Dante/Strider are BFFs imo.
I agree. Strider’s assist benefits a lot of people who have OTG options.
Hmm BFFs?
Iron Fist/Spencer
Insert teleport character here/Hawkeye triple arrow assist
Dr.Strange/Dr.Doom
*Insert character with otg options/Strider with dumb broken kick assist
Just wait, RR/MODOK will be the most acronymical team ever.
Jill got nerfed overall due to the system changes because Capcom doesn’t know how to balance or compensate for character changes with system changes.
Zero is going to round out high tier, due to Dante, Vergil, and oddly enough, Strider getting future tech and being less of a risk. Spencer is just way better in general and will work with much of the new cast.
Ghost Rider is high damage for low effort. He can keep a vast majority of the cast out.
Excpet that when you get to Dark Phoenix, you have so many more options that you would with regular Phoenix to the point where the two of them are radically different. Reg. Phoenix can’t even go into any kind of offense without the chance of getting hit once, because if she is hit once, she dies. Then you also have all the new system mechanics, like side TAC’s taking away meter. Unless you have a team dedicated TO her, she really isn’t doing anything. Meter building
DP can still sweep teams, but it takes more effort due to LV.3 X-factor getting a nerf. She still has all her traps and projectiles and her lv.1 is the same. Ranking them both in B tier and ranking them both in S is absurd. Putting her in A makes it seem like Reg. Phoenix wins tournaments when she doesn’t. You and I both know its always been DP winning tournaments.
So much for NonSexualRice
Stirder’s assist is ridiculous for Dr. Doom and Dante especially.
I will say at the very least that Vergil looks ridiculous right now, especially with the resets he can easily set up, mixups he can easily set up, and damage he can do all by himself. its pretty scary.
Fair enough
Why do you assume that Dante will get new tech and that Zero will not?
Jump. Zoning avoided.
From what I can tell, he doesn’t have anything to control the airspace. You can just superjump/teleport/airdash toward him and he can’t really do anything.
I’d love to be proved wrong, but GR just looks bad.
Definitely scary, but I think several characters are better than him.
I don’t really think it’s a knee jerk. UMVC3 was made in less than 8 months. We’re still fighting practically the same Wesker we were fighting last week, only now he gets free x factor level 1 for either getting beat up or doing his maximum wesker super randomly. He was already on almost half of the teams I saw being played at tournaments, he was clearly one of the best characters in the game, and now he’s better than he was before. This isn’t like… say, MVC2 to MVC3 where clearly we didn’t know what was going on with the game, I think we have a bit more education as to what to expect from the game.
Besides, I wasn’t 100% serious with my Wesker prayer thing, I just fucking hate that character even more than I did before lol
Its good to know that at least. Can you give me a couple of examples? I’ve mostly been playing Skyrim, and what i have played of UMVC3 has been Chris Hawkeye and Nemesis
I already run a troll team like that.
It’s titled “WHAT AM I STALLING FOR?!”
Basically it’s Zero, MODOK, RR.
Gameplan: try to do work as Zero and put myself at an advantage. Proceed to run the clock with MODOK and RR. MODOK flies above the screen to avoid characters without tracking teleports. RR digs underground and waits.
It’s a really bad team btw.
Cuz they require work to make something pop off unlike some of the Vanilla tops. MVC3 made people realize they don’t have to really work to make their characters work. Now people realize they gotta sit in the lab to make these characters scary like the older games. For the exception of probably Wesker who was still somehow harder to play than Wolvie or Sent was in the first few months of the game.
It’s most likely completely cheaper than kitty helper and we just don’t know it. Kitty helper you have to set up pretty correctly or the opponent can just run away from it and then u wasted a bar. That level 3 looks like it travels most of the screen and you gotta deal with it once its out. If it works like kitty helper where it stops you from being able to advance guard firebrand…most likely going to have some situations where it will be worth it.
