It isn’t a issue, it is bad execution on the players part.
Dante doesn’t have any overlapping moves technically. He has no HCF and HCB motions, and plenty of QCF and QCB specials.
In fact, ANYONE that has either a QCF or a QCB special does not have a HCF or HCB special, respectively, and vice versa. This is not a coincidence, because this setup means that no overlapping can exist at all, even with the button layout that MvC3 uses.
It is funny you brought up Dante though, because his moveset is a great example of what Capcom was reduced to doing in order to prevent any overlapping inputs while still giving Dante his oodles of moves: double inputs.
What? How is gamma charge unstuffable? Anyone with a projectile stops him from getting anywhere near them.
I mean really, we’re going to complain about Hulk getting a much needed buff? He’s not a good character. Yes he has some really strong hits with superarmor, but barely any mixups and has a hard as hell time getting in, especially since his lack of mixups makes guarding him, and therefore pushing him out with advancing guard really easy (Unless they cancel into the charge).
The Cap one still isn’t confirmed is it? I have only heard rumors. If they gave Cap an OTG on top of all the other buffs, he is going up like no other.
For real.
I really hope Capcom checks out this thread.
Not true.
I actually like the new character select screen a lot. I like the new character’s icons, their expression is way more emotive than the simple portraits in vMVC3. The end of the battle screen I find it better than the last one also. But that’s just me.
But, the HUD looks horrendous.
RE: cut out charging in MvC3
silly question but… why not just cut the charge time to 40-45 frames, and add KI style reversible charge inputs. If it’s still a big deal give the projectiles med priority so they beat most counterparts, and AA 30 frames on ground and less in the air.
It’s ok to admit you are bad at input.
Really, with all the shit anime games get on these forums, but they have vastly more execution than anything that has to deal with street fighter and they only use 4 buttons…
Too much shit too go through, what the hell is going on?
Uhhh… maybe I’m missing something, but charge motions don’t hinder or slow down a game.
Apparently nobody has seen May from Guilty Gear and her Dolphin Loops. Or Venom (from GG) with Stinger Aim pressure. All issues with charging moves is instantly moot with charge buffering.
I mean, seriously. Is buffering /:db: while throwing out a Gamma Wave or :d: while doing a Shuma Air combo so you can OTG Mystic Ray really so bad? C’mon now.
Charges are faster in Guilty gear than in MvC3. Even buffering.
Even so, buffering makes any charge move managable; you can pretty much buffer whenever. During attacks, blocking, jumping forward… I could see if the existing charge moves in Marvel 3 were like, 2 or 5 seconds or something, but it’s just 1 second (iirc). Really not bad at all.
Charging in MvC3 takes 1.5 seconds to fully get off. That is a TON of time to get pressured. The only time charging is worth while with Hulk is during A) falling corner combo into gamma wave or B) you have FULL SCREEN ADVANTAGE.
Play Hulk, and learn why charging is terrible. It’s nothing like Guilty Gear, where charging was more responsive.
charge characters are ass and get worse once the game gets progressively faster
Ehh, there are worse things going on than charge moves. I mean, Gamma Wave is best full screen anyways, isn’t it? Just by the way the move works. The :h: version eats up Doom’s Plasma Beam, and by the time those two are gone you can fire another one off.
In a game this fast, charge moves are ass. No if’s or buts, you have to hold the charge for way too long. Cut the time in half and then you have an argument, but 1.5 seconds in MvC3 is too long.
edit: Think of it this way, how many of the top tiers have charge moves?
It’s also stupid obvious.
"Hmm, why is Hulk all the way at the other side holding down back?"
Point: Get rid of charge moves in versus games. Won’t happen, but it should.
Alright, then cut down the charge times, problem solved.
Hulk’s projectile is incredibly strong, so it’s hard to balance, the problem is he sort of needs it. I wouldn’t mind a version that clashed with -All normal projectiles- if it was DPBack.
" … it’s an unannounced character that resembles a pre-existing character"
Rocket Raccoon as Cable confirmed?
" because that’s what they (fans) most probably want, so Megaman X"
Yes.
