Ultimate mvc3 iron man

Just to clear things up a bit…

Firstly this isn’t about “haters gonna hate” thing. Just wasn’t as impressed big deal. We’re all here to put work into Tony so there’s really nothing to “hate”.

You have to have a solid sense of spacing to use Iron Man in general so I definitely saw that you had some solid spacing. I just feel that’s like a pre requisite for playing a character like Iron man any ways so I didn’t make too much of it. You wouldn’t be picking Iron Man unless you felt like you had a solid sense of spacing.

The other thing is that at least the matches that Dime linked were against opponents that didn’t really challenge your spacing. Like in the match with the Dormammu player with Wesker in the back. There really wasn’t much of a challenge to win the spacing game against him since all he really did was put random dark holes on the screen and didn’t really have any neutral assist. He could have been more creative spacing wise with Dorm but a lot of Dorm players are still mainly just random special move or assist + port based it seems. At least from the players I saw none of them were really challenging your spacing where I could really try to make a big deal about your spacing game. You had basic super jump j.H and ground repulsor blast zone + hidden missiles helps as auto footsies any way.

I’d like to see some more of your play against better opponents to make a better evaluation on stuff like that. I feel anyone who picked up Iron Man for a couple days would be able to zone the guys out that I saw you fight with Iron Man so that’s why I’m not really jumping the gun on it. Plus on top of lacking the hit confirms and pressure in situations where you could have easily put it together…that’s just how I ended up feeling how I feel. In Marvel it’s just too important to have hit confirms and continuous pressure down because as soon as you drop you give the opponent the incentive to win the spacing war and kill off your character. It’s something I’m still working on myself because all it takes is that random drop when you finally land something and then shit goes to bigger shit. Placing unibeam in the spots where you know krispy kreme won’t land is solid but I think more creative pressure could come about especially with certain types of assists.

Some of the top players that play in my area would have really given you a run for your money spacing wise and then it would be a bit more clear for me what you really have going on in the neutral. Against guys that barely challenged your spacing…I just wasn’t feeling it I guess. Just recently Unknown our local top Nemesis player was just running through the other top 8 on the Break Jersey players with his Nemesis alone. I feel like it takes a really strong sense of spacing to deal with Nemesis and it would be a lot more clear for me to see what you really got going with Iron Man against him than against some guy placing dark holes down with Dorm.

In my area in general the way we help people up is just to be honest about what we don’t like. It’s just an area thing (especially in the Baltimore area) to more so dwell on what you’re doing wrong because you can be doing a lot of things right and it only takes a couple things wrong to screw over everything that’s right especially in a game like Marvel 3. We just have a thing in our area for looking out for each other by pointing out what needs to be fixed rather than going on about what was great. What was great is great but it’s always what needs to be fixed that will bring you down faster. I just want to see the cleanest play possible from those I want to see win.

**I’m going to point out what I don’t like just as much as I will point out what I do like. **** I just personally saw more of things I didn’t like and it’s definitely a lot due to how I didn’t like what I saw from your opponents either. I felt like they were making it too easy for you to enact such spacing. **I usually emphasize more on what I don’t like when I can because that’s how you get to see more of what you do like any way.

In the end though I’m basically rooting for you as I will root for anyone who sees light in Iron Man. Even if it’s the faintest LOL. The more people we get working for Tony the faster he can become a character that we can make people respect instead of just another character on the screen. I’m probably the only person in this thread that thinks there’s really more to this character than people seem to wanna put out…but the only way we can find out is by going in together putting together new things with him.

Speaking of which, do you have a link to said Stream? I couldn’t find one in this thread.

I have it in the Iron Man mixtape thread.

Thanks a lot sir!

In order to really get a more feel of the brokenness that is unibeam I decided to pick up a very strong team that uses IM almost purely as an assist: Zero/Vergil/Ironman.
Also I was curious if anyone has had any success with Ironman/Sent, in particular I’m looking for a third. Now I’m running Doom because he has a strong corner carry, but I am getting blown up at the start of a round. I’ve been thinking about Nova/IM/Sent. Thoughts on chars good with the duo?

as ive said before if your getting blown up at the start of the round just back off. there really is nothing the opponent can do to you to directly punish you for backing up. then at start of round just superjump out of there or regular jump and air dash back while calling out an assist… basically theres all kinds of things you can do at te start of the round as long as you dont think your magneto and can hump people with jump os throw plus assist or mash grounded H…

Joker does well with Magneto/IM/Sent.

