Hey guys, this is probably a weird question, but I don’t have ultimate yet and was looking forward to picking up Spencer, do you think his combos are close enough in timing to his vanilla combos, that practicing them would be beneficial?
EDIT: also, is vertical grapple only cancellable into super in ultimate? I can’t seem to get it in vanilla
The changes to zipline make the timing of the more optimized combos totally different, unfortunately.
And yeah, Reel in Punch is only hyper cancellable in Ultimate.

Most of the up close zipline stuff is pretty much identical. It’s when you go for the midscreen and further combos that the timing changes a little bit.
I mean you can get a feel for how the moves all work. But mashing out the timing for Vanilla combos will not grant you the ability to use those same combos in Ultimate.
Anyone else think pr rogs spencer was meh? Dont think wolvs barrage assist helps much either

I kinda agree… I mean, I didn’t expect him to immediately pull Combofiend levels of hype out of bionic hat, but after seeing the “PR Rog’s awesome Spencer combos!” video on the SRK front page… I guess I expected his Spencer to do more work? He wasn’t bad or anything, I guess I just kinda thought I’d see something new. Good show, though!
And yeah, Stark’s new avatar is S-tier in adorableness.
Considering how long hes probably been playing the character I thought his Spencer play was really solid, didn’t drop too many combos, great use of command grab and the usual resets, including what appeared to be a less than perfect use of Stark’s DFA command grab reset. I was actually really impressed by how much mileage he got out of berserker barrage assist, the speed the assist comes out at I think actually makes it a really good assist for Spencer.
I kinda hated seeing him do air magic series into wesker otg all the time but that ties into not dropping combos, I suppose.

I’ve been practicing the combos on the OP for a few days now and have the hang of some of the “chunks” of the combos. But I still have difficulties here and there:

I find it really hard to connect the S after the diagonal zipline consistently. Am I supposed to do the air magic series fast or slow, mash the zipline out as fast as possible/delay it or what? Do you guys have some advice for hitting this part more consistently?

I find it hard to connect the grounded S after the S, horizontal zip, diagonal zip. Do I wait for the opponent to drop lower before I do it, and maybe delay the diagonal zip? Any trick to connecting it?

I’m not entirely sure if what you posted was actually the correct notations for the questions you were asking, but I can say that delaying the down-forward zip slightly helps, the ‘easy’ way to do it is to just omit the ground S entirely and just do the down forward wirezip straight into the vertical grapple when you land.
:eek: So I had this ridiculously ludicrous idea for a corner to corner combo using several grapples and both assists and all sorts of shenanigans.
It wasn’t supposed to be practical, just to have fun and kind of expand my horizons beyond the usual stuff I try to do.
And then I realized that we can’t call assists anymore between grappling someone and the followup to that grapple.
I am super sadface now.
Pr rogs spencer was kinda meh. I too expected more. Guess hes like the people who are picking up Spencer because hes top tier now. Just like doom.
But pr rog is a solid player nonetheless and I expect great things from him if he sticks with Spencer.
So, an explanation for this avatar. The “Meowvel vs Catcom” artist, Wave on SRK/suzuran on deviantart, contacted me thanking me for my content, saying she was a fan of me. But I’m of course a fan of her also. We got to talking and I mentioned I had this concept in my head that I had previously thought about commissioning her to draw, but she decided it was cute and did it for free. It was developed into the avatar on the left, yes. But I also have this 1920x1080 desktop background.

What I’m saying is that she is an utterly fantastic person and everyone should like her.
Wow i absolutely love seeing these spencer combos. I normally use him as an anchor, without having OTG assists. Best I have done so far is 820K without xfactor and 2 bars. Thanks to this, I saw some that would make these combos even more damaging. Good job guys!
PR Balrog had one good match against Chris G with Spencer where he was hitting his jump cancelled wires and landed a few jawbreakers. Beyond that I wasn’t terribly impressed; Wolverine did all the work for him.
I’m struggling after tk h.wiregrapple in the corner to get anything useful afterwards. I trie to j.s, land bionic piercer, hyper - but it works less often then it not. usually I get a bionic bomber or I wait to long and my opponent recovers / falls to ground / whatever. is their any visual help or anything else what I can do to get into a position to use a hyper after a tk h.wiregrapple in the corner?
Instead of doing j.s, land, armor piercer, do j.s, zipline down, armor piercer. Zipline has fixed hitstun and always brings you to the ground, so you’ll have more leniency in landing the armor piercer. If the guy pops out after the j.s, just skip it all together and go straight into down zipline.
