oh btw Mike what prompted you to go back to guile again?
Back before AE came out I swore that despite his changes I was going to get him to a Master rank online. I only ever made it to a B rank in SUPER, but I also didn’t start taking online seriously until the end of it’s popularity – not long before MVC’s release. I got SUPER Guile up to just under 6000 BP before the new version came out. Basically, as soon as AE came out, I played Guile for about an hour, ranked him up to D+, then switched to Oni. After playing Oni for about 4 weeks, I realized that even though I really enjoy him Guile is who I’m best with. Since then I’ve been actually trying to rank my PP and BP up, and I’m doing much better as a result. I’m up to 4500 BP, and my PP are up to 2700. :tup:
Guile just works for me. He’s not the best character in the game, and I’m fine with that. I’d rather play a character that’s not top-tier but fits my [lame] playstyle than a top-tier character that I have to force myself into. I’ve never been good at rushing down really well like James or Dennis. I’m better at playing more defensively and letting the fight come to me, so-to-speak. I have more success with patience than I do with aggression.
ahhh. Guile is still very good man. People still respect his zoning game. Not a lot of characters can brainlessly go nuts and get in =/

August 18th is the official day Champaign becomes better than chicago at marvel and AE.
In terms of AE tournament characters, The core 10 are Yun, Yang, Fei, Akuma, Viper, Ken, Honda, Bison, Seth, (Adon/Balrog/Makoto).
The tenth spot can be a bit of a tossup, since adon didn’t really get worse and we have yet to see a dominating makoto. Balrog didn’t get hit hard enough to put him out of contention. But every character here has seen top placement in some form in japan or here.
Gief and Sagat are still very specialized and hard to win tournaments with, but I would assume a sagat would get closer than gief, since gief still has too many bad matchups.
