Ultimate mvc3 iron man

Didn’t realize Johnny was that good. Haven’t paid much attention to him (like his comics, go figure). But it would make sense for him to be good, just thought he wasn’t viable due to his speed.

Are they going to give us knee dive, because that could help with Iron man pressure, especially with push blocking in this game, and his dash cancels. If not, then a command/special attack overhead, since Tony’s tridash is nerfed for what seems to be overall better flight and flight cancels.

Putting this here because I didn’t see it here already (from Neogaf):

Iron Man

  • Iron Mans UniBeam is faster and recovers faster, spammable while on the ground. Both as an assist and as a point character. In the air, his beams most notably his L Unibeam is pretty much the same speed as before

  • Ground dash moves him at least 1/2 screen across. Before it moved him about 1/3rd distance. Possibly Iron Man can do a proper wave dash now.

  • Repulsor Blast/Spread activate faster. Upon hit Repulsor Spread causes a hard knockdown and it can be followed up afterward with Smart Bomb -> Proton Cannon

  • Iron Man can now cancel his normals into dashes in the air like Magneto allowing him to perform new flight/dash cancel combos

  • Even faster flight cancel

  • Iron Man’s cr.H is now SPECIAL CANCELLABLE. Can even be canceled into flight mode. Iron Man can also now chain cr.H into launcher making his ground series much easier to executure

  • Proton Cannon hyper can be mashed for more damage/hits

  • Triangle jump/air dash mechanics reworked. Seem to have different trajectories and acceleration. Possibly different types of dashes. In any case most players seem to agree that Iron Man’s tri-jump game has been significantly nerfed because of this change due to the general speed of it is greatly reduced.

  • Removal of double jump

Read those, I feel Tony will be a more ground based character, improved ground dash, and dash cancellable normals. He might just need assists to cover him is all. But I feel his ground game is giving him a better more unique offensive feel to it. I don’t think we have to worry about being able to rtsd with Tony anymore, especially we can you flight cancels for overheads. He’s looking really interesting now in my opinion. I was worried about him only having a zoning game. But this put my fears to rest.

I just wanna know if he’ll be anchor worthy though.

I think his new mobility will make or break him

all the buffs are nice , but if he don’t move right , I’ll be put off

I’m very excited to play with the new 2C stuff. That move was already very solid, and now it might be straight up amazing.

It being able to cancel into launcher just gives greater input leniency on Tony’s combos. I like this buff a lot, missile is going to be very useful, now if only it didn’t fire at an angle anymore…

I’m thinking about the flight Cancel.

Use it for combos, or just a quick Fly/Unfly for even more ridiculous frame advantage.

Man, Ironman has such a tiny airgrab reach. Do you all think he should get that buffed a bit?

Why are you asking the IM community if they think that IM should be buffed? :wgrin:
Kidding aside, with the universal air throw nerf in UMvC3 I think that’s not really a pressing need.
I agree that IM looks better than expected, though.

missile+assist xx faster repulsor spread… might be a good zoning strat.

one funny thing i found out about IM + akuma assist is that IM can confirm tatsu into missile then dash up and air combo… perhaps making tatsu good for IM in vanilla?? LOL, someone get ont that… quicks let us know whats good.

Anyone feel that Iron Avenger needs a speed buff, activates in under 5 frames personally like other level 3’s?

I think the distance relate to how fast the start up is

Iron Avenger starts up in 10 frames if memory serves. This makes it one of the very fasted hypers in the game. The only ones that I can come up with that are faster off the top of my head are:
1)Doom Time
2)Tron Hyper Grab
3)Raging Demon (point Blank)
4)Proton Gun (Burst)

Viper full throttle
Shin Shoryuken
Mighty Punish (but it sucks, because it only gets invincibility on the 4th frame)
I wouldn’t be surprised if Haggar’s level 3 was faster at point blank as well.

But you get my point, I feel a level 3 like Stark’s especially since he has no reversal should have a level 3 that activates in under 10 frames.

Well, it’s still plenty fast enough to stuff anything your trying to stuff.

Also, it is the most damaging lvl3 tied with Magneto. Any Iron Avenger hit leads to a minimum of about 800k on most all characters.

Captain America’s Final does 10k more. Iron Avenger is above average, Shun Goku Sastu does the most among level 3’s. Also if I remember correctly Gravity Squeeze does 400k no? Making it the least damaging among level 3’s.

Both Iron Avenger and Gravity Squeeze you can do a full air combo aferwards. In both cases it builds enough bar to do another super. This is how the double avenger combo works, though that requires you to start with 5 bars.

Although i do think iron avenger is top 5 best lv3 hyper but, iron man is just a pain to play correctly but the reward on a team is great and will be much better in Umvc3

Anyone going to NYCC, could you test out how unsafe his launcher is still. I would like to know if it’s still ass like vanilla.

And checkout if Tony get any new moves.

i played a little iron man today…his air dash is super slow…and you can cancel his low h into launcher so no more screwing up a combo because you got missile. im not really an iron man expert though i was just using him as an assist for haggar.
