We can make a movement! NO MORE CHARGE MOVES IN MVC!!! please?
It’s already split that way in MvC3.
One thing I’d like to see is “Take You For A Ride” playing on the versus character select screen instead of just the single player screen.

looks like they changed it, because the original one had sent and wesker on opposite sides and Hsien ko completely blocked by the rating tag.

Every character select screen separated the marvel and capcom sides. I agree, change the faces and the selected character windows, the cards are freaking ugly to me.

You can blame the button layout for why a lot of moves are charge motions, especially for moves that were never charge moves before (Sand Splash, Gamma Wave, etc.). I’m not trying to reignite the whole debate about MvC3’s button layout, but we would not be having this problem if we were using punches and kicks, because that would completely eliminate any and all problems that could arise from overlapping inputs.
For examples, let’s look at Hulk’s specials, minus Gamma Wave:
Gamma Charge: QCF + Atk
Gamma Charge (anti-air): DP + Atk
Gamma Toss: HCB + Atk
At this point, there are VERY few inputs that can be used for Gamma Wave without overlapping another special. The only inputs that remain for Gamma Wave would be either
RDP + Atk
Atk + S,
QCF + S (coming at the direct expense of losing different variations of a special)
or a charge motion.
I completely agree that charge moves have no place at all in Vs. games. It is very easy to lose your charge to getting crossed up or someone decides to teleport behind you for example. Holding down back is something you don’t want to be doing in Marvel. That being said, I wish Capcom picked more intuitive inputs for a lot of moves, and that includes charge moves. I would have rather seen Tron’s drill be Atk + S instead of being a RDP motion given that it’s a charging melee attack, and other charging melee attacks also have Atk + S motions in the game (such as Spencer’s zip line, Storm’s Lightning Attack, MODOK’s Battering Ram).
QCF, QCB, DPF, DPB, HCB, HCF.
Assuming each button does a different special, that is 4 specials per button. There is plenty of room on Hulk’s move list for a non-charge Gamma wave.
And if I remember right, Gamma Wave was charge in MvC2.
i must be the only person alive that absolutely hates the guy that did the umvc3 poster’s art style.
QCF and HCF have overlapping issues, which is exactly what I was trying to get at. Same goes for QCB and HCB.
Gamma Charge was actually Hulk’s charge move in MvC2. There’s a reason why the move is called Gamma CHARGE
Everyone saying 'charge moves can’t work in a fast paced fighter" has never played TvC.
there are plenty of charge moves in TvC, most of them on top tier characters, and did we complain about it? NO! Karas still kicked everyone’s ass in CGOH and Tekkaman Blade kicked everyone’s ass in UAS.

Apparently Dante players have no problem with ‘overlapping’, I have no problem shelling out half circles. 6 buttons isn’t going to magically change how anything works in this game. People will use the same 4 attacks that have priority/reach over the other 2.

If overlapping motions are really the issue, then making more moves motion + Atk + S would probably solve the problem?
