Ultimate mvc3 iron man

I haven’t really had any training mode time yet, so I was just flying by the seat of my pants. My impressions will probably change.

Were you able to land Smart -> Proton midscreen? I’ve been trying that combo, but his new dash is too slow to catch them for the OTG unless they land in the corner, it seems…

Sometimes when I do it smartbombs hit and the super doesn’t, other times it works so I dunno.

Stark seems to still have the same problems he had in Vanilla, his mobility is obviously ass, has terrible mix-ups/resets and gets opened up way too easily. At first his changes seemed it would result into something positive but it just seems they replaced his double jump with air-dash cancels. I’m really hoping some new tech comes up soon enough cause this shit has me in the dumps about a competitively viable Iron Man.

Also, were you able to get the combo to work on normal sized characters? I could only get it to work on bigs. I would just path right underneath after the first rep.

Keep in mind that Smart Bombs recovers much faster, so maybe that’s been the difference.

What the hell? First off, we have no idea how this character (or this game) is even supposed to play yet, so there’s no point in speculating on neo-Iron Man’s “problems”. Second, if you thought Vanilla Iron Man’s mobility was “ass”, drop this character now, because it doesn’t get an better for you from here. Thirdly, how is getting opened up easily on defense any character’s fault? This isn’t Street Fighter 4 where you get to mash reversals during pressure.

Vanilla Iron Man was THE most slept on vanilla character IMO. If he had any “problem” it was that his was assist was too damn good, so no one ever learned to play him proper. You don’t learn to play a character well having them third on your team all the time - an execution intensive character like Iron Man, especially.

Really, the main thing that’s keeping me in the lab with him right now is the possibility that people are gonna sleep on him even harder this time.

First and foremost, for me when it comes to character loyalty there’s nothing worse than dropping a character for the sake of finding a better; I simply play Iron Man because I want to. On that incentive, I will still say Iron Man was terrible, he definitely had some of the most execution-heavy combos but still he’s an inadequate character when it comes to being effective or being slept for that matter. On the subject of him being opened up, he has no legitimate anti-air in the case (which is critical for being a good character, clearly) where if Repulsor (and the Spread follow-up) misses, whiffs or gets blocked he’s still open. However, his mobility is (and was) " “ass”."

I will admit it was definitely premature of me to say being that it’s day one but I have never come to the assumption that there wasn’t anything to be found. Also, it offends me as much as it offends you, from what I can clearly tell, to see Iron Man get shat on.

i dont really know if vanilla ironman was “slept on” alot of people tried him out and alot of people have good knowledge of what he does/how he plays… it isnt like jill/shuma/arthur/morrigan.

ironman appeals to the masses for his design alone. which is why he WAS explored.

that having been said he MAY have been slightly slept on but thats only via undiscovered technology… which to this day hasnt come to light… whether that undiscovered tech is an all encompassing strategy like super fei to ae fei, or its newly discovered tactics… it has yet to be discovered.

everything we know about IM puts him at mid at best. he simply didnt have the cheap spammable hitboxes of the rest of the top tier and his damage was mediocre even with top notch execution unless your using lvl3 or XF.

however now with the changes to some of the cast plus a few buffs here and there he may be a better character overall. he looks to dominate midrange perhaps a bit better, or atleast do better at midrange which is where his vanilla design was pointing him towards.

Iron Man wasn’t slept on, he was just underrated. In Vanilla, he was hopelessly linear and predictable. While he may have been underrated, its not like people were looking at him and missing the picture ala Viper.

My day 1 ghetto Iron Maneto combo (carries about half screen and can only get the finish near the corner):

c.M > s.H > S > sj.MMH~d+H > fly > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H,S > Smart Bombs > Proton Cannon.

Gets about 680 > 700k give or take (depends on mashing and on what you start the combo with). Builds just over 1 meter. I can’t be the only one who thought of doing this so I’m not even going to bother claiming it. I might have even missed it on this page somewhere.

Did yall see the Shady K combo from the front page vids? It did 700k+ and it looked so simple. Dam IM packs a punch.

I found a combo for Stark not sure if useful to any of you guys:

Cr.:l:, Cr.:m:, :s:, Sj.:h: xxFly Sj.:l:, Sj.:m:, Sj.:d::h:, ADDF, Sj.:h: xxUnfly Sj.:h:, J.:m:, J.:h:, J.:s: dash :l: smart bomb xxProton Cannon

Does around 603,100 or 640,100 with mashing damage without assists. Tested it on X-23, so I assume it works on most of the cast.

I’m not sure if you can relaunch but it looks like you can.

Tell me anything to get more damage out of this.

edit: Scratch that you can relaunch but only in corner. And if you omit the some of the :l:s you can get at least 690,000-ish in damage

(this one): c.M > s.H > S > sj.MMH~d+H > fly > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H,S > Smart Bombs > Proton Cannon.

With Eye of Agamotto assist change it to:

j.M (or whatever combo opener) > s.M > c.M > s.H > S > sj.MMH~d+H > fly > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H xx ADF > MH~d+H,S > Call Strange > H-Smart Bombs > H-Repulsor Blast~Spread > dash forward > L-Smart Bombs > Proton Cannon.

Does 802.5k with my bad mashing and builds 1.5 meters (0.5 meter positive).

Add 115k for a DHC to Spell of Vishanti.

Btw, that new standing M is godlike.

Didn’t really read the thread so excuse me if this has been said, but you can actually immediately cancel his back airdash into normals unlike all the other directions so he effectively has one of the fastest “tri-jumps” in the game. The mixups between airdash straight down into cr.:m:/cr.:l: and airdash back into :m:x2/:d:+:h: is retarded fast. You can also cancel into flight on block for further mixups and to negate pushblock if you time it right. The only problem is, you need to be relatively close to land this and get a followup.

I have a few combos I’ll put to video tomorrow. I don’t think they’ve been mentioned yet, but they get well over 800k with assists.

I think I have the optimal Krispy Kreme combo down for ultimate:

The good thing is that it works on the max range of cr. M.

I haven’t got alot of time to play with training mode yet, but might leaving out regular jump part of the combo in favor of Launch>Fly>Dash loops do more damage?

If you start the combo really close, then yes you can just relaunch into a flight combo. You have to be really close, though. The combo I’m mentioning works in the max cr.M range, so it’s much more reliable.

okies, I finished my iron man combo its easily 700k+ and thats from c.A starter. It also builds a bar and a third or so.

I feel sorry for iron man users. His mobility is like worse than Thor in this game, easily the worse 8 way air dash in the game.
