UIUC/Central IL 2016 Thread - IFD Land! Facebook group more active

I would love to come today but I am super tired today. Tomorrow Ill be in chicago unfortunately. Going to the Illinois game.

Our scene is too boring now.

Anyone who isn’t a member of my household want to money match or something? There hasn’t been any hype for a long time.

Down to MM anyone not named Marcus in 2012 or UMvC3, if for nothing else, to create a little hype and have some fun. Shits boring nowadays.

And welcome to SRK CappyOmega!

FT7 – $10

Guile v. Blanka

I’ll play FT7 for $20.

No. Additional letters.

Then I guess you won’t be doing a FT7, my friend.

so anyone coming today? i only got 1 set up

hmm guess not, it’s scr today no wonder.

In my day we played and had the streams on the side.

Welp, never mind then…

No one else wants to play?

I’ll be more speific:

In UMvC3, I’ll go FT5 for $20, FT7 for $40 and FT10 for $60

2012, I’ll go FT5 for $20 or FT7 for $50.

Hot dog eating contest: $100 minimum

We can make an event of it at me and Marcus’ place this friday, or if you guys that are on break want to wait until you get back from break that’s cool too. I just want to have something to play for again. We used to have monthly tournaments to keep up the hype/shit talk, but now… shit’s boring.

Maybe even Humbag would want to stream it? Maybe we could get some other hype matches going too… I dunno man, I just want to have some fun. Kind of miss playing games with everyone.

well i would actually take u on the 2012 offer but whats the point when there’s like nobody in champaign anymore cuz of break? you should set these mms or monthly tournies next semester then. t’ll be fun.

i dont understand doing mms in our own group

I dont understand playing for no stakes. When casuals are played constantly, well, people get casual about playing. If my base competition isn’t trying to get better, then I’m not getting the strongest practice that I could be getting. That goes for all of us.

And like I said in my last post, we can play when people get back from break. No need to rush, just looking to mix things up. When people get back from break, they can feel free to challenge me then, or not. This isn’t about looking down, or even up to anyone. It’s all about having something to play for beyond just for fun. For those that play just for fun, great, I’m happy for you. But I, and many others need more than just online play and maybe one night a week for casuals. Putting something on the line when you play makes it that much more meaningful.

So anyways, my offer will stand for anyone who wants to play for moniez. If no one wants to, then I’ll just go back to playing casuals

Right… If that’s the case, Brock, then you have no excuse to not play me for $10. It’s still worth something, and it’s still giving you incentive to win. Basically what you’re doing is being elitist: setting price limits on how much you’ll ALLOW your friends to MM you is bogus as shit. Like James said, we play together all the time; you offered to MM, and I accepted…then you shot me down because it apparently wasn’t enough money?? That’s retarded. lol

Yeah I dont understand that. Money is money. Im not going to play 50 dollar mms against my friends…

Thing is I am always playing to try to win even in casuals. Also I AM playing just for fun. Fighters are the perfect hobby because I love competition and I think its fun to try and best someone playing the same game with the same passion no matter what is on the line. I dont need money on the line to make the game beyond just for fun.

To me when we all play together that is the most important time to play serious. If you aint playing as hard in casuals how do you expect to get better and play at tournaments well? Playing super long sessions is where you get to experience a lot of the crazy things that can happen in fighting games and really learn the intricacies of a game so when you get to a tournament you are ready for stuff like that.

I am all for challenging other areas to MMs like chicago/STL but doing so in our own group just is kinda silly to me. We already play each other tons so playing a MM makes no sense to me other than trying to say something like “Im the best in our own little scene”.

goes back to playing casuals

Brock, you’re always the one who says they don’t take casuals seriously. If you want other people to get better, and I know you think you’re better than the majority of people, then you should play serious casuals. Every once in a while, its fun to play casuals well…casually, but its also fun playing against a good player and learning a lot.

So, I got people to actually talk again. Good shit.

Everyone can feel as they may. I didn’t set with the intention of offending any one at all. I simply wanted people to get passionate about playing again, and it seems like I got a least a few of you heated

I can’t be the only person that sees our scene is dying faster than it is growing. When I first moved to Chambana, there was like 25+ at every game night. Now, were lucky to get 8. I just thought maybe some hype shit would get people fired up and ready to play again.

My offer will stand for anyone interested, and if not, that’s fine too.

When does everyone get back from Christmas break?

You also missed the time when it was literally just me and mike.

Basically the people playing know are just about the same playing before.

There is a lack of game nights as well that is hopefully gonna be fixed. Many a time you would rather just go out drinking =/

Gotta schedule one in advance so people can take care of HW etc. A lot of people didnt like starting at 8pm either on a school night.

Oh shit Brock has started launching Intercontinental Ballistic Bottles:

You wanna talk about Yomi? Brock knew where that fool was gonna be 9 days in advance from ten thousand miles away.

yea i don’t know why brock thinks people aren’t taking casuals seriously, because nobody plays fighting games to lose. Everyone plays to win. I’m not offended but it seems you’re the one that’s not taking it seriously >.>
