Ultimate MvC3 potentially an ultimate sales failure - Implications?

LOL at people mad at Angry Joe for being RIGHT

low game sales prove itXD

btw kanta kun, Joe pretty much called it, first review he joked about Capcom scamming people with a new rendition of the same game and he ended up being RIGHT

sad irony is Megaman being in the game could have helped sales a lot more than rocket raccoon lmfao

You registered today, to dickride on one stupid-ass nerd. No respect.

Umad Angry Joe was right? Umad this game bombed? It’s ok, you can always buy SFxTekken and Super SFxTekken, give Capcom all yo moniesXD

He gets a -3/10 for missing the point entirely, and trying to troll about something almost unrelated. Props for the Saints 3 reference, though. Is that you, Matt?

Just report him.

Done and done. Pretty sure the last thing the forum needs at the moment is another Mega-Man dickriding troll.

Anyway here is the issues with Juggs: Colossus is now JuggeIrnaut so Cain is powerless.

Psylocke: Is hated by a lot of comic fans since she represents all the bad things about comics. Too sexualized, and a horrible convoluted backstory.

Gambit Marvel sees no reason to push him. Tried to push him but his solo didn’t go over well at all.

Cyke and Rogue by the HnH cards most likely were on the table.

Venom, Eddie is no longer Venom and most likely won’t be for a while due to how good Flash Venom is doing. So if we did get a Venom would of been him.

So mentioning mega man makes me a “dickriding troll”. Time to report you then for your abrasive conductXD

My point was simply most sane people aren’t gonna buy the same game twice in the same YEAR

and for all the hatred mega man gets here, I’d not be surprised if there were quite a few people who didn’t buy this game simply BECAUSE of all the goofy anti megaman trolling shit

stop getting mad at megaman fans for having the balls to do what yall never could, which is not only openly voice dissent, but also STICKING TO IT

seriously, capcom will keep pulling shit like this with their games because they know damn well all you “i’m so hardcore time to grind in da lab omg I luv mike ross” types on this forum will cry and whine over the slightest changes, yet BUY THE GAME ANYWAY, over half the posts here are so called “hardkore” fighting game fans bitching nonstop over every single thing in the game, yet yall bought the game anyway, come on now. Seriously, every Capcom game you guys do this ish

SF4
"OMFG it’s so slow, it sucks omg so scrubby scrub game, I hate ONO omg it sucks!":blah:
buys SF4 and all its renditions

MvC3
"OMFG capcom sold me a beta omg ripoff ripoff omfg scam omg I hate capcom so much why nerf sent omfg phoenix is so bullshit omg game so scrubby, not deep and amazing and technical like MvC2, disappointment of the year!":blah:
buys MvC3 and UMvC3

seriously, make fun of megaman fans all you want, least when they whined about a megaman game that much they simply didn’t buy it, you guys are the reason why capcom is gonna kill this genre again

oh well, maybe you can have ten more years of UMvC3:rofl:

Capcom still has “that Mega Man thing” on its back that is never going away. The bitching will never cease until Mega Man is put in something relevant, I.E UMVC3 or SFxT due to Lupinko’s rumor.

Those people who are bitching about no Mega Man in the game? They aren’t hardcore Mega Man fans. Hardcore Mega Man fans are pretty tired of all the bitching too. Those fans are mainly pissed off about Legends 3 getting canceled still, like I said before. Universe getting cancelled was “meh”. That part of the fanbase didn’t care. The ones who DO bitch are causal bandwagon fools who think bitching at a company for not bending to their desires by putting a fan character into a fanservice game.

I consider myself a hardcore Mega Man fan, so here’s my take. The X costume on Zero? Cool. The Days of Future Past poster? Awesome. Mega Nova Corps? The collective universe of villains are fucked five ways to Sunday. The H&H cards? I lol’d. No seriously, I lol’d. The fact that the Mega Man franchise itself is the most represented on the cards is also hilarious.

