Ultimate jill 2.0 video thread

My first semi-legitimate tournament attendance. It’s so easy to get people excited with Jill, even if you’re sucking
Shoutout to Double Tap Games for their fun-ass stream, event, and great venue. Check out the stream here: http://www.twitch.tv/final_bout/b/345378178 (UMvC3 starts at 26:30)

I totally played like crap; they busted me on my wireless controller and were awesome enough to let me use one of their own corded ones, but I wasn’t used to it and kept flubbing inputs which is why you keep seeing me jump for no reason. Worse yet, the only other available setup did not have any of the DLC, so I couldn’t play any warm-up matches beforehand which I need in order to perform at all. It should not have been a legal setup. I’m also still green with Strider and running out of excuses for sucking.

Losing to WindZero was humiliating. He’s not really good, but he has teams with a lot of extremely lame stuff that he takes absolute full advantage of that no one knows how to counteract. It’s so not fun to play against, yet hilarious in retrospect. I swear he’s on a mission to get everyone to quit this game. Time to go to training mode and learn to combat this nonsense.

Yeah, unfortunately Wireless controllers are usually prohibited from tournaments and the like. It’s a hassle. That being said…

DID I SEE Jill/FRANK/STRIDER?! I’m really proud of you, you did great. Finally a Jill player playing her utilizing her tools! Some stuff, that made me jump for joy

  1. USING REAL JILL BNBS. Yeahdood should be proud!
  2. Movement, Finally someone whose moving around w/ Jill like your supposed to.
  3. Somersault hitconfirms and somersaulting often; loved it. Truly how she’s supposed to be played.
  4. With Frank you were utilizing his charge zombies really well.
5)I saw some resets with Frank’s shopping cart. Great stuff!
6)The double snap with Frank and strider; nice utilization of it.
  5. Against the morrigan player, you were really aggressive and oppressive. THANK YOU.

Some stuff I noticed:

  1. When you seemed to drop a combo, it seemed to be the end of you. Instead, when you drop a combo, turn it into a reset w/ Jill. Keep her ambigious and oppressive
  2. Strider needs some work.
  3. You had many opportunities to kill of Haggar when you vsed WindZero with Jill OR Frank. One glaring example was when you let him j.pipe instead of Anti-airing him with Jill or Frank.
  4. Don’t be scared of modok. Rush him down with Frank’s shopping cart; if he puts a shield up and is close, somersault him or use an assist to force him to block and maintain pressure.
  5. Utilize Frank and Strider’s assist in the right time/area and utilize them more
  6. One thing I realized about this team is Try to make getting frank to 4 a priority. After your first hitconfirm go for a jump loop combo or a combo that garauntees you level 4 frank. Then start utilizing real BNBS.
7)Make your welcome mixups dangerous! If you have jill on point, you second character shouldn’t be able to come in freely.
  7. With frank, keep grinding out your Charged zombies and utilize them. Start CPing them more often.
  8. With Frank; try to use his c.M often, it’s hitbox is really good and it’s safer then his slide. I noticed you were going for zombie swings at odd moments; make sure you find the right moment to go for it.
  9. If your not DHCing with Frank into strider; after snapping two pics go for blue light special and resets with zombies/barrel roll or just barrel roll afterward. It maintains pressure easier and faster.
11)Good movement, I noticed that when you weren’t in feral crouch you were normally dashing. Try Feral dashing backwords one instead then canceling that into a plink dash. It’s faster and moves you around easier.

In conclusion,

THANK YOU. It made me smile realizing that youve been listening, absorbing, and applying all the information all we Jill players have gathered.

<333333333
Most of the caca stuff you noticed is not a usual thing. I need warmup matches, and their supplied controller (which I was still grateful for) kept making me miss junk. My biggest regret, I think, is not having a BNB prepared for every confirm, leading to nasty drops. I’ll be grinding that out in the coming days.

Strider needs a lot of work, though, for sure.
Leveling Frank is something I’ve been meaning to make a priority, but all of my time in training mode has been spent learning and discovering with Jill lately; haven’t gotten leveling back into reflex yet.
#10 is a sweet tip I never considered, actually. I’ll definitely have to look into that.
#11, gah, my movement looked so stupid that day. “I’m gonna FD behind you and then just walk forwards, durrr.” No warm-up matches make me dumb.

It’s ok, my strider is pretty fraudulent too. I don’t understand how to move w/ this character either. lol

Wow, man. You did great! Thanks for sharing a tournament footage with Jill. We all know that it’s almost a miracle seeing her in championships.
I really loved some of your BNBs; they seem to cause a lot of damage. But I think Frank was your best char in these matches. You’re really solid. I liked the double photograph with Vjara. ^^ But there was a moment when Modok was flying and you didin’t Vjara him or used Oroboros! And you have to improve a little bit your execution with Jill and Strider.

