Yeah, I agree that his lack of tools holds him back. The few he does have, while one-dimensional (ranged grabs, armor), while help him along a bit and letting him make use of that damage. His main problem is he’s one-dimensional. I think I’ll keep using Spencer, who’s simple but versatile and especially moreso now, on point with Nemesis as a B-team point.
A lot of people are using him now (as demonstrated by the OptionSelect stream going on right now), but he has some very bad matchups against chars like Ghost Rider (also just demonstrated), and so people will drop him. He really does like projectile assists and Vajra (who doesn’t?), though, so we’ll see how it plays out.
Oh yeah, Drones also adds easy Fuzzy guard options to Nova’s offense, I hinted at that in my Tricks & Tech Ep4. I’m probably gonna have a whole video dedicated to Nova’s Neutral and offense in the future.
HEY! I said Nova was going to be top tier as well. Most people called me nuts and some probably still think I am but he just seems to have tools to open people, extend combos, zone, deal damage, set up resets. May look bland but he will end up being the char far from it and also helps that he is Nitsuma’s favorite Marvel character.
I also stated that Firebrand was going to be top tier as well.
Tell me about. Everyone was like no projectiles, looks easy to stop. I was like but aegis shield, tracking projectile, and fly/unfly cancels… I could not see a char like that not being broken. He seems to be designed to be kinda broken. Like Wesker/Dante were designed to keep Capcom chars in the top chars.
It wasn’t hard for me to see that a character capable of a little bit of everything was going to be probably high tier. He didn’t have hype level 3 in the trailer but that’s hardly what makes a top tier character.
Have you noticed that a lot of the new cast members have awkward normals? Strange and Nova have those weird non-low crouching moves, with Nova’s only low normals being a slow one, Iron Fist has that extremely limited S launcher, and don’t get me started on Rocket Raccoon’s ridiculously weird combos.
…
Huh, I noticed all of those are Marvel characters. Maybe Capcom is trying to subliminally tell us something?
I guess She-Hulk is no longer relevant in this game, with the slide and cr.L nerf and the presence of characters like Nemesis, Hawkeye, and Ghost Rider (who shut ground approach characters like her, Haggar, and Wolverine hard). Is anyone still using her? At least Wolverine still has some players using him.
Speaking of Nemesis and Ghost Rider, the fact that they have some matchups completely in their favor will ensure that they are no lower than mid tier, but I have a hard time seeing them any better than that (they seem kinda shallow, Ghost Rider especially. Maybe I’m missing something).
Also, I don’t see Vergil being that easy to use in the long run. He might have some easy things, but he has a lot of depth with the round trip and summoned swords, and he does mediocre damage without them.
I like it. It keeps the characters diverse and force you to play them differently. The last game was full of Wolverine and She Hulk mashing on c.L’s that anti aired into full combos. The new characters will require you to think a bit more about the character and the matchup than what you’re going to eat for lunch later.
I still think Firebrand has potential to be dangerous in the right hands.
Iron Fist’s bad launcher just means you have to use rekkas and what not more often. He has a crumple special. use that, pick your chi, launch them anyway.
Call me crazy but this will make Aerial Exchanges that much more important. Get an opening, get a hard hitter in, and mix’em up.
She was disbarred for killing unfortunate Sunday drivers in terrible auto accidents.
Seriously have you ever stopped to consider that she just grabs a moving vehicle and throws it at someone, and then it explodes? Cars don’t drive themselves is what I’m saying.
It’s actually pretty smart design. Making characters with both strengths and weaknesses, with the two actually somewhat balancing out. The ball was dropped pretty hard with some characters in Ultimate, but hey, Joe got much better and the top worse/closer to him, so I can’t really complain.
Now just to decide on a new team since my other team members got hammered into competitive/viable non-existence.
She does, and Felicia is very grateful (Another character made much better).
