy peezy combos. Capcom really needs to think about how to TEACH these people with better mission modes(BlazBlue on this one), more comprehensive(read: online training with friends ala Skullgirls/SFxTekken) training modes and more comprehensive tutorials(BlazBlue, Skullgirls, Virtua fighter).
Capcom has a stranglehold on the 2D fighting realm, but it doesn’t mean much for us outside of new games since we aren’t retaining these people who buy Capcom’s offerings.
Yeah the game bombed sales wise. Nowhere near Top 10 in sales this month.
All goes back to the original release of MvC3. Game was obviously rushed and it showed in many areas. While UMvC3 is great and more balanced, it still shows how rushed even this was. They couldn’t even develop brand new stages?
The problem isn’t just with people new to fighters, but people new to any genre. Even with the most newbie friendly game ever, experienced players will always wreck them. There is basically nothing you can do to undo player skill and experience. The only thing the newbie can do is grind it out and hope to level up their game from constantly playing and get to a point where they can survive.
has anyone seen the article about capcom in the new gameinformer(issue with southpark on cover)?
Nah, but I looked for it on Google. Is this it?
EDIT: Actually, this looks like a separate interview related to that article. Nevermind.
You come into a thread of a game you clearly don’t like & start bashing it, infront of people who seem to be worried about the game’s fate. Seems like a pretty dick move to me. You don’t see me going to BlazBlue threads or some s*** like that & start bashing it infront of it’s fans.
spot on, fvck Capcom for the shxt they pulled with MvC3, glad they got hit where it counts, in sales.
Make your point, then. Saying, “Hey, I think you’re a troll!” is frankly a waste of a post. You either respond or you ignore him.
There are people who hate Marvel 3 for legitimate reasons.
Yeah, really. Thnx dickheads. Maybe you did win.
Guess what? Capcom won’t learn anything from this, except that it’s time to hang up the franchise again for a decade, and cancel the 4-6 DLC characters that were being developed.
When the inevitable Darkstalkers game comes out, they will most likely implement the exact same formula they’ve been doing…Oh, wait, a japanese Capcom exec just randomly decided to read a bunch of forum posts where kids from the entitled generation whined about no Megaman and no DLC upgrade and for some reason…about wanting to pay more for the 12 new characters as DLC because they are drooling tards.
Absolutely, it would have been nice and perhaps even right to have Ult be Vanilla. Quite frankly, I bet Capcom wanted it that way too, but finishing a game on time is no easy task. It’s fantastic that they wanted to try to perfect it, and real fans are lucky for that.
I think: A) It’s awesome that they brought this game back from a 10 year grave in the first place. B) A real fan doesn’t give fuck-all about HOW a game company markets its releases. When did it even become the concern of a gamer? Play / buy the game or don’t…but no one EVER CARED about what you thought the company should’ve done. You waging war on a billion-dollar company in the dark of your basement, on one of a dozen FG forums is tantamount to the bacteria in the zits on your face whining that you should wash it even less. Get some fucking perspective…And I know you’re lookin for this response, shit-faced troll.
Is there seriously a new GI out? I just got the Rainbow6: Patriots issue like yesterday!
The argument is that games can educate their players in more meaningful ways than making combos easier, such as having useful tutorial modes. Yes, it’s up to the players to push themselves to get better, but the least the games can do is send them in the right direction.
eh. games are supposed to teach you. Every game is supposed to assume that no one knows what the fuck is going on. even if its an established franchise.
Mario games legit have tutorials on jumping and shit. it wouldn’t kill fighting games to come up with a set of challenges that aren’t “hey can you do this combo that doesn’t connect fully that we’re having you do for a trophy? (chris trials)” or " this opponent is blocking low, use x attack to attack them and explaining why it works, or this computer is set up to block your assist and you but not change how it is blocking, how should you approach?"
it’s not brain surgery compared to actually making the game in the first place.
While tutorials are nice, they can only really teach the most basic of basic stuff (which they don’t do at the moment, but definitely a start). The thing with fighting games is that since the game develops more and more as it is played, a lot of the knowledge becomes obsolete or just not very good the longer the game is played. As a result, spending time teaching stuff that is past the basic or core stuff might be a waste of time.
So let’s assume that you really DON’T know what the fuck is going on and the tutorial does teach you the basics and does a good job at it. Chances are that still won’t help as much as it should if you just happen to go against someone experienced who simply understands the system. So while the tutorial is still helpful, it only does you any good if 1) you care enough to actually even do the tutorials 2) if the tutorials are good enough to teach stuff that is worthwhile 3) the game is designed in such a way that there aren’t a lot of factors outside of the tutorials that can come into play later on.
I agree that the game should have tutorials in place that to teach these things but nothing character specific. It should all be general concepts.
You know what’s an awesome idea? DLC tutorials. As the game ages, more tutorials get made for it covering the new competitive techniques that get revealed. In-depth character tutorials could be given out 6 months after release to chronicle those characters’ development. Something like the Blazblue CT special edition pro tutorials, but DLC and not just a one-time thing.
That way, tutorials wouldn’t have to worry about being outdated after a while.
No, you’re a troll for posting obnoxious image macros.
funny thing is im not asking the game to hold my hand.
dont leave new people sitting in training mode practicing combos that are impractical when you aren’t teaching them to get in.
hell the ability to set up training mode the same way the trials are.
can i not input a combo that works into the game and make my own trial?
i’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be the largest task.
just anything new to the table.
im really hoping H&H is hilariously fun.
what a boring day in the office if the most fun thing that i did was read this whole thread
i really doubt that Zato 1 is a copy of venom, considering that his desing along many of the other charcaters come from the 80’s when ishiwatari daisuke was on highschool, not to mention that marvel is not big on japan and that the only similarity is that both have symbiote creatures, the nature of their powers and their origins are way different
The first Venom was **EDDIE **Brock, too
but the name of Eddie on Guilty Gear comes from Iron Maiden’s Mascot Eddie The Head. so my point remains, only because you find it similar, it doesnt mean that its a rip off
FUCK YOU MY CONSPIRACY THEORY IS SOUND.
FACTS ARE STUPID THINGS.