You know, I’m not a fan of this team’s synergy. Frank is OK with his shopping cart, but not pretty good as others lockdown and projectile assist. Sentinel Force (Sentinel), Hidden Missiles (Doom), Cold Star (Ammy), Triple Arrow (Hawkeye), Splitfire Twice (Raccoon), Machine Gun (Chris) and Weasel Shot (Dante) are better assists, in my opinion. Besides, you have to worry about Frank’s levels. Vajra guarantees an anti-air, but you cannot convert its hit into a combo (at least not so easy). Jam Sessiom I think it’s perfect because it’s an antiair and a great lockdown.

But I’m not antipathy with you, man! I really appreciate the effort you and SexualRice make into this team. Now, I’m using Orbital Grudge (Skrull); it’s not perfect but has some lockdown and a great defense for Hawkeye because of its armor. And hitconfirms are easy too.

In the end, it’s awesome watching some guys pulling a great effort on the characters they like, so you and NonSexual have my respect.

By the way, I loved watching your face. LOL
And keep up the pace, man! I’m a fan.

@Paulow3b

Finally using Orbital? I was fooling around w/ it and Jill a couple days ago and really liked it, but I felt that the synergy between Skrull and jill was just meh and I’m no where near a Skrull main like you.
In your opinion, how is Orbital Grudge w/Jill? I’m quite interested in Skrull as of late.

Yeah, finally! I was testing Tenderizer first, but I didn’t like it so much because it only cover standing or jumping chars. ¬¬ Basically, it’s usefull only for entrance mixups. In neutral game, you have to feral dash through the enemy to properly use it, but Skrull stays on the screen for like 65116161 seconds and is an easy prey. LOL

O. Grudge is faster, doesn’t push the enemy to the other side of the screen, has armor (great defense) and allows Jill to some mixups. I don’t see yet how it can extend combos. I prefer using it for mixups and resets.

Ah, recently I think I discovered a great stuff with Jill: a semi-unblockable. Gonna record some uses and share the video here soon. ^^

PS: Sorry for my poor English. I’m trying to get better writing and speaking.

Thanks much for the positive reinforcement, Paulo <333 It means a lot coming from you! Even if I was having a really bad day that day XD So many factors were playing against me that made me look pretty bad compared to when I’m in my element.

My old team actually had Arthur with Daggers, which was incredible for Jill. Unfortunately, it meant having to use Arthur o_O He’s so bad.
Frank’s cart works really well, you just have to go fishing for the right situations. Vajra is also really great because its hard knockdown as an anti-air sets up for a mixup, which Jill is really good at capitalizing on.
I actually just kept Frank because he was my main before picking up Jill, and they just worked really well together. There are, admittedly, much better choices, but I just love and know how to use Frank.

I’m excited to see your team’s progress with the new assist change. I think Orbital Grudge is the best Skrull has to offer for Jill and I can’t wait to see you conquer.

Hey, your English is awesome. Reading you loud and clear

You’re right. Hard knockdown is great for Jill. ^^ And Vajra’s so good with Skrull and Hawkeye…

Keep going, pal! If that was not a great day for you, I’m really scared of what I’ll see when you are 100%.

See ya!

I actually forgot to mention that Vajra is also very easy to put into Jill’s combos to tack on a healthy chunk of extra damage. I stole that one watching NSR play online. Call it moments before a launcher, then Cartwheel, and TK it if you feel so inclined. The Cartwheel will catch them on the way down, resulting in two extra powerful hits that would not have otherwise been there. It’s great.

lol Paulo your english is better than mine

I think you could use Orbital Grudge to get the tri- Bounce for your bnb actually. It would be a bit more execution taxing then setting it up w/ tenderizer; but I believe it’s possible.

I was going to have some more tournament footage for everyone tonight, but I have a funny story instead.

SF4 was the focal event of the day because some prestigious Japanese player named Gamer Bee was in town and playing in the local tournament after a nearby national he attended, so the one PS3 with UMvC3 DLC was occupied by SF4 for the stream. They called my match first, but suddenly realized their folly, acting quickly to remedy the problem by immediately attempting to download both DLC characters on the other console running the game and setting my match temporarily aside.

The PS3 was unprepared, for they first had to download a 28MB update for PSN to access the PlayStation Store to purchase the characters. It did not take long for the bandwidth to take its toll on the stream. Gamer Bee’s big matches were lagging on the stream because of the massive download, pissing off the audience at home, and forcing a pause of the matches so they could finish the PlayStation Store download.

