I’m not getting that feeling. Task is solid all-around, but nothing more. Which is still pretty good. Ghost is solid, but only when you’re in his favorable sightlines. He has blindspots similar to Chris. He seems very one-dimensional. Task is simple too, but he’s more versatile.
Glad to hear that about Strange. I haven’t seen anyone use his Illusion move, though. Not once. What’s up with that? It seems like it could get pressure off of him.
As for Nemesis, I think there’s more to be discovered in that big meaty package. He’s pretty free at times right now if you watched the Combofiend stream last night or have just watched people play around with him, but unlike Rider, I think he has room for a little exploration. People on streams haven’t even used his command grabs into resets and the like much at all (Week 1, of course). His focus will be on discovering ways to open people up without the self-created mixups that a lot of the new kids on the block have.
Obviously this is a tier discussion thread that was created since day 1. If nobody shared their opinnions on who they think is strong or weak than this thread would get nowhere.
I listed what I believe is good about Strider and what I think his major weaknesses are and that I think some characters can do the same but better. I even put “my opinion” in bold so you don’t mistake it as fact.
So unless you’d like to chime in on the tier discussion… Shut-up and keep your condescending comments to yourself, thanks:)
correct me if i’m wrong, but doesn’t Strider have unlimited damage scaling?
Zero had high damage in vanilla because his combos never ended (lightning loop)
When did I question that what you said was fact? That wasn’t a condescending question either. Reread your last post. Making a big statement like that saying that he is mid tier is something very questionable with such little time with the game.
Firebrand doesn’t need a air dash. Hell dive L and air bon voyage are his air dashes with the latter having a absurd +10 on block and a lot of priority.
i.body hyper lets his jumping L instant overhead combo into bon voyage for insane high low pressure, which leads into another high low mix up if blocked. Hell dive M is also a really hard to see cross up when used with lock down beam assists or drones. Im actually happy that he has such low damage output because he opens you up so easy.
Trish deserves to be on the list, editting now, we have an excellent Trish player (Snakedukes) but he doesn’t head to tournaments unless they’re majors for the most part so I haven’t seen his ultimate Trish. going to put her on my list.
Tell me about it. Im still worried about him(even though i play him) as a anchor. His xfc lv 2 and 3 can kill off characters by going into cr h into fireball loops. Its scary since he can hit confirm this off bon voyage which will be abused like hell…and easy to do.
Here is some fun stuff found for Firebrand already. The XFC1 and XFC3 setups are extremely practical. The one in level 3 builds 2.3ish bars (probably more around 1.5-1.8 on the weaker characters). More than likely you will have access to his level 3 after that and the incoming character is basically put into a fucked up situation.
I just did some lab work with my new Viper/Vergil/Strider team, why in the heck can Strider slide greater than the entire width of his body with dash normals?
All I know is characters with limited mobility options do not do well in this game. And Firebrand, for a character that moves around as much as he does, doesn’t really have alot of variety in how he moves. I’m not saying he’s weak, but I don’t know how he’s gonna be better than many of the other potential great characters. On day 4 we don’t really know what Firebrand does and doesn’t need all I can do is compare his tools to those that were good in vanilla, and he has some, but lacks others. (Opinion subject to change as the game is super, super, super new).
Grr… this was my new Viper team… Still wondering if I want a lockdown assist of some kind.
I don’t think Strider can cancel that slide though, not sure, have only put in the tiniest amount of lab time in with him so far.
