take this with a grain of salt since im relatively new
it seems the problems are
-lack of sessions/meetups/whatever you wanna call it
-lack of interest/hype
-new people aren’t staying around
i feel like we could solve all of this if we can find somewhere to host gatherings weekly, every other week, or even monthly. i watched that fighting gamers @ UCI thing on the front page a while ago and it seems that they grew from only 3-4 dudes to a pretty decent scene from just hosting consistent sessions.
if we got consistent sessions then randoms and new people know exactly when the sessions will be so they will be able to show up more often. scene will grow in skill and size. and we can always have tournaments instead of just casuals too. i know a few of the new people havent been showing up because the meet ups are too random and they have plans allready.
i feel like we can accomplish this with the RSO dennis/patric made, what is the plan with that? or brock you said you might have found a venue a while ago?
I havent actually talked to them yet, but I’ll get on it this week most likely. Thing is, it wouldn’t be weekly gatherings, but more like monthly ranbats.
Everything you said is correct though.
@James: Sorry if we could only host at night, and sometimes in the middle of the week, but isn’t that better than nothing? I wish we could have people over on a certain day every week to play, but as of now it’s not possible. I work a rotating over night schedule, and Marcus has early classes. When I quit my job, which will hopefully be within a month, I’ll do my best to start hosting every Friday or Saturday.
Also, another problem is the fact that our house isn’t very big. We can only comfortably host about 8 people. We have plenty of set ups to have people over to play… actually 3 set ups in total now (2 360/1 ps3) but space is limited. If we were to have something like what Brian used to be nice enough to do, we would have to have more space. You had the same issue at your old place, James. It sucks cramping 15 people into small houses.
Also, what is going on with the RSO shit? Can you guys get us a place to play every week? Is there a way you guys could host tournaments? Let me know before I start investing time into finding us all a place to play (besides our houses).
Brock I understand how you cant host regularly because of your work schedule but i was talking about setting into stone a game night many days in advance instead of the night of which is what would usually happen.
Your place could fit a few more we could put setups in the kitchen for example.
My place was small but I tried my darndest to fit everyone. I think one time I had well over 22 people haha.
Hypn0t0ad on that secret ikari warriors tech whachu knoe bout it? Also Terry is good. Also so is every freaking body else in that cast. Also I LOVE THIS FREAKIN GAME!!!
So if I was to say I wanted to host this Friday, how many of you would come?? I know it’s a holiday weekend, so that’s why I’m asking.
But yea, if people would want to come out for a Fight Before Christmas thing, that would be fun. Maybe we could run some tournaments?
Basically what I’m asking is, who would be down to come over for games/small tournaments this Friday. If there is no interest I won’t bother, but otherwise it would be great to have everyone over.
Also from the UMVC3 changes “There was one frame where you could not block after activating X-Factor, but that has been fixed so you can block immediately now.”
I FUCKING KNEW SOMETHING WAS FUCKY! Brock that explains why we got hit by those retarded bionic arms.
@Brock: it’s a no for me this Friday. @Dan and everyone else: Yea good points. If Brock can’t host regularly next semester Ill see what i can do. I may be able to host every other week.
So I never actually lost to King of Bums. THANK YOU BASED CAPCOM.
Also, is that a no for hosting games? James, even if people don’t come you’re more than welcome to come play/stream at my place Friday. I have no plans and I dont feel like going out to the bars this week considering no one is in town.