Everybody was abuzz with impatience, frustration and anxiety; all of which were augmented by the fact that the characters simply would not download. They first needed to use someone’s PSN account to access the store, which apparently did not work, so they made a new one instead. Not the swiftest process. They then needed the funds necessary to purchase the DLC, but the two credit cards they tried did not work. One had been overcharged with purchases earlier in the day, and the other remained unexplained. In an act of desperation, one man stepped forth and volunteered his PSN account complete with both characters as readily available DLC. No one foresaw the next complication, being that he had already used his account to share such content with five other PS3’s, making the transaction impossible.

As all of their valiant efforts failed, one offer still stood, being the 360 that had the DLC. Without a converter box, though, my PS1 controller wired through a USB cable would not be compatible; and I refused to use a 360 controller, especially after my coincidental run-in with one trying to play the same game earlier in the day.

In the end, I withdrew from the tournament completely refunded, and was promised that all consoles have DLC by next week. That nice man who had offered his account also straight up gave me his converter box because he said he plays on a stick now and no longer needed it. The moral of the story is to make sure all consoles set up at a tournament have DLC, or else you will have a swarm of unhappy patrons and a laggy stream.

LoL, that is a hilarious story. Gamerbee is from Taiwan though, but small details aside.

I went to the SD FGC gathering this past Monday wanting to play Jill and level her up. I want to make her my main team, but alas, people don’t want to give DLC characters a try. They were streaming SF4 for this week’s tournament, so it was no big deal, there were still Marvel stations open. NONE of the casual stations had any DLC characters, and the only one that did, was the stream station. So I had to go back to Kusoru team and prey upon people’s inexperience with small characters. / H8H8H8

When I used go to the sessions at FG@UCI, every station had Jill / Shuma. Not to mention the calibur of the players there. shamelessplugofthevastlysuperiorweeklygathering xD But I’ve moved to SD, so the only way I get to play Jill is online cry

lol what an awesome story. jill you stubborn DLC bitch.

i <3 u

Sounds exactly like my situation. No fun allowed. You could never get away with this in SFxT.

Gangie, are you on PSN? If so we should do some matches… dood!

I am, but online is never kind to me. I’d be willing to at least try, though.
PSN: Judah123

I’m on right now. I got 35mb download 5mb upload connection with all PS3 ports opened. I rarely ever get lag unless my opponent has a bad connection. We can get a set in you’d like. I’m still using my controller with the worn out d-pad so you can expect some dropped combos though… dood!

Alukard vs. G

Good call not using MGS against Hulk. He’ll just Gamma Crush you to bits. I saw you land one MGS on both Hulk and Sentinel. That was a beautiful opportunity to X-Factor and kill them both. You should practice doing that some time.

You keep ending your combos with an assist and Arrow Kick. Are you trying to set up resets, or are you botching an assist combo? I’m really not sure, but they look like really cool resets.

A lot of your combos kind of throw me, like at 1:33. You could have ended Hulk easy, but you ended up launching him to try and get him to land on drones, I guess, and risked his continued existence. Just kill them.

Saw a few dropped combos coming from a move not connecting because of hitstun deterioration. Nothing a little time in training mode can’t fix.

Don’t come down with Double Knee Drop. It should get you killed every time.

Don’t let anyone coming out of the sky land a confirm on you ever. Have a Somersault ready for them, and keep feral dashing around to make sure you’re aligned, maybe throw off their inputs.

You really want to confirm with the strongest move possible when they have their health so you can get in all the damage you can. You blocked silly Hulk’s Gamma Crush in the corner like three times, and always came in with :m: instead of :h:. Maybe I make too much of a big deal out of it, but I value the hell out of all the damage I can get.

All negatives aside, amazing job in such short time  I can’t wait to see you keep it up and get better; at least I hope you do! I also love watching you play Ironman. I’ve wanted to play him for some time, but he was a bit tough for me and I had no help or shoulders to stand on :frowning:

I agree with Gangie’s statements, adding this:

Though I’m not sure it would kill Hulk, that was definetely a chance.

It were resets, pretty good ones with the drones, the very best assistance for Jill so far.

Yes, just Machine Gun Spray them and kill every single threat. haha DHC to Proton Canon is great too.

But he was very good and solid in my opinion. The execution will come in the right time.

Acctualy, I think there are some exceptions.
1 - You can Double Knee if the enemy is right below Jill and the guy doesn’t have a great anti air (hyper or super move). Prefer the light version and use this basically if you have a meter so you can Machine Gun to avoid reversals.
2 - If you’re in super jump AND far enough for you to FALL DOWN QUICKLY without being caught. But remember Jill must not super jump at all.

I’m not sure Unibeam is a great assistance because of the damage scale, but I know you love him. So do I. Miss him so much…

Right, but knowing when Hulk will be able to guard sucks in this hyper combo… BTW, certain Hulk players suck…

Great job and don’t drop her again, please.