ShadyK and DiosX both swear by the Doom/Sentinel combo, so I imagine adding in Iron Man wouldn’t hurt things there too much. It’s just a matter of being more comfortable at the start of the round.

no doubt dude. ive never been a big fan of blast but seeing IM’s newest videos ive had to realize that i was just misinformed and being overjudgemental.

one thing i wanted to ask is whether or not you’ve experimented with superjump ADD S instead of D+H? the reason why i mention it is cause you used that pattern really well defensively basically as if it were a dp or something… but you wiffed it a couple of times when the opponent passed just underneath you… S however has a mvc3 stupid hitbox that hits behind IM unlike his D+H so i was wondering if that would be an overall better move to use in that situation… after all marvel 3 is all about derp hitboxes that hit shit that they shouldnt.

@dime
Yeah but if I just walk/jump back like I normally do when I start it seems like I end up getting cornered quickly. Guess I should sj at the start more.

@kjunk
Yeah joker is GDLK lol

@all
SOO ik I’ve asked this q before but IM/doom/sent or Doom/IM/Sent?

yeah, just mixup whether you fly or SB or ADDF (you’ll cross them up and move away from them) or ADD with a normal of some kind.

ive never generally had a problem with starting rounds with IM. i do die and get hit…but that happens with every character that i play at round start, mostly only when i take them on though… if i play to avoid usually i find match equality pretty quick.

i dont like either of those teams. the dhc synergy is off in both of them and you basically have 3 assist characters (thats what i like most about them) IM and doom can make good use of beams or sent but neither is really a top tier point character… i really feel as if doom needs to be in the second position or anchor so he can make use of his lvl3.

i think sent would be bad with plasma beam cause they can roll towards sent on hit. teams would be stronger overall if IM goes with repulsor or doom goes with missiles. but you stil have weak dhc synergy cause of dooms shitty dhc’s (he’ll leave them high in the air or he will finger laser for basically no damage and a really hard link into drones super from fullscreen.

however if sacrificing dhc synergy is worth it for you i’d say go for it since your team is so strong with spam and keepaway.

personally id swap out IM or doom for someone else like a pixie that way you have some rusdown and some keepaway instead of all zoners.

spencer/IM/sent or spencer/doom/sent imho

just an opinion dont let me stop you from playing who you want… those teams may be badass to the extreme.

IM, Sentinel, Doom is the best team to maximize IM’s point game. IM DHC into Hyper Sentinel Force is very damaging and you can add a Plasma Storm after as well.

IM with missile and drones spam is a very strong keep away, while Sentinel with missile and uni-beam is also very strong, although this team will lose very bad to Zero and Magneto, because their projectile will stop IM’s Replusor or Uni-beam plus missile and drones pressure.

I run missiles always when I use these chars btw.
Sigh… Sadly I just dont really like a lot of the “pixie” chars besides maybe viper if anyone considers her one, any other suggestions for chars? Spiderman seems cool.

if your going to run spidey make sure you put him in front of IM…other than that the 2 of them do some really good damage as they can both get full supers when dhc into and from one another and not alot of characters can say that. spidey spencer storm all have bridge dhc which have that rare combination of range, cinematic, so get full hits everytime and leave the opposing character close making dhc’ing out of them into ANYTHING a breeze.

Thanks for the suggestions and help guys, think I’ll sleep on it and maybe see what point chars I like I a couple of days.

Btw just got a perfect ocv with IM/Doom/Sent against a player who actually knew what he was doing. I’m telling you, IM in the corner with drones… Well let’s just say this game is over.

yo, I’ve pretty much been lurking for awhile on these forums. felt like i should post some of my matches on here.
I haven’t re-watched the stream yet, but the majority of the games are good here.

I’m the Spencer/Wesker/Ironman.

be kind.

posting in the video thread too

yo, I’m playing right now on. http://www.twitch.tv/bk4revenge
once again. be kind

Raining Tyrant is a godly player:)

I’m a fraud

Yeah i played against him awhile ago, his jill is really hard to predict, and his morrigan has sexy combos^^ Hard for ironman to stop their offense.
Her game is very horizontal though, so unibeam assist is quite good against jill.
Watching the stream, i really have doubts about IM being good anchor (at least against top tier teams), of course he deals monster damage (nice combos vizard btw) but its like 1 out of 10 times. Landing a clean hit even as XF3 is difficult without assist backup, and as anchor he is free against beam + teleport teams.
I wish someone proves me the opposite of course :wink:
Until then, i’m sticking to joker’s turtle playstyle. ^^

IM is awful without assist backing him up, I think all the top tiers own him for free if they are both without assists (although I think IM beats Doom, but he is only borderline top tier). Watching vizard struggling to land a random and drop the combo is painful. Where are you guy from in UK? Need to get some games in, hard to find people playing this game online or offline:(
