Not when the amount of profit generated from the movies far outweighs any profit Marvel receives from UMvC3.
Iron Fist, Strange, Rider, Hawkeye, Rocket are all appearing in movies.
Hawkeye a secondary Avenger? <_< Wrong. Hawkeye next to the big three is the quintessential Avenger. Go, research. Him, Pym, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, Quicksilver, Wasp, and She hulk were the most constant members with him at #1.
This game associates non comic readers with these chars before the movies happen. As well as hopefully getting people to buy there TPBs and comics.
Which several have already to learn more about the said chars.
They are doing the same thing they did with the vs series originally. Promotion.
Yeah i kinda see your point now. But still it is console we are talking about here, the problem with console pirating is you cant go back and forth between pirate and legit, because to have your ps3/Xbox pirated need it to be on a specifique old firmware, and once you update well…(of course they are downgrade available but not always, i remember some taking months to come out for the psp, and it is the same story for ps3). So i still believe pirates to be a very very very small part of the gaming community for those console.
For Wii (whose online is terribad in general) and of course PC, that is a different story of course.
So, being as piracy for ps3 and xbox360 stem for the console being pirated, i dont think that the game being a re-release play a major factor in it being pirated.
The problem here being, as the subject is piracy, we dont really have access to true numbers to make a case
It’s true, I can agree with this. It’s likely not a large number at all. I’d say perhaps 3~12k people are actively pirating the game. Not large by any means, but significant enough to play a factor in sales.
He’s an Avengers mainstay, but certainly not a major player in the sense of Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Spidey, or Wolverine are especially not in recent years outside of the Heroic Age. Though I feel neither Spider or Wolverine shouldn’t be on the team(s) anyway that’s a whole different discussion. I have nothing against Hawkeye or anyone new in Ultimate, but don’t give me non sense reasoning behind why ultimately more popular characters from a mainstream perspective can’t be in the game over shameless self promotion that will ultimately lead to nothing gained anyway.
When the Avengers movie sells an assload of tickets I really doubt Marvel is going to look back and go “Thank God we forced Hawkeye into UMvC3 or we would have been doomed!”…and then The Dark Knight Rises shits on them anyway >__>
It doesn’t just lead to nothing. That is where you are mistaken. I know SEVERAL people on this very website who have openly said that the introduction of Nova, X-23, Iron Fist had them go pick up there books and read them.
The game is used to get these chars exposure BEFORE the movies.
And before Bendis, Hawkeye was one of the MOST prominent Avengers. Bendis just can’t write team books worth a crap.
For this post I’d like to address a few things.

Which scene do you speak of? Texas scene not being helpful, really? In a casuals setting or a tournament setting? In a tournament, I’d be more focused on winning and my next matches than giving you tips unless I knew you well; such is the nature of competition. However, in casuals I’d be more than happy to say a couple of things to help you improve, especially if I see you’re underperforming. Not all of us are selfish pricks, I hope.

The Newbie Dojo. I’m a regular poster there and for the vast majority of things, we aren’t being anal about. There are things that we genuinely help on, and things that we couldn’t give a crap about because it’s already been answered. In the latter case, we try to direct you anyway. Please point me to derogatory comments placed by helpful, ‘non-trolling’ posters and I’ll report them to Starcade RIP. Or, you can do that yourself if you feel the need. There are a lot of trolls in the NSD and we try to keep them at a minimum. However, folks should also think about whether the posts have been answered or not by using stickies. I could give you the benefit of the doubt if you didn’t see it otherwise. But this is largely not the case.
You would be on the verge of exploding if you had to give the same advice each time on a subject that has signposts everywhere too. And ‘pros’ usually don’t post there at all. Just us average folk. However, I’m still very adamant that the new players shouldn’t be allowed to give advice until they’ve been around for a certain period of time, since such advice is often not entirely correct or poor advice that can lead to more confusion, and hence us looking more like angry mods than helpful voices. -
I’m getting the impression you’re receiving hatemail from online play. Well, for the most part… online players don’t care about the offline tournament scene anyway. They’re still pre-pubescent 12-year olds who can’t form proper sentences and need some e-peen because they’re hiding behind an online user alias. Why you would take such comments to heart is another thing, but do realise the context of this does not represent the community by far. I’m sure casuals will take it the wrong way and for the vast majority you ask, most will think that ‘online’ is the heart of fighting games, which again, as you know, it is not.