M mystic sword and L daggers are hardly slow projectiles. M mystic sword has 8 points of projectile durability and travels the screen at the same speed as a beam with decent start up also. Magneto pretty much is forced to move in if you start chucking M swords. L dagger is a tracking projectile with insanely quick start up and although it doesn’t do the hit stun that the M daggers do it’s nice for pressure since the opponent basically has to deal with it unless they do some really fast movement to get around it. Slow projectiles + Dr.Strange does not make any sense. He has slower ones that you need to combine with assists to get the true effectiveness out of but he has 2 of the fastest ones in the game easily.
He has teleports that traverse the screen instantly so his mobility is not really ass if you compare it to say Hsien Ko or Haggar. His mobility issue is basically in not having any movement that allows him to turtle backwards. Which is what the pushback on moves like M mystic sword is designed for any way. To push you far back enough to set up more mix ups and put agomotto out to set up graces.
If you think spell of vishanti is the best thing about him…that’s the exact reason why he’ll never evolve into a strong tournament character anytime soon. Dorm and Akuma have been doing hurp durp super kills on people without any tracking abilities.
Spell of Vishanti + XF stuff gets killed by running to the corner which at that point you better have an assist or you’re not going to be opening up a cornered opponent with Strange. Even Phoenix can open you up better in the corner than Strange so it’s imperative for him to have an assist in those situations if he doesn’t want his shit to get push blocked to death.
lol superjump? Heartless Spire will anti-air any generic offensive attempts, sure you can superjump or air dash if you want to land into it then have to deal with chains all over again. j.H is a sick air-to-air that hits almost all around him, and even better since the chain’s hitbox is completely detached from his body and if you do get a grab it knocks the player almost fullscreen AKA back to square one and in the corner he gets a combo. Oh and I should add this is an assist based game and airspace controlling assists do exist
I know people say he’s old Sentinel and he’ll suck in a few weeks, but I don’t see it. It’s hard to argue with fullscreen normals no matter who has them, also being able to convert those fullscreen normals into nearly 600k damage without meter is another thing, with low/overhead assists he can create** fullscreen “unblockables”** with either j.S or c.H. And I should add, being able to nullify any opposing assist at a safe distance with his chains is also a valuable asset that imo shouldn’t be ignored. You guys can still sleep on the character if you want though
Sighs Why did they nerf MODOK’s ability to fly at the top of the screen for 20s seconds…
It’s like they don’t want MODOK to be actual cheap character with bullshit tactics.
I know the mentality for wanting nerfs instead of learning the game is extremely shitty, but we do know Wesker from MvC3 and he doesn’t seem to have changed all that much. Although having said that, I used to play him in Vanilla but now when his glasses are on he seems notably slower, and I’m positive his launcher is now unsafe with glasses on.
Glasses off Wesker is literally retarded, and if you don’t think so I don’t know what to tell you. It was a stupid decision that should never have been made. I’m not crying for a nerf, I can usually deal with Wesker, but I think it could be a good idea to lose the X Factor contact lenses.
Why can’t any other character get essentially a permanent boost to damage and speed and can still build meter, at the mere cost of one meter or none. A low tier character? No! Top tier!
That’s my problem with Wesker. So before anyone chimes in saying “learn the game”, there’s nothing to be learned about a dude taking off his sunglasses and getting stronger.
EDIT: Just to clarify, if I could nerf Wesker I’d kill the glasses perk, and just maybe s.L’s vertical hitbox *maybe. *Probably not though.
Ghost Rider has a surprising amount of anti rushdown tools. His s.S basically works as a more than half screen dive kick/teleport killer which on hit can confirm into juggles.
Yeah, Rider’s S and J.H have incredible reach and are perfectly capable of shutting down even the derpiest divekicks (Doom, Wolverine).
This character is so dumb. Wesker can’t do shit on his own against him.
What tends to happen is that people get mad at what they just lost to instead of recognizing what, if anything, truly is worth complaining about. The thing is that stuff tends to not reveal itself for a while, and even then, most of it is still manageable.
Remember, it’s Week 1. Though I’ll admit this is a little weird coming from someone with the (not very serious) salty Hsien-Ko sig.
@Ghost Rider: doesn’t he have blindfolds above him similar to Chris?
