I don’t like starting combos with the spinning swords cause it scales a bit but I could see that being useful. I’m thinking about running a team with Strider on point, Vergil next and I need a solid fill the screen up assist.
The character’sn mix up seems impossible to block when done correctly, I wish I had the ultimate book so I could figure more efficient ways to do what I’m doing. >.<
Im going to be doing/updating the Firebrand Mixup/Reset thread so please let me know of your findings an what not so I can add them. Trying to make that thread as beefy as possible.
Did you know Firebrand has incoming unblockables liek Viper? Because full charged demon missle H staggars opponents so much if they block you can follow up with J.S (to fall from flight mode) into combo of your choice. If they get hit by the assist+Demon missle H then you can drop down with QCB+A and start the combo their too.
Only a couple assists have shown to work so far like Dormammus Dark Hole. Jam Session will work if they block the assist but sadly it wont if they get hit :(. Im sure cold star works.
yea his swords disappear but the hit box on it is so big vertically\horizontally that not even dive kicks are consistently hitting it. Not to mention that vergil can just jump around thus throwing off your perfect angle to beat him. Its practically impossible to consistently hit him out of the swords and you can’t really shoot him out of it because he has insane durability on it.
I don’t see the problem starting combos with that thing. Especially if its a lead in pressure tool. You get the free lead in and your max combo after swords builds an insane amount of bar iirc. So if you hit someone with 1 bar, you’re going to build @ least 75% of it back during the combo. Its like genei jin where people are using the ending combos to build the meter back up and he could very easily do a block string for 25% bar.
sword, pin, they eat a mixup, max combo, oki pin for 25% more bar+assist, swords again, mixup again, repeat.
while it may not do any life, the whole thing just constantly loops into itself over and over with unbeatable hitbox. Sooner or later the frustration of not being able to move or beat that super will overwhelm you and force you into a mistake where vergil will actually get a huge ass combo
still waiting on how strider has 3 free ways in that don’t cost bar btw
You’re going to need a very good battery for that. You’ve got two characters that are heavily meter-intensive to make themselves safe/get opportunities to do their thing. Sounds really fun, though.
If Strider gets hit with a lvl 3 his orbs disapear.
Also, if your opponent manages to land a hit while orbs are out via an invincible hyper or just got lucky, orbs do not knock your opponent out of the combo, they just go through them… Seems kinda like a bad deal for a lvl 3 hyper on a character that only has 750k health, and orb projectiles don’t even cause chip.
-Formation B shot (or formation A) to wallcling is pretty cheap, free mixup into a dive kick, pretty much a guess whether strider will pass you before or after the orb hits you. Hell, wall cling is so cheap I wish I used it more, incoming character send bird, wallcling dive kick, block strings can be cancelled into a cross up kick off the wall too.
-Full screen poke w/ H Gram so effective when you think they’ll press a button, or dash or call an assist, attack goes through projectiles (doesn’t destroy them) and leads to an easy combo from full screen, further then ghost rider range on a character that doesn’t need it.
-Formation A, teleport crossup.
I agree though nothings as cheap as that sword dance teleport, besides Ouroboros covering your teleport dive kicks and that costs 3 bars. You gotta admit though Striders back teleport isn’t very easy to punish, I have an easier time grabbing dante out of his because of the obvious down down input (should of been qcb S) plus his double jump gives him that leeway.
Yeah the more I use strider though, the less I feel like I need ouroboros. I feel like Vergil needs meter more then Strider.
I can see a match going Strider building meter, getting low health then getting Vergil in there safe to body people with that meter.
you can build bar the after the last part of the sword super hits iirc. If it you get a mixup, just hold forward until they disappear then combo off the last hit into your big series for bar. I had already mentioned it just a page back
Strider probably has one of the worst level 1’s in the game. Use to DhC him out only, can’t front though I been raw tagging a lot lately. Throw jaguar raw tag.
Yeah lots of early days usage of it… I always think to myself… it’s not worth the bar unless it’s a guaranteed kill.
It’s almost no damage at the range you’re at after a basic bnb.
vergil spiral swords doesnt cross up if you’re on ground, only in air (just like dante vanilla MvC3 carats>DT>TP
i may be wrong about this, but if vergil is in XF 1 or DT, then the sword storm (crown) only gives you 1 chance to mix up - after that you are kept in block stun. til its over
yup. Anchor strange is also amazing. If they are going to just chicken block in the corner s.jump into the corner and throw a light dagger. hits behind them and pushes them out of the corner. now he’s free to pull off bullshit 50/50’s at will.
I think strider might be one of the best tbh along with vergil, dante, wesker and maybe strange… im pretty sure im missing some people out but 2-3months down the line a top will emerge and its guaranteed to be one of them
Agreed, both are GDLK, but Wesker is actually worse than he was in Vanilla (despite what people keep blabbering on about), and Doom, while buffed, has all the same weaknesses he used to.
