You really shouldn’t use it up close. It’s okay to use from midscreen or further with assist cover, but there’s so little acceleration from canceling it early that it’s not worth using up close. Trying using his air down dash instead, or poking at them in flight mode.

You still can :slight_smile: Just have to dash twice into Smart Bombs canceled into Proton Cannon.

so he has some Pseudo Doom tech… but it’s TECHNICALLY better than dooms… because if cancelling into flight Nullifies the pushblock, that means that Ironman is the only non-teleport char who can make forward progress vs pushblock without the help of assists.

can i ask what the timing is? this is easily better than Doom’s dash cancel normals… because unlike doom. Ironman can do his on whiff (not just on the active frames of the move). (does the flight cancel just leave Tony where he is? as in, c.l c.m (they pushblock) s.h (kara’d into fly)… do i still get sent back due to pushblock or do I hover wheever i am the moment they pushblock?

hmm. from a grounded Fly… i just need to rise just a bit to be able to air dash… i can call assists… i can unfly

is Ironman the ONLY char that can do this… or is it every flight-mode char?

It’s every flight mode character. He just happens to have one of the fastest flight modes which makes it far safer then doing it with someone like Storm or Doom.

Any character with flight can do this and any “moving” move (air dash or otherwise) can negate pushblock. Iron Man is not special in this regard. And the timing to do this is actually quite tight. That’s the same reason why Doom’s dash canceled normals are great on paper, but no one has managed to implement them in a match.

That an Doom’s ground dash is even worse than IM’s (I am aware that you can JC Doom’s ground dash for shenanigans, but so can IM).

IM simply has no way of making the other character respect him.

the flight cancels to negate pushblock are totally theory fighter at this stage of the game… the problem is that an opponent can pushblock with varying timings (which will vary depending on how fast / slow the opponent reacts to being in blockstun) and the flight cancel has to be timed VERY tight to the pushblock… put the 2 together and flight cancels arent seen to negate pushblock much at all… they are super rare and usually the player attempting one doesnt even react to it being succesful since they are such a shot in the dark.

but like i say to anything i dont particularly believe/ cant put into my game for whatever reason… if you can make it work for you consistently dont listen to me!

It’s not something you specifically shoot for IMO. It’s something that just happens occasionally as a result of flying off a normal they’re likely to pushblock.

The downside to missing the timing in that example is that you get pushed out and are still at a hefty frame advantage. The upside is they get unblockabled.

I did it a lot by accident but when actually trying I got it about 30% of the time n since I didn’t really care if tony died , this caught a lot if people off guard

It still works you just have to cancel into it immediately. You don’t have as much time to cancel it as you did in the original.

??? What’s wrong with the bombs? If anything, they’re buffed.

It’s so ironic, everything about him got buffed… but the one thing they nerfed still made him worse than before.

My idea for fixing character’s air dash would be: if your air dash isn’t super fast like Magneto or Nova, you can block during it. So Iron Man would be able to block during his weird ass parabolic air dash, and so would Morrigan. I think Capcom wanted to take his air dash and make it something unique, and maybe closer to Marvel 2, but they seriously botched it in the process.

If there ever is a balance patch I think IM’s air dash either needs to be A: faster or B: he needs to be able to block during it. Oh and C, just give him back his old air dash.

His launcher also needs to be fixed.

If you fly before air dashing (for whatever reason) you can manually flight cancel the air dash into a block. It’s important if you spot a certain super or assist, such as Hyper Sentinel Force, Okami Shuffle or an assist like RR’s Log Trap.

Since so much of his neutral game is spent flying and unflying, I feel like he has that added element of safety that others don’t. Like all things IM, it just takes more work.

Play him on anchor and gimmick people out with repulsar blast and full screen air dash shenanigans, at least that’s what I’ve found to work best.

If you start playing against characters that can stall well like Firebrands, Zeros, hell even Spencers, you will notice how unreliable Iron man can be as an anchor.

Yep agreed. It is no fun chasing people down with his new airdash… better to avoid that situation entirely by playing him on point or second so you either a) have a lead and don’t have to chase people or b) have assists to help you hold them down.

He’s pretty much solely on my team because I like him and I find him to be one of if not the best assist for Spencer. He’s pretty unreliable as an anchor I agree, but hes just as bad on point and gets pretty good x factor stats if you still have it. He’s not a solid character at all and to win your going to have to hit them with stupid shit like repulsar blast.

is there ANY use to M smart bombs?
i swear… on the ground the difference is damage vs speed… compared to L version (frame advantage is the same on hit and on block)
in the air… it’s worse by one frame

so… if you want speed… go for L
else use H… which does more damage… and give more frame advantage…

unless there is something i’m not seeing?