About Legends 3; Legends 3 was a reason to celebrate and I was looking forward to it. When that game got canceled, I among many people, got pissed. Mega Man fans learned a sad awful truth about the games industry that day.The only thing left is the Korean MMO that the casual Mega Man fan base doesn’t give a shit about. No literally, they don’t give a shit. All the casual base knows is from what they played as kids.

I wouldn’t say the hardcore Mega Man fans aren’t complaining as well.
Best way to complain though? Don’t buy the game.

I’m sure the no Mega Man/X turned off some customers(Myself included). However, it’s not the main reason, the main reasons are all posted on the first page to this thread.

Is phoenix relevant nowadays? She’s been dead for ages. This doesn’t mean shit, I think.

Phoenix isn’t really dead though;/

She has a built in loophole in the phoenix force explanation. All the phoenix shards just left the hosts recently and stated that when Jean “dies” she really doesn’t but just goes off to the Hot White Room and heals.

And Phoenix is relevant via Hope and blah blah blah…

Yeah, Jean’s shit is about as convoluted as Psylocke’s is.

At the end of the day it was far too soon for an update of this nature and Capcom went against their promises of game changes and new challengers being released via DLC. It’s no surprise to me that A) marketing and advertising was poor B) retailers weren’t pushing the game and C) people didn’t buy the game, and that’s without considering it’s release date. For us we’re going to buy the game anyway because that’s what we do, but to the thousands of casuals out there who literally JUST bought the game, they’re not going to fly out and hand over another $40 - $50 for a game they literally just paid for. To be honest the release of UMvC3 was even too soon for me, the game was only just taking shape and Capcom nerfed a whole bunch of shit that probably didn’t even need to be nerfed far too early into the game’s life. Personally they should have just stuck to their original marketing strategy as I feel it would have benefitted the game, the players AND Capcom a hell of a lot more than developing and releasing an all or nothing disc update less than a fiscal year later.

:u: I just read the first part of your post (no time now) but how did they not deliver new challengers through DLC and patches through DLC? Sentinel got nerfed and several glitches got fixed, Jill and Shuma DLC, that useless mode… something battle.

Yeah, so, you see, that doesn’t really matter, in the end. For example VJoe barely has a following nowadays. Clover being dead and all…

It just came down to how many new character they wanted, which characters marvel might have wanted in the spotL (I suspect strange), and how many they wanted to bring back from the other Marvel games.

That said, Venom (real venom, not this FPS bullshit) would be disgustingly sick in this game, and is like, the only character I really wanted in, that’s not already in.

But Angry Joe WAS right. What started off as a joke ended up not being a joke at all.

Lets just agree this game sucks ball and should probably not be at Evo after 2012.

You used Capcom as a description, this is Marvel.

They have different requirements.

And honestly I see Cyke being wanted and Flash Venom people like his character development.

How didn’t they? Because they released a new game on disc with all the content that was promised for DLC, characters, stages, costumes etc. Yeah they did trickle a couple of useless junk out, but everything that was originally promised for MvC3 was ultimately (pun intended) not delivered.

I feel like the general consensus, among players at least, is that Ultimate is a better game than Vanilla, and the majority of additions and tweaks were welcome. Releasing the game within a year of Vanilla, however, is a different story.

If the game is eventually considered a sales disappointment by Capcom, I think the culprits will be releasing the game less than a year after Vanilla, and releasing the game in a very packed holiday season, not the quality of Ultimate.

i think a lot of fanboys wanted their mvc2 characters back and didnt get them. A lot of people didnt like mvc3 as much as 2. Maybe its just fanboys are so used to mvc2 they wanted mvc3 just to be a update of 2

I think that most people wouldn’t have cared if it were Flash Venom, really. The main thing against Venom is that people would expect his old moveset, which requires a large amount of the modelswitching Capcom didn’t want to have to use.
