Ultimate mvc3 iron man

Well from I’ve heard Magneto’s slower tri-jump actually IMPROVES his mixup game…we’ll just have to wait and see. The character got a lot of buffs, don’t count him out yet is all I’m saying.

how can you say anything positive about that current air dash as it currently is it speeds up but it dose look like that kicks in after he hits the floor

there are buffs but face it that air dash is a nerf

They nerfed his dash and took away his double jump? I really don’t understand all the mobility nerfs, its not like those things were broken in any way.
Unless his new flight combos are super gdlk he looks like hes gonna be worse in umvc3

I doubt he’ll be worse. I think the game will be more balanced overall which will make him better, he’s already got good zoning tools and still an 8 way. Not to mention hella range on some of his normals

The way I picture it is it will be like thor’s tri dash, it looks slow but it’s really fast and decieving. Iron Man will probably be able to use a heavy air attack to land instantly or use a light or medium for an overhead, along with the possibility of dashing forwards or df from an overhead like doom.

Doom’s dash looks slow as hell in mvc3 too and has a kind of pause towards the end of it, but notice how in his corner loops he can cancel his dash into a heavy and land fast, like how clock makes him look fast. That’s how I picture Iron Man’s dash will be too. At a glance it’s slow, but it can probably be cancelled into normals to make it land faster, or overhead.

heres what im seeing from IM’s new tridash… i could be competely wrong:

its ALOT slower so his offensive mixup game will kinda be nonexistent compared to its current incarnation… HOWEVER ot seems as if he will be able to control space with his tridash h much better… although it will be a more localized space… it will also be higher priority since he doesnt move as far forward… it seems as if he will make characters want to run away from him ala hagger pipe… but hes got a faster unibeam to answer to that now… so hes a midrange monster thats supposed to do a pseudo lockdown that is hard to get in on… atleast thats what im hoping. its actually one thing that i wanted from mvc3 ironman… more close range priority (cause i often got hit out of the beginning of my airdash if i didnt predict where my opponent would be correctly… basically he might now have a spammable high priority move). airdash down forward neutral h looks like it might stop EVERYTHING and be quite wiff spammable. the thing to see will be whether or not he still has his instant air dash down… if he does he will still have high low mixup… it will just have little range.

Iron man is worse…he is a complete zoning character now. unibeam is a lot better but he has absolultely no way to go on offense. tri jump will get you killed. tri jump b doesn’t even come out before he reaches the ground. I was really excited to play Iron man in MVC3…and was disappointed. was hoping UMVC3 would do him some justice…but after giving him some run on point i was disgusted and switched spencer back in. hopefully they give him something in a later build…but i think this is close to being the final build.

Something that I wanna see from Iron Man is them Remove Diagonal Proton Cannon and Give him an Air Only SUPER-Unibeam … :slight_smile: how does that sound? If they are gonna remove his Double jump I’d take this…

Diagonal proton cannon isn’t useless though… However, I suppose that some buffs to regular proton (which we appear to be getting), would render it irrelevant outside of certain DHC’s.

it always felt to me that the upwards proton cannon should be like taskmasters super l+m for standard and M+h for diagonal

I’m excited to see how this UMVC3 ironman plays. I mained him back in the MSH/MvC2 days and never liked how he felt in MvC3. I felt his airdash was too fast in MvC3 and the double jump just made him feel weird. Double jump is interesting, but just didn’t feel like ironman. Since they’re removing the double jump and making his dash slower, it sounds like capcom’s trying to make ironman feel more like his older versions. He never was that fast of a character.

That said, I really hope that capcom fixes some of the hitstun on some of his air normals. They just never felt like they caused enough hitstun. He also needs his old divekick put back in. Make it special cancelable, or even better, chainable like MSH :slight_smile:

Smartbombs being a DP motion is completely retarded too. Make it S+attack and slow the bombs down. They were good in the old games because they were so slow and took up a lot of space on screen for so long. It allowed ironman to combo or pressure after the smartbombs hit really easy.

Air normals cancelable to airdash is going to be great. :tup:

So long story short, learning to play MvC3 IM isn’t really gonna help you for the UMvC3 incarnation at this point in the game. Is there anything one can do to kinda get ready for the changes in a few months using what we got now? Not to sound too scrubbish, but I’ve been putting a lot of time into Tony Stark’s tech lately and hearing that a fair bit of it won’t be applicable come November time is a bit disheartening. Any suggestions?

learn some doom and magneto combos and you should be good

nobody knows what new combos there will be to learn , but since he can dash cancel just learn that then join back in November

If anything the new combos sound like they will be easier. If you can handle Tony now, there isn’t much in MvC3 that should give you problems.

Learn combos and be precise in your iron man combo inputs. Regardless of the game, a big issue for any tony players is to avoid pressing cr.:h: during combos. That way you won’t be raging if you accidently pressed it in umvc3 combos. Hope that helps.

It just occurred to me… the loss of the double jump means we lose the ability to easily confirm into a full combo off a max range jH. I don’t think the new air dash is gonna be able to replace that…That sucks.

You currently can do jH>dj>j2H>jS and confirm from a half screen hit. It gets silly hard to impossible if you try to land first (jH>land>j2H>jS). By max range jH… I mean max.

You mean dah knees? Yeah, I wanna see it back too. It could work kinda like Doom’s H “FWUTDAIV” but with the angle of the S “FWUTDAIV”. In the end, Ironman would be a Magneto/Doom hybrid.

Oh yeah you can cancel pretty damn early out of his air dash into normals, give or take you won’t move anywhere if you do it though.