As someone new to this scene, I can tell you why i havent bought ultimate. Xfactor, and getting dominated online constantly (almost as bad as MvC2 online for xbox, god that was annoying). I have stuck to playing sfIV because even though im bad I still get some fun/wins online. If i had friends that played marvel id probably be more inclined to buy it too, but they are all hopped up on other games.
I know bitching about xfactor sounds really noob, but nothing makes me want to throw my controller more then getting dominated by it. I dont know if they were trying to make it a comeback mechanic, feels more like a get fucked harder mechanic.
I don’t quite know how arguably the best FPS of the last decade’s remake slips your mind, but okay.
Im pretty sure the majority of people know that you can pirate a game day 1 since a monkey can do it too…
Some people dont mind supporting developers for their hard work so we can continue seeing content in the future
Didnt read any of your prior posts if there were any so sorry if its out of context but just sayin nawmean?
I’m sorry but it pretty out of the context, they are post before and after this one.
And well the point i developed is that pirate are the minority for several reason ^^".
Fighting games aren’t really casual friendly. I don’t know why your blaming your local community for not helping you. It’s all on you. Do research, get your execution down, get in the lab, learn match ups and play. If you keep thinking you suck, you’re probably not going to put the work in to get better. Who cares if there is jerks out there, just do what you can to be a better player. If you settle for “average” than you shouldn’t complain and just play at that level.
You say “it’s the assholes in this community that ruined MVC3 for you…” How is that even possible? If you’re passionate about the game, you’ll just want to keep learning and getting better. You shouldn’t worry about negative things that aren’t related to your game. And if people ARE criticizing your game, maybe you should look in the mirror and see what you can do to improve.
The thing you’re failing to realize is that fighting games is a hardcore genre. You can’t expect to play with the big boys without a lot of training and experience.
So, stop blaming SRK and your local community, and start blaming yourself (hate to be blunt but so be it.)
^ Super flawed logic. If you aren’t having fun playing a GAME, why would you want to improve? The community and the players around you have a pivitol role in developing new players and the scene.
Unless you play at the absolutely highest level and you make money playing a game, there’s no excuse to not have fun while being competitive.
Real quick halo rage. They remade the best multiplayer game ever, without the multiplayer part.
Fun is subjective. Just because you’re not playing super casually, doesn’t mean you aren’t having fun. I hate people who say this. Some people have fun via competition. Just like Chess. Sure you may be playing serious matches, but it doesn’t mean you’re not having fun while doing it. I personally think casual play is less fun than tournament play. I don’t like casuals because people use dick around characters and teams. In tournament you know the guy is going to be serious, trying his best, and pulling out all the stops. That is fun and intense for me. I know some people don’t like it, but I just want to make people aware that casual play is not the epitome of fun in FGs.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is awesome.
Implications? - No more revisions, possibly. Which would rock. Hardcore. And it also means 10 more years till capcom makes MvC4 xD
It’s great that you have fun learning how to play. I don’t really care.
The issue at hand is that casual players do NOT have fun playing with strangers because they are dickholes. Which means that casual players will drop this terrible game and play something where people ARE friendly and they have fun while learning and playing.
But I guess you’re having too much fun beating down casuals to care.
The FGC is the second worst community in video games.
If you stop acting like a whiny retarded casual fuck, we’re actually nice people
And when I say you, I don’t mean YOU specifically. I mean whiny retarded casual fucks.
So are you saying people should sandbag matches for casual players so they won’t get their feelings hurt?
If they don’t want to level up their game at all, maybe fighters aren’t for them.
Look, this is lifted from his post:
“Basically I’m posting to say that as much as people blame the release time (which is very true), or the cast (cast seems cool to me), people won’t buy UMvC 3 b/c the MvC 3 community from a casual stand point is full of jerks. Yes, some of you guys are very helpful, and extremely fun to play with, but just go look at the Newbie Dojo to see things that some of you hardcore FG community players/members say to some of us casual guys. Mostly, its the assholes in this community that ruined MvC 3 for me, and it’s the same ones that unfortunately have kept me from spending more than 1 hour with UMvC 3 (just looked at costuems and colors).”
I never said to sandbag. He just wants people to be friendlier and more helpful to BEGINNERS. It’s not that he loses, he’s well aware he’s bad, but it doesn’t help that after he loses, people are dickholes. That type of dickish behaviour drives potential new players AWAY from the game. A shift in attitude would allow newer players to feel more welcome. Intsead of being jerks, start being mentors. Help foster their new found like of the game.
Difficult concepts, I know.
